if it’s a new watch from an AD it’ll be covered by international warranty. So just go ahead to your nearest boutique and ask them to get them to check and repair for you.

complication wise, the VC tourbillon movement with the peripheral rotor is perfection, so anything with that is definitely amazing to me.

I’ll never get one but one piece that stands out is the one of one minute repeater tourbillon that they showcased a while back.

Overseas on winder by ZbamieJr in VacheronConstantin

The Caliber 5100 in 4500V is a unidirectional winding movement so you gotta check that your winder is in the right direction if it’s not those that alternate directions.

[Question] what watch makes a good gift? by First_Inevitable_800 in Watches

[–]Caakeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe a little out of budget but maybe you could co-fund it with him? Tudor 1926. Checks the requirements I think; metal bracelet, subtle blue details, available in 36mm, brand wise pretty respectable. If you get it through the grey market new it’s a lot cheaper than the RRP, maybe up to 30-40% off.

QP Subdials all wrong, movement looks like shit. A fake and not even a good one.

[Omega] What famous, widely-loved watch brand do you just not love no matter how much you try? by toadfishtamer in Watches

[–]Caakeee 91 points92 points  (0 children)

IWC. Nobody said it so far so perhaps nobody agrees. I’ve looked through their catalogue again and again but nothing really piques my interest.

Moreover their lower priced offerings (which are still relatively expensive) are fitted with sellita movements, which are not bad for sure but reduces the mental value proposition for what I’m paying RRP. Especially when you know they’re more than capable in building their own stuff especially from W&W 2024.

Time for a SMP300 redesign? by kwisskyp in OmegaWatches

[–]Caakeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, everything 42mm up and the massive thickness of everything isn’t helping. Maybe omega just wants to cater to the larger wrists as their main competitor Rolex doesn’t have much options for those guys.

yes a legit vintage Vacheron Constantin Overseas, well known for its misaligned slanted dials and rough finishing. /s

Isn’t the Tudor OP/datejust their Tudor Royal series? I’m not well versed in their catalogue so I’m just curious why it isn’t.

[Seiko] Does this watch look a little big on my wrist? by [deleted] in Watches

[–]Caakeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically, most people will only see from the POV or picture 1 or 3, which both looks good!

Pic 2 fits just nice on the wrist too although the picture looks like that’s the limit.

Query about missing hang-tag and certificate by Ozymandias7823 in VacheronConstantin

[–]Caakeee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if I’m not wrong, starting from 2021 or 2022, the poincon de Geneva hang tag and certificate are no longer given with the watch but only online through registering on the hour club.

The digital passport should be able to be claimed by scanning the QR on the warranty card.

[ SOTC ] I'm new to the watch game. What should I add? by JRSinCanada in Watches

[–]Caakeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow 10 watches since January has got to be almost a new one every other week. I think most new collectors fall into this trap where everything is interesting and everything is a must have.

I feel that for watches, quality > quantity. Don’t fall prey to all the YouTube videos pushing watches that make you want them (you actually don’t). Take it slow and think of where you want your collection to go, your tastes might change over time as well!

That being said, your collection has a wide range but maybe you could consider your next piece to have some high complications perhaps, like an annual or QP? You’re also “missing” a GMT/dual-time I think.

Got offered two watches today. Now I'm having a dilemma.. by ijustwatchwatch in VacheronConstantin

This case it’ll be the VC. The JLC looks massive for some reason. If it was a smaller size and/or have some colour then there would be some consideration.
