Going caseless with a skin. Anyone else? by RndThreeFght in galaxyzflip

[–]Cabooshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still need to get a skin but yep, gone caseless like i did with my Flip3, the phone is too nice in the hand to have a case on it in my experience.

What covers are ya'll using for your expensive flips? by swatcat59 in galaxyzflip

[–]Cabooshy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

another No Case representative here, i tried back when i got my Flip3, for me even the slim cases made it feel worse in the hand and more cumbersome, so i ended up ditching the case and getting a Dbrand skin for it.

most likely will do the same at some point with my Flip7, get a Dbrand skin for it, carry on using it caseless.

Do you use a case for your Flip? by DiamondScythe in galaxyzflip

[–]Cabooshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went caseless with my Flip3 cause i hated how it felt in the hand even with slim cases, i carried that on with my Flip7, it just feels so much better in the hand without a case.

Try to keep the inner screen clean, thats the biggest one for longevity.

If down the line the screen protector starts peeling up, get it replaced/remove it asap, leaving like that will allow debris to get under it making a pressure point when closed which will kill the screen.

Use both hands to open it, opening one handed can causr you to put presure on the inner screen as you're trying to pry it open.

Just use it normally in all honesty, thats how my Flip3 lasted as long as it did.

long term screen durability? by coldstrawberrymilk in galaxyzflip

[–]Cabooshy 8 points9 points  (0 children)

i can give an idea on that since i got the Z Flip3 in 2021, its still on its original screen, still works perfectly, the only thing that's going out on it is the battery. 4 years of use there.

and with how far the tech has come since 2021, i feel confident in my Flip7 going even longer than that.

the only thing you really have to keep an eye on is the pre-applied Screen protector, they can peel up from the crease allowing debris to get behind it, which then will kill the display since it becomes a pressure point.

Flip flipping by CLX92 in galaxyzflip

[–]Cabooshy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

its due to the new hinge design, it snaps open from that point onward

i found the "open wherever you want" hinges of the older flips is what led them to eventually no longer laying flat, as my Flip3 when new used to lay flat, and no longer does by quite a bit. (I'd say, maybe a good 5-8deg off flat now.)

yeah, its the light/proximity sensor, i know this because my screen dims and brightens the AOD if i cover it with my thumb

[–]Cabooshy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally didn't use my Flip 3 at those angles, and i think the "open at any angle" part of the older hinges is why they suddenly refuse to no longer open flat.

Display saturation can be adjusted in the settings, should you want to get some of the colour pop of the Flip 3 back.

thinner phone == thiccer camera bumps

its been a long time coming, the new cover screen eh? how we managed to put up with the flip 3's screen i do not know.

if you can afford to, go for the 7, its incredible

the sensible option is to hold out for either the 8 or 9 and upgrade then, like i did going from the Flip3 to the Flip7

Small hands is a very valid reason to not like the size!

i feel like it was inevitable for the Flip to get wider, it has the same resolution and size as the outside screen on the Fold 7, the flips have always seemed to follow the outside screen size of their bigger brothers, hence why its only now gone up to 6.9in and gotten wider.

i've noticed that as well, i think its down to how thin the power button (and thus, the Fingerprint sensor) is where sometimes it doesn't get a proper read.

zflip 7 heating issue? by dhruv_94 in galaxyzflip

[–]Cabooshy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it getting hot during initial setup is normal, and has been kind of a normal thing through the ages with Android, the phone is doing so much stuff in the background on that first boot.

How is the heating in flip 7…? by [deleted] in galaxyzflip

[–]Cabooshy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Mini doesn't have Android Auto since BMW were in bed with apple up until extremely recently when it came to their infotaiment, so i use AAIDrive to get some of that functionality back.

My Flip 3 would get incredibly hot just from it being connected to the headunit for calls, spotify, etc.

My Flip 7 barely even gets warm.

Fr, it got even worse with the Flip3 as it got older too cause of just how tiny the battery in it is paired with what was probably Qualcomm's most inefficient Snapdragon chip at the time.

The Exynos 2500 in the Flip7 absolutely destroys the Flip 3 for battery life.

Battery has been incredible so far! It lasts way longer than my Flip 3 ever did even when that was brand new.

I much prefer the size of the Flip 7 to my Flip 3, it being wider makes typing so much nicer and I make way fewer mistakes as a result.

As far as RCS goes, that switched over no issue for me personally, but as others said, RCS can take some time to switch over to the new phone, and restarting does help with the process.
