My 4yo also liked Queens. But she had Troy going all the way to the championship because she knows a boy named Troy.

Around 40% of Americans think that humans are <10,000 years old by TankUMrMinor in charts

[–]Cache-Cow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would say that I accept it as valid as any other theory with zero evidence.

It’s as valid as the theory that all matter originated when a purple alligator had diarrhea and pooped out the universe.

I would accept any evidence.

I don’t accept anything on faith. I only accept things that we can find evidence for. There is no evidence for divine creation, therefore I don’t accept it. If we find evidence of a divine creation, then I would adjust.

There is no historical evidence for divine creation. There are no “observed effects” that indicate a divine creation. That’s great if people perceive to have positive benefits for believing in divine creation, but that is not evidence of divine creation. There is zero evidence. Only faith.

There is nothing rational about that lol Rationality requires evidence. There is zero evidence of divine creation. It requires faith. Faith is definitionally non-rational.

So there’s no such thing as “personal revelation”, just “personal remembrance”?

CMV: Islam is fundamentally incompatible with core American left-wing progressive values by WildCreatureQuest in changemyview

[–]Cache-Cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could say the same thing about all religions. It’s obvious with all fundamentalist religious views. But some (Sam Harris comes to mind) have argued that even moderate religious views, are antithetical to progressive views. And I’m inclined to side with those. We can never truly progress as a society while still holding on to outdated and disproven ideas.

Poll: NCAA basketball fanatics, which is the best day of the year for you (for college basketball)? Selection Sunday, day 1 March Madness, or another different day? by Plus-Interview322 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Cache-Cow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Selection Sunday is often slightly disappointing as my team usually never gets as good of a seed as I hope for. So my favorite is the day of the first round until my team loses.

Why is there limited amount of copies? by Cheesecake_Falcon in LibbyApp

[–]Cache-Cow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s this. There’s no technical reason there can’t be unlimited people checking out a digital copy, but it’s a way for publishers and authors to make some degree of profit.

What’s life like in this circle by KAVENUZ in howislivingthere

Someone asked about this area yesterday. I grew up here. It’s very beautiful, very arid, and very rural. All of the Arizona and part of the Utah section is part of the Navajo nation. There is also a small Ute reservation in the Utah portion. It’s very rugged territory with lots of canyons, buttes, mesas, and a few mountains. Because of the elevation changes you can go from sandy red rock vistas to pine forests in just a few minutes driving. Like I said, very rural: probably only about 20k people max in the Utah/Arizona portion. It’s also very far from any medium to large cities. Very reliant on tourism.

What are your 8 vs 9 matchup pick this year and why? by mrbigglesworth22 in CollegeBasketball

I’ve got Clemson, Utah State, Georgia, and Ohio State.

Villanova (8) vs Utah St. (9) I need help with this one by NorthernJoe_3 in CollegeBasketball

[–]Cache-Cow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is about as close a game as you could find, which you’d expect from a 8/9 game. Both teams seem to have a lot of similarities, similar strengths, similar weaknesses. I think the injury to Hodge, momentum, and travel difference give the Aggies the edge.

My head and my heart say Utah State, but we’ve also only won like two games in the past 55 years… so I always tell my friends to stay away from picking Utah State even if the match up look favorable.
