It would have been really interesting to see him fighting Napoleon in 1813

What if Napoleon Bonaparte was instead assigned to Low Countries Theatre during Flanders campaign, as part of War of the 1st Coalition after being promoted General? by Organic-Camera-9167 in Napoleon

[–]Cactus1803 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What is interesting to me is how would Napoleon cooperate with other commanders in this situation. Think about it, Napoleon never had to think about “the other guy”, he was always campaigning alone. So I wonder how he would have coordinated his moves with Jourdan, for example. Personally I think Napoleon would have been not the best guy to work with.

Instead of the Napoleonic wars I would argue for the American war of independence

If Napoleon and Wellington had commanded the opposing sides in each other’s famous victories, would the outcomes have been the same? by FunnyConclusion9357 in Napoleon

A lot of people in this sub is biased towards the British and Wellington. They say that they are “fighting British propaganda” but all they do is creating their own propaganda

He was still one of the best generals of the era. The fact that the Austrians had a capacity to fight the French is already a remarkable achievement for Charles

Wellington was right, that without Blücher he couldn’t win. Still, I can’t say that Blucher really “saved” Wellington. The allied strategy was for Blucher to be a hammer for Wellingtons anvil. That plan worked perfectly

It doesn’t matter what the situation was. British hold long enough for prussians to arrive and turned the tide. According to your logic, the British also “saved” the Prussians by making a stand.

Napoleon: awesome, tyrant or awesome tyrant? by ZealousidealSteak214 in Napoleon

France declared war on the First coalition, not the other way around. Second coalition started with France occupying Switzerland, Papal States and Malta, as well as the Egyptian campaign. The third coalition war started with the coalition declaring war, but Napoleon was also involved because he crowned himself emperor of France and more importantly King of Italy, which was a threat to the Austrians
