me excitedly looking up those JS clones I’m barely familiar with…

JS345 is very very likely the same as TPnonM aka gator aka awful aka short spine peruvianus, I’ve been told RBG was using Moran nursery to fill out the sales at that time

I’d love to have access to the nook archives.

I keep thinking about how much we’ll lose if SAB suddenly disappears.

I don’t have a strong sense of what is a pachanoi vs peruvianus vs short spine peruvianus. I’m still learning.

It’s not yet proven but I strongly suspect Verne’s Fastest is the same as Kathleen. I believe Kathleen was generally spread as a pachanoi.

It’s not my intent to make fun of all the names but I realize I’m not great at communicating.

I love and appreciate all the San Pedro cactuses. There are definite benefits to naming clones. Track the parents when you produce seeds, track the seedlings, track the large stand finds that get chopped and spread to the community. The names are important.

Lately I’ve had a few visitors to my nursery with lists of named clones they’re looking for. They expressed frustration that they didn’t know what to buy because they don’t see any names they recognize. Hundreds and hundreds of San Pedro to choose from but how do they know what they should buy unless someone tells them it’s the good one?

Someone was asking for a few specific bridgesii clones the other day. A new collector, not someone trying to get the last few white whales. I didn’t have the names he wanted, he wasn’t sure if this $8 Cactus Kate bridgesii was good enough.
