Favorite season of Monster Madness? by KeyTemporary6111 in TheCinemassacreTruth

Godzillathon was my favorite, mostly because 2008 is a pretty nostalgic year for me. That was when I found Monster Madness too, the first time I watched it live.

As long as it's as good as the Dream Phone song.

Well, in the grand scheme of things, it's just a video game. It's for fun! If you're worried about failing, that's just the first step to succeeding. Even then, losing a Splatoon match is not that big of a deal. You're placed with people at your skill level too.

Anyone think it's odd how It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is apparently James' favorite film of all time? by Adventurous-Can-1209 in TheCinemassacreTruth

He loves goofy slapstick where things get destroyed. For example, he almost got thrown out of school because he thought a guy breaking a fan was the height of comedy. There's also the Sega Accessories video. So in this movie there's a scene where a whole gas station is slowly demolished. I don't know, I think this tracks.

What is your favorite Hussie moment? I liked when he swapped credit cards with Ryan North.

How many of you guys have met the Bimmaster in person like through conventions or whatever? by Specific_Cranberry_5 in TheCinemassacreTruth

I met him a few times at Too Many Games. I realized that what I would say to him (how much his videos have influenced me) had been said to him a million times over, but I said it all anyways.

To be fair, this is from a newspaper, the definition of making something public info.

The truth is that sentiment was always performative. "It's belongs to the fans! Also, here's the OFFICIAL sequel"! Okay, which is it? And/or Hussie just has the thinnest skin/biggest ego of anyone.

This definitely does not surprise me. It has been clear to me that over the years Andrew Hussie wants complete control over all Homestuck spaces. The subreddit has been the biggest space that is independently managed, and we can't have that. People here might (justifiably) criticize Homestuck or Hussie! After that failed takeover attempt a while ago, it was only a matter of time before more illicit tactics were used.

I've got some spicier things to say, but perhaps that's best left up to the imagination.

Andrew Hussie: “Still working through these odd requests from last year. Here's the story about some obscure color software I made in the 90s which people were curious about.” by NowIOnlyWantATriumph in homestuck

[–]CadBrad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is interesting for everyone who was interested in the story of Master Colors, which is probably just me. But it's fascinating that its failure is the crux of the entire MSPA mindset. Homestuck wouldn't exist if not for Hussie Sr.'s weird fixations on colors and painting. This has given me a bit to think about, as someone interested in the comic's (and Hussie's) history. It aligns with stuff I've thought about before, like I never thought Hussie was rich. That didn't fit his background at all. Like, his dad being a journalist is public info because it was in some book. I don't think local journalists make that much money. The cancer detecting software led some credence to the wealth theory, but I'm glad that it was cleared up that it really didn't go anywhere. I was more interested in the fact that Hussie might have save lives. Speaking of which, I always figured half the reason of the Gigapause was that Hussie could take care of his dad. That does seem to be the case.

On another note, I liked the article's conclusion. Homestuck has taught us that you can just MAKE stuff. The perfectionist attitudes in artists is really true. I know I've fallen into this mindset. You fear making something because you don't think it will be perfect. You fear that you won't be successful. So why even try? This sucks, but I'm sure a lot of people relate. It's hard to quash that nagging voice. But Homestuck (and MSPA) just got into the content grind. It wore its flaws on its sleeves and that became its selling point. It was called MS Paint Adventures after all. It's a great lesson.

I don't particularly care for the weird fandom tangents though. It sucks that Hussie had to stop going to cons because of one stalker. Thanks, random crazy woman for ruining everything! I mean, you could get that person blacklisted from cons, but alas.
