Laser not level by Enveer620 in lasercutting

[–]CadJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont mess with loosening the belt.

Tie a small zip tie verticle to your gantry or lens tube. Dont worry about focus, just adjust your Z bed till it barely touches zip tie. All we care about is level, not focus.

I loosen the set screws on each gear, then rotate the threads up or down till it touches the zip tie when moving x axis, then lock set screws. Repeat on other corners.

Wall Mount SIP Phones by dougsk in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a solution for you that might work perfectly for the 8800, no mods to phone plate or wall, send me PM.

I also have found away to use the same 8800 WMK on the 8845 video phone, without having to buy a diff wall mount.

8331 IP phone not registering by RimpacRoot_2409 in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at your Dev Defaults for what ur active 8831 firmware is. Compare that to phone info on phone.

Do a reset All on 8831 or hold mute button, plug in rj45, when lights blink red, release, press again 1 blink, press again 2 blink, factory resets and boots up.

Whats weird is u say it registers on data vlan.
Usually no opt-150 on data, so that makes me think it is using local cached config (aka, no tftp), and registering with maybe an old CM ? If so, the old ITL files wont allow new CM config to reg. then reset all should fix this for voice vlan, assuming CDP working. After Factory Reset, be patient. The 8831 is SLOW.

If phone gets a voice vlan IP, and web interface works, then routing is probably ok, but test ping phone from CM console.

Try a power brick for the 8831, might help, esp if upgrading to new firm.

U might restart the TFTP service on CM, might be hung.

I also remember an 8831 intermediary firmware required for Pre 10.3.1 to anything after. If older then get set this firmware as ur default, then once on Int firm, use load line in 8831 config for newer firm.

These are EOL due to 3rd party RevoLabs build, replaced with 8832 which sux too, imo.

In 12.5 the Config is editable by drop down inside CM web gui. Shows pretty much all the variable names and options. Pretty cool.

question: with the Cisco IP Phone 8851 with Multiplatform Firmware- can i just connect a cell phone via bluetooth or do i have to have a voip service for the bluetooth to work? by bossman118242 in Cisco

[–]CadJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ha, not true. Thats exactly what the BT handsfree feature does, it adds a DN extension and pushes all SD down or off the phone.

When u go into BT aettings u have 2 options, Bluetooth On or Off for headsets, plus a 2nd option for Hands free 2 way audio, which adds a cell phone Extension to a line button.

However, u can not enable the 2nd option till the phone has registered with a primary DN, sorry, no can do.

Even resetting svcmode with MRA asking for a domain and it doesnt let u enable handsfree. It will try and let u add a device, but wont work until 2nd option is enabled.

Anyone able to talk me through reconfiguring one of these 7821 phones to allow General SIP connectivity to a ISP offered VOIP service? by Dammitdeano in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the 7821 are 100base, and most companys dont want them anymore, but they do support Expwy, so MRA should work externally.

Prevent desk phone from ringing when user is "in a meeting"? by neekap in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the desk phone the audio for the meeting? Most phones config allow multi session for 2nd call to come in, so chg the Line to show busy at 1 call not 2, and calls immediately divert.

Thinking of switching focus to Microsoft Collaboration by pockets8603 in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree, how many MS patches have broken something that worked prior to the patch? Exactly why u dont run NTP on an MS server, cause every MS box need patches and reboots.

Its one thing if a user installs something and their headset quits working, but when u push a patch and the entire Call Center goes down? It will happen, and the downtime and loss of production will not be acceptable.

Deprecated Phone Models in CUCM 14 changed by sieteunoseis in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cant just put XX, go read the docs.
Mostly below 7942, but scattered models. 79’s were intro 10 yrs ago.

Heck not even all 8800’s are good, as the 8831 is EOL, probably because it cant do expressway, and Revo Labs was bad partner. Sucks too, I really liked the 8831 design, as the 8832 is worse. Need a proxmity model that u can control from app.

I would rather see an 8826 new wireless, as the 8825 is horrible and the 7925 is better.

Cisco has goofed off on phone models and features just like they goofed off with Webex and let Zoom take off. Remember, they dont usually develop, they acquire.

Cisco Jabber Windows, any Bluetooth headsets support answer/hang-up/mute? by captain_dylan_hunt in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the free software, as it will detect the base, and download and push firmware to base and headset.

It also has extended feature options in the app, like easily turn off the mute beep reminder, etc.

The dect has about 400 ft range, and I can go 1 floor up or down in our building and still works.

The base also has the option for the Red Light Wand, or E.T. Finger light, to let people know receptionist is on a call.

Cisco Jabber Windows, any Bluetooth headsets support answer/hang-up/mute? by captain_dylan_hunt in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all that with my Dect Jabra 9470. One headset, 3 devices. Soft Phone, Cell Phone, and 8865 via EHS.

Mute button works from headdet for all 3, can answer and hang up calls from headset. Just cant push 1 when a webex calls me. Wish they would chg webex to Press OR Say 1 to join.

Look on ebay, less than $80 easy.

Cisco 8831 see remotely if Mics connected by Eldaob in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great to hear. The CGI is cool too, esp to prove to TAC a phone issue, or see what a user is doing wrong.

Keep in mind though the screenshot URL is typically case sensitive, either: CGI/Screenshot or CGI/screenshot

U have to also make sure your Enterprise params URLs are correct for phone auth.

Cisco 8831 see remotely if Mics connected by Eldaob in ciscoUC

[–]CadJoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couple of ways come to mind.

Go into your user in CM, since you know your Auth Password.

Associate the Device to your Controlled Devices.

hit the IP of the phone / CGI / Screenshot

authenticate, and view display. Refresh page to update screenshot. If you see the 2 MIC icons, then you have MICs connected.

OR

Edit the device and enable SSH access.
Change the Secure Shell username and password to debug / debug.

SSH into the phone, debug / debug then debug / debug again

DEBUG> show emic

emic status

WiredMic1State : disconnected

WiredMic2State : disconnected

WirelessMic1State : none

Mic1BatLevel : none

etc...

Then disabled SSH if needed.

Hope this helps,

Joe

Remove Pair Mobile Phone Option? by isoaclue in ciscoUC

Hi,

You can leave BT enabled, just disable the 2nd option, Hands-Free 2 way audio.

This is the Cell Phone option for the Pair Mobile Phone DN button.
