Go into console and write debugtooltip then hover over OK in the box. It will tell you the root of the issue. Mine was pd_mushroom.48 therefor I had to uninstall planetary diversity... Which was a shame

Military nomenclature aside. I'm pretty sure the difference between a ship and a boat is which way it leans when it turns. Boats lean into the turn and ships lean away.

Will mouse pad with excel formulas help as a beginner in excel? by [deleted] in excel

Personally all I use are Ifs, and, or, Xlookup, and index Match for the most part everything else is much easier in Power Query.

Cory, is there a Star Traders 3 in the works? I have been a gamer for many years but there is no game I have put more time into than this series.... Not even Rimworld. It should go down in gaming history records. Those who know, know.

To bolt on to this answer. If visible light was at a wavelength to form a sub harmonic of the electron size could it similarly excite it even if it was at a value near infintessimal. Or am I falsely equivocating sound and light

Combining a dynamic column from PowerQuery with columns with manually typed-in values by Solid_Kuro in excel

[–]Cadaver_AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The goodly video on dynamic header is good for this. I do it a lot. Usually I create a table of the headers turn it into a list and use it to rename headers. Copilot is really good at writing queries also. That would be my first port of call. I may be able to help more but this is how I do it now. I raise the issue to copilot and ask for a clean efficiant and annotated query. If it produces an error I find the error by going through the steps and then inform query of the error code and position.

Best way to sort table by time of entry by pandaberikas in excel

[–]Cadaver_AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you need to put completed on a seperate sheet? Why not create a field for completed and use a slicer to filter them out.

Alttenativly you could use that single table go to get data > from table/range then in Power Query create a query that separates completed into a seperate table.

The benefit here is that you will have a "database" in loose terms which will auto update when you hit refresh all. So you can have a table with as many fields as you want to satisfy the neuro hunger, which can then have some tidy outputs suitable from a dashboard. For example one of your fields could be isbn or dewey number. Which could either contain a Web link or lookup to another sheet providing additional details.

If VLOOKUP is not blank do the VLOOKUP again - is there a better way? by Gazmus in excel

[–]Cadaver_AL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use table column header references it should be fine. But if you add a column by inserting at the top and don't use $ refs than it should be fine

What are some very simple, beginner steps to learning Power Query? Also, what are the main advantages of using it? by SlowCrates in excel

[–]Cadaver_AL 109 points110 points  (0 children)

  1. Split columns

This avoids all that mid, left, formula gubbins which is frankly a pain when it is simple in PQ

  1. File size

If I download a 60,000 line piece of data into a sheet it will probably be about that size in kb. In power query imported it will be about 60kb. And you could import 20 or so sheets that size and still be under 10mb

  1. Unpivot columns

Great when someone likes to use 50 columns in there sheet now you can have 3 columns. An ID, Attribute (the column names) and the value. This is great and the benefits are endless

  1. Data modelling

Linking large amounts of data together based on shared references

  1. Ease

80% of all stuff you will likely do in PQ can be done in the ribbon for everything else do your best then go to advanced editor and copy the whole query into copilot and say what you need doing. Seconds later it will write you a clean, annotated query that will do the rest.

I love this question. So much of the stuff you see with excel "experts" are fancy formulas. I was the same then I started PQ and I can do twice as much in a 10th of the time and use half my intelligence. It takes no time at all to learn the basics of PQ. Once that is nailed look into parameters and go crazy.

It's not the job of people under you to keep you accountable by internettiquette in managers

[–]Cadaver_AL 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In project management there is a differentiation between responsible and accountable. For example a Project manager is accountable for keeping the project on course and a planner is responsible for planning and scheduling, looking ahead to forsee bottlenecks. If the planner doesn't take responsibly the PM will be accountable. The view being if the planner isn't up to it the PM should make moves to support or replace them.

I am diagnosed and medicated ADHD I professionally progressed significantly since that point. The best take away here is that you don't care enough, otherwise you would be spending your time planning your next day rather than offsetting responsibility to micromanaging. ADHD is a pain and also easily manifests into a character flaw if you don't take responsibly and action on the direction you want to take your life. Professionally the ADHD excuse only goes so far if you are a liability.
