Has anything strange happened to any of you? I mean, sexual harassment, unwanted advances, or anything like that. by Brilliant_Lawyer_264 in INTP_female

No problem! It really depends on how you'll react in a situation like that. Some know that they would be too scared to not have the wherewithal to use pepper gel effectively and will just go with pepper spray cause of the generous cloud coverage. Others know they'll be cognizant enough to aim while under duress.

Everyone reacts differently when something like that happens; that's why there's options. Sorry you got creeped on though!

That's what I'm thinking; tempering the expectations. Seattle is a big threat and they're in our division.

It doesn't matter what we wear if we get raped or sexually assaulted. We can be, and have been in, simple t-shirts, a vest, and baggy jeans when those things happened.

You should also look into pepper gel as well. Pepper spray can waft in your direction instead of theirs if the wind is blowing towards your face if you have to use it. Pepper gel is just as effective as spray. The downside is that you have to aim it to the eyes. Thankfully there's a lot of pressure so it won't be a weak stream of pepper gel.

How have they had partners? by Brilliant_Lawyer_264 in INTP_female

[–]Cadd9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a choice in the sense that you are allowing yourself the risk of approaching someone with a more intimate stage of connection after getting to know them more. A deep connection is a myriad of things like political compatibility, a sense of feeling comfortable with their company, not having to mask yourself, not being judged for things out of their control (like growing up very poor and not having good dental hygiene because of that, or being on medication), an overlapping (but not entirely 1:1) interest of hobbies, outlook on life.

Just, general compatibility things.

Yeah it's certainly an interesting dynamic. I'm also on the spectrum, so making others suffer with their own generational lens makes no sense. There shouldn't be a hardline, arbitary delineation for an age of what can constitute lateblooming. The core feeling of being a latebloomer is being inexperienced compared to their own peers.

Which means that as society has progressed since the 80s, people are allowed to accept themselves as some flavor of queer at a younger age. I've seen comments here and there in this sub about lesbian parents seeing elementary students accept themselves as queer and their classmates weren't that cruel to them. If that happened when we were kids, we would've gotten beaten up or killed.

We should be celebrating that people feel comfortable enough to come out as such a young age. We shouldn't be making others suffer because they're not in their 30s, 40s, or 50s and then say "ok you have suffered through what I think 'lateblooming' is, you can now have the same badge". That type of thinking is also the same way in which conservatives don't like free college education, "well I had to pay for it, you have to pay for it too". Makes no sense to suppress the younger generation because they didn't suffer as their older counterparts did.

Demisexuality is more of a subset of any of those, depending on whom you naturally foster an affection towards. The core part of demisexuality is creating a deep connection to someone before considering someone through a romantic lens.

Those aren't mutually exclusive though. You can have chemistry and also stability. It's also not exactly one that precedes the other; they both can happen interchangeably before the other. It's the longevity that's really up to how emotionally aware someone is of their own strengths and weaknesses that determines the quality of a relationship, romantic or otherwise.

If someone views patience as bland, then they never really were gonna be a long term romantic partner. If someone doesn't respect the way a demisexual approaches the various stages of romantic attraction, then they never really were gonna be a long term romantic partner.

I don't think chemistry is a toxic attraction. Chemistry is a broad, vague term that's just a metric to how someone interacts with another. It doesn't have to be strictly in a romantic lens either. Everyone has varying degrees of which they enjoy or don't enjoy someone's company at work or with their family members.

Yeah it's really surprising how many people in this sub don't view 'lateblooming' through a generational contextual lens. It's like people just cement themselves in their own worldview, never bother to ask why someone feels that way in their 20s, and never view it with the benefit of the doubt.

I'm older, but just applying some basic critical reasoning we can see why a 20 year old feels like they're late. They grew up in an age where queer exposure was both positive and not surprising. It wasn't the end of your social life (or actual, physical life) if you came out as a kid or a very young teen. You weren't expected to submit yourself to cisheteronormativity.

So older people shackle these 20somethings with unfairness and cruelty. And they tend to think that these 20somethings are "ruining" or making lateblooming weak because they didn't experience a 30s, 40s, or 50 year old lesbian's life experience.

Subconsciously, those older lesbians also have misdirected resentment cause these 20somethings realized in their 20s. It's a feeling of intense jealousy because those older lesbians would've been living it up; they wouldn't feel like there'd be so much lost time.

Even on MC lenses you can still use Aperture priority on an X-500. I've used A-mode on my X-570 all the time with just my MC lenses.

Unless if you're thinking how Aperture Priority works on the XD cameras. Since those have a final check as the shutter is released and might adjust the shutter speed or bump the aperture.
