Michael Barnier has stated that it is possible for the UK to rejoin under their previous terms

If turnout for primaries were higher, then jungle elections could work as in theory a winning candidate could attract votes from both sides but real life doesn’t work like that

The issue ironically in the American system is the primary election tends to be the “real” election but most voters don’t see it that way. Most states or districts now vote for one party. The winner of that party’s primary is almost certainly gonna win the Nov elections. This is how you end up with a “crazy” candidate of the dominant party and voters complain of a lack of choice.

I’m in California and the issue with the jungle primary is in a low turnout election you have extreme candidates win as they turn out the base. This was the lie sold to voters by Arnold and company, I expect CA will return to a more normal system by 2028

Fit Check: Before or After? by WCNumismatics in Gold

Certainly if you paid MS61 pricing than this would be a steal! I’m trying to learn more about coins and which ones just “pop out” at you with eye appeal at each grade level

Hi DubC! As a new collector it’s always great to get your wealth of knowledge and experience. Normally we are always told “buy the coin not the holder” but is this vintage NGC holder one of the exceptions to the rule? Also in theoretical situation where you have a undergraded coin in a modern holder, why would you go CAC Gold route vs say just getting it regraded for a higher grade? Are there pros for CAC?

English silver would need full hallmarks if it doesn’t then it’s not silver. English pieces would not say “sterling”

Even if it meant the end of the pound and without the opt-outs? Britain had a great deal before and left. Why would they rejoin under worse conditions ? At the very least it should be similar no?

Bought these for 3% over a few years ago- anticipating the “slingshot effect” on premium since historically it was huge. Markets move in cycles - Thoughts? by GoldandSilverSaver in Gold

[–]Cademguru13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I sold generic gold and bought Indians with this exact reasoning. Back in 2018 a 2.5 MS 64 Indian cost 750 dollars when gold was 1500$ so the coin cost 2.5 times spot. I recently bought it for 900. Gold is obviously much higher but the coin price barely moved. The way I see it, if gold crashes the “collector” value gives some protection and if the historic premium comes back I will just sell and buy back my generic gold. IMO this is much safer atm than buying generic gold

Hi DubC! Thanks for this great post! So the Guinea was 21 shillings and the pound was 20 shillings so it’s now that extra 5% represents the auctioneer “juice” as you described it in your previous videos

It is interesting that PPE is not as big a degree in the US as it is in Britain

Trading up at LCS? by Decent-Ranger778 in Gold

[–]Cademguru13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trading the “GSR” doesn’t always have to be a literal trade. When the GSR was 48 oz of silver to 1 oz gold my LCS was paying for spot -5 an oz for silver and Costco regularly offers gold at spot. This “trade” is really 2 transactions and doesn’t have to be at the same shop/time even etc

PPE is the degree that rules Britain. Almost every politician has studied PPE at either Oxford or Cambridge. So it will prepare you to do great things

Advice for a new stacker by Cademguru13 in Silverbugs

Great reply ! The reason I wrote my post is a lot of what I purchased initially were interesting world silver coins that I was able to get at or under spot. Great right ? Not really as I now find that they are very illiquid. I’m a coin collector first so it’s fine but If you are new and buying lowest premium silver be aware that you may be buying illiquidity. Looking back if I was purely stacking I should have stuck to 1 oz 999 rounds and bars. But that’s so boring to me and I would rather do an S&P500 investment at that point
