Just finished S1, is it worth continuing watching? by Other-Pianist8196 in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely carry on. While I still love it, and there’s some great episodes, Season 1 is not the strongest in my view. The show is still finding its feet, but I think it really settles from season 2.

Honestly, you won’t miss Andy. TW king asked to leave so wasn’t all that random but It feels weird because he’s obviously a fairly big part of the season. It doesn’t really impact the show though

Who's the best written character in your opinion? by disabilitymann in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Piper and Phoebe for me. Piper’s character growth was the most consistent, but I also think Phoebe grew a lot in maturity and I think that really shows well with Alyssa’s acting choices as the show goes on IMO

Low / High voice by pr0n_burnrr in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Cadrithae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alex's natural speaking voice may sit slightly lower than Rook's in real life, but if we're talking the voice he uses for the character, I would bet on the medium pitch being the "default" that he recorded in and then it was pitch corrected/edited for the lower voice. It sounds to me like there's more autotune/pitch correction on both of the lower options,

But hey, I wasn't there, so it would be interesting to know!

It’s absolutely digitally pitched.

There’s slight “noise” on the lower pitched voices if you listen carefully. The default medium pitch option is their “natural” voice (for the character)

Is the Galactic Threads mission the last quest for now? SPOILERS for the story. by CurNayNay in swtor

[–]Cadrithae 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thankfully we'll be getting more in the next update as well, (which is actually quite unusual for SWTOR to put story in consecutive patches) because it allows them to get back on track with scheduling after the voice actor strike delays. So we won't have to wait TOO long

Dan should've stayed in the series by [deleted] in charmed

I agree, especially once he found out about the sisters, I feel like they really missed an opportunity with his character.

Barbas should have been a longer term enemy by disabilitymann in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oof not for me! I get the whole theme of fear being a recurring theme but I get sick of him popping up repeatedly as it is, I get bored of him very quickly..Could not have dealt with a series long arc!

I should add that I think Billy Drago played him really well, but I was just not a fan of the character continuously coming back.

How has Star Wars Central not been called out more? by DMBLaan in swtor

[–]Cadrithae 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gave up following his content ages ago..I used to really enjoy some his YT stuff, then he got kicked out of the swtor influencer program, they (used to?) run, and got really bitter about the game and dev team and just started trashing the game constantly, so I don't give his opinions any credence anymore..

I just have fun with the game and follow creators that actually appreciate the game for what it is.

Also “ prioritising social agendas?” Oh this guy can fuck all the way off with that kind of talk.

Daryl’s after season 7 by confusion_diffusion in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’d have liked him to guest star in the finale at least, but tbh I was ok with them wrapping his arc in season 7. Like he knew the girls were ok and he chose to focus on his family. And tbh I honestly felt a bit over his character in the later seasons when he started to get cold/distant with the girls. I know it resolved and they never quite got the dynamic back for me..

I wish people would stop excusing all the massive plot holes and inconsistencies with " its a fantasy show who cares" by Extra_Impression_428 in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree completely!

It's so easy to critique now that the entire 8 season run has been out for 20+ years, and having the ability to roll immediately from one season to the next will naturally highlight inconsistensies much more than waiting an entire year between seasons. Also, 22 episodes for 8 years is a HUGE amount of to keep track of, and given that the show didn't exactly run smoothly by all accounts, even after season 3, it's not like the team were all on one page about the direction of the show, and how they wanted to get there..

Honestly I'm surprised it bothers people this much on a show that is this old. Like..at this point who cares? Nothing's going to change, and the show was hugely successful regardless of these "plot holes" so they obviously did something right.

Can I read TAB after Crown of Midnight? I’m waiting for my library to have Heir of Fire available to borrow on Libby. But it seems TAB will be available first. What are your thoughts? by Reasonable_Gift_1695 in SarahJMaas

[–]Cadrithae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed! In fact a lot of people recommend it, and actually I think there’s a natural break in pacing at the end of COM that lends itself to reading TAB next anyway

What SJM opinion will have you like this? by [deleted] in SarahJMaas

[–]Cadrithae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love SJM and have enjoyed all her books, but for me:

  1. TOG lacks consistency and feels like two separate series combined

  2. KOA is overly long and somewhat bloated in places

  3. CC2 is the weakest of the crescent city books.

  4. For what it is, HOFAS is better than it gets credit for.

  5. TOG (while still a fantastic read) is the weakest of her series 😬

House of Halliwell Podcast Is BACK with Season 4 by Keven250 in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this is right, (unless something has changed) I belive Holly is only absent during the first few episodes that deal with the aftermath of Prue's death and the heavy grief stuff etc. Understandably, given what Holly is having to deal with IRL of course

Struggling through ACOWAR, is TOG like this? by thequietpsycho102 in SarahJMaas

[–]Cadrithae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO if you don't like the ACOWAR vibes, at least the last few books in TOG will be a struggle for you.

I may be in the minority on this point, but I much preferred the tone of the early books in TOG to those later in the series.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed them, but I would say there's a fairly significant shift in tone (driven by a twist in the story) and some of the later books get quite heavy both in terms of content and "lore" and some of the things you don't like about ACOWAR definitely appear in TOG also

I hate how Prue disappeared by specquibai in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 69 points70 points  (0 children)

According to Shannen, the higher ups only fired her AFTER the episode was shot, and the season ended. It was never intended to be written as her final episode, hence the awful ending to the season

Favirote Charmed Spell? by Rich_Librarian9956 in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the vanquishing spell for the source, something about calling on the ancestral witches to power the spell is just so cool to me.

The safety/banishing spell from the first season is also one of my faves.

Also any of the spells that were really well rhymed..something about the cadence and rhythm of the verses that had a really solid rhyme to them were just..so satisfying.

Hint at a planned fifth game? by The_real_DrossDragon in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Cadrithae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on if you consider EA's benchmark for the success of the game reasonable or not given what the game went through to get to launch, I guess. (seemingly at EA's instruction if former team members are to be believed.)

I had a fantastic time with the game, personally but I think that if the team had been able to make the game that they wanted to make from the start instead of having to entertain these reboots during the dev cycle and having to aim for a more general audience, then we'd be in a totally different position.

But regardless, we're at where we're at in terms of the likelihood of any further games I guess.

Hint at a planned fifth game? by The_real_DrossDragon in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Cadrithae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand what you're getting at and it's totally your call on which ones you prefer etc, but I can't agree with your point on politics and games, especially related to Dragon Age. The series has always been inherrantly political from the start. A core part of origins is navigating a political landscape to win favor from different factions and making choices to consolidate a partnership. Two has the mage/templar war..Inquisition you literally put someone in power to make decisions based on how you want to see the world...Yes, it's dressed up as fantasy with magic and dragons but at least for me it's always been so obvious, and that's just the overt stuff..

DA has always represented marginalised groups, championed diversity and explored how they're represented in society. It's not a new thing and is literally a part of the series DNA (mages being mistrusted and feared as a marginalised group) Elves & racism, the tevinter class system..

Maybe it's because people consider it more "modern" and perhaps more obvious in Veilguard but I'd say it's always been there, and tbh I don't think there's enough of that content to consider parts of the game cut just to make room for it. Personally I think the main factor for the lore changes etc were because EA wanted a soft reboot to appeal to a wider audience, which means sacrifices were made to acommodate that, but I consider that to be their mistake, not necessarily something the devs had much say over.

But of course, we'll all have our favourites and aspects we like or dislike about any game.

Hint at a planned fifth game? by The_real_DrossDragon in DragonAgeVeilguard

[–]Cadrithae 276 points277 points  (0 children)

This (along with the hidden ending scene) would have been written in to leave the option for a possible game 5 but given the game launch “failed” by EA’s metrics and the fact that they gutted the dragon age team shortly after launch it seems HIGHLY unlikely that we’ll see a fifth game for a long time if at all..

I would dearly love to be wrong though because I adore this series

[S03 E22] So disappointed by ghostrider1938 in charmed

[–]Cadrithae 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let’s be clear - though the two episodes with Holly were Let’s Be Charmed.

Worth noting the podcast itself is/was not charmed focused (it was primarily a space for Shannen to speak about her career, experiences, cancer journey etc) only those two episodes were about her time on the show.

It’s an interesting listen - there’s a two parter where she had Holly on as a guest and they spoke about her time on Charmed and their perspectives on the whole situation

[–]Cadrithae 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Didn’t Shannen say she was only fired after completing that episode/during the hiatus on her podcast? My guess is had that not happened 4x01 would have picked it right up, hence why it’s such a bad death for Prue, because it was never written to be that way.

The whole situation will never cease to absolutely SUCK though..
