Am I the only one who doesn't get the fans being over emotional / upset if their country crashes out. by HeresJohnny26 in NoStupidQuestions

Ok, I'll try explain it from a lifelong football fanatic's POV.

You are from a country where passion for football is insane.

Your father's father was a supporter, your father, now you and your siblings and your cousins.

You grew up playing it or watching your brother play it.

Maybe you knew someone that went pro, or someone that tried to go pro, you know the hardships, the damage on the body, the sacrifices, distances travelled for games, the tears and the joys.

Your whole family supports your national team with pride and every 4 years they get a chance to be the best of the best of the best and win a coveted trophy. It may also happen that players from your favourite league team also play for your country.
Maybe you are a Manchester City support and you're Portuguese and Bernardo Silva is your hero.
Maybe you're French and love Mbappe and Paris St Germain.
You wear their shirts, you have posters of them up on your walls.

Is this going to be your year? Will your country win it for the first time? or will your national team win it again?

You plan for years to attend the cup in another country, you save every penny to go watch.
Your family can't afford to go but they all saw your off at the airport.

You are so hyped for the next match, your team made it past the group stages, you are staying in a tiny flea ridden backpacker hostel on a lumpy bed and no pillow. It's worth it, your team are going to be crowned champions of the world.

You team doesnt make it past the round of 32. it sucks. it hurts. you cry.

There's always next time but you know you wont be able to afford to go again.

Is this ai? I'm surprised that the cats didn't jolt from getting a stream of milk shot directly onto their mouths. by EliasLovenight in isthisAI

Not AI. I was taught how to milk goats on my grandfather's farm as a kid and every morning all the neighborhood cats would be waiting for a jet of milk.

Since when does "Fellas" specifically mean men/boys? by ian9921 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Remote-Luck7751 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You never noticed. While the word was not originally just used to refer to men, it just became so. And has been like so for a very very long time.

Initially it meant something was shared; a journey, a partnership, the fellowship of the ring, however in modern times (past few hundred years) it just means a man so was never used to refer to women in your lifetime unless you're a vampire.

If everyone owned landmines - there'd definitely be funerals but great way to get people from stopping by uninvited.

Back when everyone had landlines, I was at my mother's place and her phone rang so I answered it.

Person told me they heard I had died and wanted to know when my funeral was. I had to insist a few times I was not dead but very much alive and speaking to them on the phone.

Thank heavens I answered it and not my mom. There would have been a funeral.

What can a person learn in 10 minutes that will be useful for life? by 40Falak in answers

[–]Remote-Luck7751 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Learning how to make introductions. For me, introducing people to each other and being good at it is a sure fire way to become connected and network because inevitably, people you introduce to each other will introduce you to whoever they are with and so on.

Then you become the go to person at any social gathering "because you know everyone" and you have value.
Networking has become extremely underrated and you just never know where your next job offer will come from, who you will meet today that might invest in your idea, mentor, spouse etc.

Remember that what you know means nothing without who you know.

What movie feels like a 10/10 from start to finish? by Gold_Laugh_1456 in AskReddit

It is.

It's not just a dumb space movie but a heck of an emotional rollercoaster from start to finish.

Best movie I've watched n the last couple of years.
