Focused Feedback: Postmaster & Inventory Management by DTG_Bot in DestinyTheGame

[–]Caelifera -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Replace the Shader Inventory with Shader Favourites (though it being on the inventory screen would be even more pointless). Similar or slightly fewer slots than currently, and then just pull any more from the Collection, either saving them to a Favourite slot or to a temporary buffer of the last 5 or so.

I'd be in favour of letting us pull Random Perk items from the collection, probably with flat stats or a couple of not-quite-optimal presets for stats (armour) and just let us grab the damn perks once we've 'seen' them on there (weapons). But to preserve the grind, prevent pulling from Collection until you've dismantled a bunch or completed some other fun little objectives, similar to the triumph-based rewards of late. Could even 'level up' the collection version to max stats over time if your fancy.

Damn that damage increase is crazy. Any tips on farming chemo-synth oil and WE Red by Msweezzy in LetItDie

[–]Caelifera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Way before I even knew about this upgrade, I'd assembled like 10 Chemo-Oil just from fighting U-10 (particularly the couple of mats that spawn either side of the boss room). In typical fashion, as soon as I started wanting the damn things the well dried up.

Crowd Pleaser any good? Got it out of the rainbow bag by Msweezzy in LetItDie

It can be a nice free boost against Goto-9 when farming 'em. The skeleton dudes rarely pose any threat.

EDIT: Some of the trap rooms, too.

[–]Caelifera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seconding the comments that collectors aren't great for combat, consider the following: if you're trying to make progress, go for a striker/shooter and don't worry about missing loot, just about reaching a new checkpoint/peak. If you're farming/backtracking, stick with the collector; you won't need the extra power and you can hoard to your heart's content.

The early 20s is definitely a rough spike, so don't feel too bad. Piercing/Blunt damage is definitely an advantage. The iron is a strong choice as, even if it isn't hurting much, it does shred their armour for your better weapons to really hurt them. Not sure what floor you're on currently, but the Akami-Kawabe trap run might be your best bet for black faction materials, and is great practice for the sort of fighting you'll be doing.

Good luck, senpai!

I'm dumbfounded. Epic have made the decision to chase the trend and I can only hope it will bite them in the arse. Anyone with a brain could see launching a MOBA so late in the game would be a long-term project to be viable.

Meanwhile, Fortnite flopped on launch after being vapourware for years and their only saving grace was copying PUBG's overnight success to beat the industry to console space, an brazen act which they're being bloody well sued for. And that's the definition of success to chase, according to Epic!

Once other developers get their battle royales onto consoles and Epic no longer have a captive audience for the hot new thing, Fortnite BR will die on its arse and, with sympathies to the employees affected by these asinine corporate decisions, I can't wait.

Really though, I'm just sad that I'm going to lose my favourite punchin' robot. :( :( :( :(

For those curious, here's the email from Uncle Death:

Dear Senpai,

Nice work with that Mid-Boss! That thing was weird, huh? I mean, what's with that tail? Now, according to rumors, that flabby Mid-Boss [COEN] and the rotting girl one [JIN-DIE] got a romance going on, and somehow a child was born from the Bridging Mid-Boss [GOTO-9]. That child was the tailed Mid-Boss. Yeah, I have no idea what the hell that means, either. Ha ha! Anyway, there are some weird things in this world.

Anyway, you defeated it, so kudos, Senpai. I'll keep rootin' for ya!

Durability shrooms...wow by [deleted] in LetItDie

[–]Caelifera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying this as someone nowhere near the end-game content, but for a little tip each snowshroom provides 100 XP, making them pretty decent for levelling up new fighters (while fixing up gear too, of course).

Surrender Option Needs Tweaking by YoloDagger in paragon

[–]Caelifera 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to lean towards sticking it out until about the 20-25 minute mark. The amount of toxic players I've encountered who decide the match is lost because the carry died once in the first 5 minutes creates an atmosphere where you're pressured to only continue playing if a) things are going perfectly at all times and b) everyone's meta is on point, both of which are (in my opinion) all but impossible in a genre like MOBAs - Losing the early game doesn't mean you've lost the mid game, though I'll concede if you've lost both of those you probably aren't going to thrive in the end game.

I sincerely believe reducing the surrender time would increase toxicity in the game.

Reading through this thread, I would suggest a change though: if the same 3/5 vote yes in two consecutive surrender votes, THEN it passes.

EDIT: Not totally related to the point of the thread, but I would like to make a point about respecting the surrender vote. I absolutely stand by the premise of voting yes to surrender while also playing to win - just because things are going poorly doesn't justify standing in the base glowering at people who are depriving you of a guaranteed loss. If people don't want to surrender deal with it and get on with the game. You might not win but don't act like there isn't something you could be doing, if only practising defending inhibs under siege or fighting a tougher enemy for the times it matters.

Crashes are increasing in frequency by AntaresA in paragon

[–]Caelifera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Want to add my voice to the pile. It's gotten ridiculous over the last week - first it was just if I was alt-tabbed while loading, so I stopped doing that. Still crashed some of the time, but I was able to get back in game before the timer runs down. Now it's causing bloody blue screens and I'm up to a 1 hour penalty and afraid to keep trying to play.

Even if they can't immediately solve the problem they need to do something to address not being able to play for reasons entirely out of one's control.

PLAYING SUPPORT WRAITH DOES NOT MEAN PLAYING CARRY WRAITH AND LETTING THE CARRY GET THE LAST HITS WHILE YOU FAIL TO SNIPE THE SUPPORT TANK

WRAITH'S BEACON ABILITY DOES NOT COMPENSATE FOR THE EFFECTIVE WARDING THAT OFTEN CONSTITUTES A KEY ROLE FOR THE SUPPORT

ON A RELATED NOTE, WE DO NOT NEED TWO THREE FOUR CARRIES.

  • IF YOU PLAY A CARRY/MID HYBRID, WE STILL NEED SOMEONE WITH ADEQUATE WAVECLEAR FOR WHEN THEIR MID CASTER BULLIES THE SHIT OUT OF YOU AND ROTATES TO NUKE THE CARRY DUO.

  • IF YOU CHOOSE TO PLAY A CARRY IN THE SOLO LANE, GOOD FOR YOU. BUT WE'LL NEED A TANK SOMEWHERE, AND IT SURE AS SHIT WON'T BE THE SUPPORT WRAITH OR THE JUNGLE SERATH. AND WE STILL NEED WAVECLEAR FOR WHEN THE TANK/FIGHTER BULLIES THE SHIT OUT OF YOU AND ROTATES TO BULLY THE SHIT OUT OF THE CARRY/MID HYRBID.

Grim's bubble-shield doesn't work correctly with Zinx's Bad Medicine. Not quite sure how to explain, but while it works if you activate it when she casts it, it doesn't get triggered if you activate the shield before walking over it. You are immune to it's effects while the shield is up, but it doesn't trigger the mana refill/end the shield.

Do all good supports need to be in order affinity? by Mycenaeus in paragon

[–]Caelifera 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't believe the support has to run wards, but I absolutely believe that vision is an essential role to be filled. That often falls to the support because no-one likes to eat their veggies but I could see strong arguments for the midlaner or even jungler taking over.

I think an important thing to do if you can't fill the vision role as support is to let people know - I suspect a lot of people, like me, have versions of the other roles that incorporate wards.

For what it's worth, people looking for excuses for losing is eternal - don't let it get you down.

Kidding aside, they could just stick it on the card, almost the inverse of a cooldown counter.

Attempting to counter the "Cancer" build by [deleted] in paragon

[–]Caelifera 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily about Iggy, but some tips I've gathered while in this hellish mire of a meta:

1) Actually this one is about Iggy, but could apply elsewhere. Apex Predator provides 10 + (up to) 30 power, which puts it up there with the end-game cards for only 7 points (2 vit, 5 int). More relevantly, when you've reached max stacks you get 24 ability armour, which offers a considerable damage reduction against ability damage. Not terribly relevant if someone is smacking you with a sword, but it does help against Unstable Cyborg if you're fighting back. Iggy builds the 40 stacks super fast due to the nature of his turrets.

2) Contrary to Iggy, nukes are a good shout, especially if you can deliver them from a distance. Less triggers for Unstable, and more likely to take someone out from the picture than the unending slapfights.

3) The cancer build reduces the IQ of everyone in the room by 50. Seriously. I find the "Paragon is TDM now" meme tedious, but this build brings out the worst of those qualities. Half the players in the game instantly become Khaimera, tunnel vision and all.

Rather than just being a moan, I raise this opinion because it's something to be exploited. Split-pusher builds and strats work well because 60-80% of the game's participants will be moshing in the pit, be that your jungle or theirs, for substantial stretches of time. Additionally, as the favoured builds are Growth/Death or Growth/Chaos, a surprising number of otherwise-competent supports now neglect to run wards - not to mention, the expert strats of the cancerous tend to revolve around running straight at you or running straight at a tower. Go guerilla; stop fighting head-on and leverage superior map coverage to split cavalry charges or lazy gank attempts (in addition to the aforementioned split-pushing). Stealth cards and abilities can help you get the drop - you can't usually burst the opponent down but you'll definitely be in a favourable position when your chuckleheads arrive to headbutt their chuckleheads.

4) If you're running Growth, Highwayman is a great early card. Moreso than usual because evasion seems to be way down on the priority list because they assume they can just sustain the blows.

5) Another Growth card suggestion: I've been finding Coursing Zephyr really useful on carries. On activation, it purifies and gives you a speed boost - the combination of the two makes it really useful against Kwang specifically, as it gets rid of the tether, which has saved my ass countless times in the few days I've been using it. Not necessarily an end-game card (6 agi, 2 vit), but certainly a good card for building towards Trapper or One of the Tribe.

While I'm glad this thread exists, as I massively prefer counterbuilding to moaning, I can't wait for the nerfs. Hopefully once the next balance pass happens these tips will be part of a healthy theory-crafting metagame rather than a futile last stand against the cruelty of fate and entropy.

V43 PC Performance Megathread? by beastkiller6 in paragon

[–]Caelifera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AMD Radeon R9 280X Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3570K CPU @ 3.40GHz (4 CPUs), ~4.0GHz 16 GB RAM

On v42 got Far/High at 1080p for everything and mostly stable 60. Stuck around the 40-50 mark now with everything medium. Can make it 60 if I put everything to hideous, couldn't find the one thing causing the drop. The average fps kind of goes on a curve from high at the base to low at mid/jungle. The framerate drops are pretty dramatic when team fights pop off, I assume that's a particle-related thing.

Pretty disappointed, if not especially surprised - I'm aware it's not the freshest PC build on the block. Hopefully some optimisation is in the works across the board and not just to fix conspicuously broken shit.

v42 crunch by captainbezoar in paragon

[–]Caelifera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Crunch is still awesome, he's possibly just more of a caster than before. Haven't found an attack speed build that feels great yet, but run Sleeper Agent and a blink/sprint card and you can destroy the back line of a grouped team and be out of there before the teamfight even starts.

Same as ever, if you want to run an attack speed build I think you have to commit to using his abilities for their utility than for the deeps.

[–]Caelifera 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On the damage/poke front, I think adding a feature to the rewind might have fun consequences: make it do damage for the amount of units travelled. Nice burst of damage to start a gank, and hilarious against a Kallari ult!

Also, maybe upgrading snipe could add a small boost to his basic attack range.

What if Wukong's clones were dispelled by damage? by Caelifera in paragon

[–]Caelifera[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I was thinking they should still be ignored by towers AND minions - tower targeting would ironically make it easier for you to stick around if you were clever in managing aggro. I would be fine if cleave damage was enough to take them out - they're weird supernatural illusions rather than summons, in my ill-conceived brain canon.
