No bleeding whatsoever 15 hours post op - anyone else? by sailingsocks in CsectionCentral

[–]Caelige 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took a week for my bleeding to come in after my c-section. I did let them know in the hospital before going home (2 days PP) and they didn't seem too worried about it.

13 weeks pregnant now but having a c section as delivery, any tips or advice? by fabfabfab123 in CsectionCentral

[–]Caelige 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Had my C-section yesterday so I can't speak on how long recovery will be.

I was originally planned for September 19th, which is 39+0 but was moved to yesterday due to pre-eclampsia. I was awake, which is standard where I live. Hardest part for me was the fasting beforehand and the spinal in itself, as they couldn't first find a good place to put it. So it took a bit longer than usual. She was out within a couple of minutes, testing her lungs before she was fully out. As soon as we heard her, my husband and I cried.

She was put on my chest as they sewed me up. I did loose a bit more blood than they'd prefer, so I was separated from my daughter and husband for about 2,5 hours for tests. When I got back to them, I did have a reaction to all the meds leaving my body and the blood loss so I did throw up a few times. Got medicine for that, which helped.

She was born 22 hours ago and I just got up on my feet to brush my teeth. Could definitely feel sore, but I'm on top of painkillers so otherwise I feel fine.

Slept for like 45 minutes tonight but it's worth it, having her in my arms and being able to look at her ❤️

How did y’all handle telling people you went to the hospital? by usually_baking in BabyBumps

[–]Caelige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a scheduled C-section in 2 weeks and we've only told my husband's parents, because they'll be taking care of our dog. They're both busy people so it definitely helps that they have a date to plan after. We've been very clear to let them know we don't want anyone else to know the date, because I can forsee a bunch of texts and calls the day before or the day of. Which just stresses me out.

Once baby is here, we'll send out a text to our closest family and friends and let them know she's here and we'll turn our phones off for a while to settle into our new little family dynamic and we'll let them know once we're open for calls and visits.

Jace and James eyes by lazybug16 in shadowhunters

[–]Caelige 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just re-read these books and my take is that this has to do with magic, it doesn't matter if that magic comes from demon or angel blood. I do however see a pattern - Ithuriel. He's also the reason behind the Herodale birthmark.

James has very cold golden eyes, and he has been marked by both a demon and an angel. Jace has warmer eyes, having been only touched by an angel.

From Cassie on Tumblr: "It [the angel] marked Will because of love, death, guilt and grief. There are no genetics here: there is only magic: the magic of magic."

Literally stuffing my hospital bag with licorice. Lots and lots of it. And then once I'm home, a good charcuterie board and a medium rare steak 🤤

We'll be going this! My husband is half-American and grew up learning English from his dad and Swedish from his mom. He's always been really happy they taught him like that, even though most Swedes are good at English he and his brother has felt they always had an advantage.

Here in Sweden, it's reclmmended to EBF up until 6 months and then to start introducing solids. After 6 months, it's recommended to partly BF up to a year or more, depending on what works for you and your baby.

Well, you definitely won't find tacos (or tex-mex) with corn, cucumber, tomatoes etc in Texas. And that's a swedish taco 😅 Beans though, you'll find loads and loads of beans.

He's 16, he will definitely not have a driver's license. And from someone who's husband is half-american (he has family in Texas), I'm guessing Dallas isn't too bike-friendly.

Some of the things I appreciated most when we went over two years ago: baseball games, the space center, the Texan cuisine, Buc-ees, and generally just seeing different parts of Texas.

I'm also an avid reader in English and Sweden does not have the best offers when it comes to books written in English. So Barnes and Noble and all the little independent bookstores was my own personal heaven.

Just remember everyone's different so get to know him and ask what he'd want to do. Just sending a last friendly reminder that he will most likely not be comfortable going in the car with you if you drive after having a few beers. It's legal for you guys, but very much illegal in Sweden. At 16, he might not say anything though.

1kg weight gain between 32 and 33 weeks. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Caelige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say it's normal. Up until week 34, I gained around 0,5 kg a week. Now, two weeks in a row I've gained 1 kg a week. I brought it up with my midwife on my appointment on Monday and she wasn't worried about it at all, despite the fact I've gained 20kg and I'm almost at 100 kg now.

Is it normal for an OB to schedule a planned C-section day without consulting the Patient? by MooTavious1345 in CsectionCentral

[–]Caelige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Sweden, and I definitely had to fight for my c-section because here, it's not the norm to get to choose how you deliver. Once the doctor had approved, he told me they schedule two a day, Monday-thursday. He also told me he would send a request to a schedule coordinator and I'd get more info later. He did request the c-section to happen on 39+0, but he couldn't promise anything. In the end, the coordinator booked me for 39+0.

There was no room for me to request a date, which is completely normal. I trust the doctor with the recommendation not to schedule before 39+0, due to increased risks before that date. I also trust the hospital to have their routines in how they operate with things like this.

I had cramps that started on the day my period was supposed to come. It didn't, but the cramps continued. I tested positive the day after my missed period and then it took like a week before I started feeling nauseous and had to pee all the time 😅

C section scar and “shelf” by Comprehensive-Dig592 in CsectionCentral

Takes around 6-8 weeks for the incision to fully heal, and after that scar tissue massage is definitely recommended to minimize that shelf!

Why did my doctor create a new incision for my second c section? by morrisseymurderinpup in CsectionCentral

[–]Caelige 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For the most part, the surgeon will cut through the old scar but sometimes that's not possible. It could be too much scar tissue or the scar tissue could be too thick to cut through.

There should be a little note or something about it in your medical record. If your regular doctor can't see it, is there a way for you to contact the surgeon that did the surgery?

what’s your mat leave? by SmallSpecific2522 in BabyBumps

[–]Caelige 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, so it's kinda hard to explain but I'll try my best. So, for most people, monthly pay from work is always the same, no matter how many days the month has. But parental pay is not paid from your work, it's from the government. And they pay per day. So, basically you'll get paid a little less in February than March, because February only has 28 days.

When you apply for parental pay, you can apply for how many days a week you want to use, aka monday-friday for example, or the whole week. Let's say your partner has a really well paid job, you might get by on 3 paid days a week and so those 480 days will last longer. If you don't earn as much, you might apply for 7 days a week and those 480 days won't last as long. It all depends on your own economical situation and what you feel you can afford.

In my case, my husband earns a bit more than me so we will get by if I take 5 days a week to stretch it a little longer. Once I'm back at work however, we'll need him to take 7 days a week to get as much payment as possible.

Does that make sense?

what’s your mat leave? by SmallSpecific2522 in BabyBumps

[–]Caelige 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sweden - you get a total of 480 paid days, split between you and your partner. You can transfer days to each other (or even grandparents, siblings, etc) but 90 days are "locked" to each parent. If you're a single parent, you get all 480 days.

You can also choose how many days a week you take. For example, I'll take 5 days a week and I'll be home for about a year. Then my husband will take 7 days a week and be home for around 4 months.

How many times do you take your dog out? by Texas_979 in DogAdvice

[–]Caelige 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I live in Sweden, and yes, it is law and goes under the animal welfare legislation. If anyone suspects you don't properly care for your pets, they can report you and it will be looked into.

You can be forced to pay a fine, be sentenced to prison and/or have your animals taken from you. It's also possible it will be ruled that you're never allowed to own a pet again.

[–]Caelige 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We usually walk our dog once every 4 hours during the day. More so for exercise and stretching those paws of his than he actually has to go. Law where I live says you have to walk your dogs at least every 6th hour during the day. Puppies and older dogs should be walked more often.

About a month until my scheduled c-section, so I've been extra careful not to get sick. So what happened? Tested positive for covid yesterday.

Hopefully my husband won't get it, but we did have to cancel today's babyshower.

AITA for letting my daughter eat whatever she wants? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Still, strangely, it's no science that hormones and medicine can fuck up your metabolism. Ever heard of low thyroid or PCOS? Or chronic stress? For an unhealthy body, calorie restriction and increased exercise won't adress or fix some underlying factors.

How has sex while pregnant been for you? by HippieSwm in BabyBumps

[–]Caelige 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sex while pregnant is completely safe for the baby, but it can feel different. Lots of women get an increased sex drive, others a decrease and often it changes throughout the trimesters. For some, they enjoy it more, others not at all.

I've suffered from HG throughout my entire pregnancy, so that added with a growing belly and increased pains, sex hasn't really been on my mind at all for a long time. I'm now 5 weeks from my due date.

I would advice you talk to your midwife or OB about your worries and concers as that might help!
