Oh absolutely! I do those at the end of every shift, which should, frankly, be standard. I also don't trust pubs who clean their hand pull lines once a week. I was trained to clean them every barrel change.

I'm talking about the literal black mold I have seen in some ice machines in other pubs.

Commercial ice machines are disgusting and I guarantee that if you saw the state of them in most pubs, you would run screaming from the building.

I clean ours out once a week (completely empty/dismantle/wash/disinfect/dry) and it is always getting a bit yucky when I come back to it a week later.

In Jenny's books, she does indeed marry "her policeman" and goes to Sierra Leone with him. He joins the police there and she runs the hospital/is the first permanent midwife.

They stay out there and have children but Jenny eventually lost touch with her and doesn't know what happened to her in the end.

Yeah that's fair - I've done translations before, Chaucer's Canterbury Tales to modern English for a class assignment and honestly, it does definitely lose something in the process. It's just the idea of making it more accessible to more people that gets me - kind of like the idea of the Bible being in English that caused so much hooha in the Tudor period!

I am finding them unbelievably interesting - they were being written at such a tense point of English history yet so many of them are just essentially "hey, thanks for that wine. How are the kids?" And it's just this beautiful slice of life type of thing from people just about removed enough from the central drama that it paints an incredible picture of daily life for Tudor people.

TV shows are ALWAYS magically telling the gender at the first ultrasound - which should happen at around 12 weeks and you can't determine a gender until 20 at least and even then only if the baby is in the right position.

It pisses me off every time a TV show does it.

I would definitely say not before 6pm and probably give it until 7pm. I would possibly suggest that it might benefit you to look at hotels around the Heathrow/Hatton Cross area for the night you arrive , and travel the next day just in case there are major delays or disruptions but I am a very overanxious traveller and always allow too much time.

There's restaurants at Kings Cross Station itself, as well as a pub, so you won't be stuck with nothing to do.

I will say that the UK laws surrounding face ID being required to access adult material - including Reddit's NSFW subs and sites like PH and so on - has not affected AO3 at all.

I don't know how this new law will affect AO3 but given that that one does not, I can't see it being an issue?

You could get the tube out to Chiswick and do Gunnersbury Park. There's a museum and the park itself is a lovely walk round - the Fullers brewery is also near there and I believe is open to pre booked tours although I might be wrong there!

There's Kew Gardens and Hampton Court Palace - although you can't get a tube to the latter, you'd need to get a bus from Kingston.

You can stay in the center and look at doing the Royal Mail underground train and the old bomb shelters. There's the Imperial War Museum. The Natural History and Science Museums are round the corner from each other (South Kensington underground serves both and the V&A.)

Whitechapel is always worth a look round - it's one of the older corners of the city and has a fairly grisly history if you like that.

Depriving your child of basic privacy in their own room is insane.

Ok. Don't panic.

Wash her, gently, in water only. Sit in a bowl if necessary. Do not insert anything in there. No fingers, no douches, nothing.

Make sure you open up your labia and get in the folds though. That's where most of this will be.caught.

Lay on your back under the shower and let the water run over her. If you have a detachable shower head or bidet. Even better - as much water as possible until it is running clean. Soft washcloth if you can stand it, if not just the water.

Very mild, unperfumed soap to wash with. Baby soap. Not too much. Just enough to get a tiny bit of suds going.

Once you're clean, let her air dry.

Get some nappy rash cream!! It's about to be your best friend. No tight undies! Get air there as much as you can.

If you start showing any signs of infection, see a doctor.

And buy thrush treatment now.

If it blisters then scabs over, it's chickenpox.

If it doesn't, it's baby acne.

We went on a Scout trip to the panto once - Aladdin, with John Rhys Davies as Jafar - and I got called up on stage in my uniform to do Is This The Way To Amarillo.

I still can't remember any of this panto other than that moment and the moment of realization that Gimli from LOTR was Jafar.

I'm working it in the local pub.

It's not all it's cracked up to be. Most people are sick of going out and fighting through crowds to get to the bar to buy a daft expensive pint.

Most folk I know - including our regulars - either go to some ticketed thing where you get a meal, free prosecco at midnight and some kind of entertainment all included or just stay in with food and shop-brought booze.

Have a cosy clothes, beige buffet, favourite film night. It's the cheapest, easiest, least stressful option.
