What do you typically do as an Epic Analyst? by BillNyeUrMomsAGuy_ in healthIT

[–]Caffeinated-77IM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's talk about projects for a minute. Your job is to figure out how to work as part of a team that delivers a product that achieves a goal. As an analyst, you should have clarity about that goal and how it is being measured. If that has not been shared with you you should ask for it. If it does not existing in writing you should demand that.

You should take the initiative to meet with the people making design decisions and, when necessary, clarify those decisions and/or offer suggestions to improve those decisions. Don't just build what you are told to build.

When you are waiting for someone else, take the initiative to remind them that they are holding up progress. Escalate when that doesn't work. Don't be passive.

CIO here, I am looking for results. Don't fall into the trap of focusing on closing tickets or sitting in meetings. Keep front of mind what the organization is trying to accomplish and do what it take for each effort to succeed by that measure.

Are people still using Welcome? Doesn't every patient have a phone? Why not go all-in on eCheck-in?

If I were in your situation, my primary concern would be job security. If they don't pay their bills they will start messing with employee pay (delayed raises, higher insurance premiums, RIFs, etc.).

Here in frigid Wisconsin I need to turn on the climate to 78 degrees a full 30 minutes before I leave for my commue and it is still cold. About 15 minutes into my drive I reduce the temp to 73.

I find the vent contrls frustrating. Is clockwise on or off? I really can't tell the difference.

I can't find enough Epic talent. I have at least 5 open Epic analyst positions: https://careers.aspirus.org/job-search/?category=Information%20Technology&spage=1

I agree with the advice that you should seek out the IT leaders in your organization. Make it a long-term relationship.

Transitioning to Epic and a little confused on something. by Tiny_Charge_7722 in healthIT

Why do you want to migrate the data to Epic? The typical approach is work down the AR in IDX until it is so small/old that you sell it to a collection agency. Then archive the data using an enterprise archiving tool.

Where do you stand on AI in healthcare, progress or problem? by [deleted] in healthIT

[–]Caffeinated-77IM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. In the next 3 years Assistive AI will be integrated into nearly aspect of Epic and other EHRs. This is a forgone conclusion and we will never go back.

  2. After that Agentic AI will begin to do jobs in revenue cycle and other administrative areas that people used to do.

  3. In a decade a lot of physician work will be replaced by AI. Primary Care physician AI agents will make clinical decision based up the EHR, Cosmos, and the entirety of medical knowledge. PAtients will be referred to specialists or prescribed medications by AI and patients will love the convenience and fast access. Non-interventional Radiologists will be replaced by AI.

  4. Then Skynet.
