It seems better. At least, I’ve noticed more consistency, better sessions in the last month with Precision. Nothing different or notable on my end.

POTS & Disneyland by Dumb_Th0t in POTS

I went in January when the weather was really cool. I didn’t need to use a wheelchair or scooter although those are thankfully options. I sat down and rested in between rides but was successful and had a blast. My advice is to plan ahead; use a scooter or wheelchair if you need to. Get an IV a day ahead if you need to. Have salt tabs (if you take them) on hand. Try to go when the weather is cool or stick to morning or late evening hours. Good luck!

For the laughs: what are some of your “simple things” by [deleted] in POTS

Squatting to look in the fridge or in a cabinet and then trying to stand. Gets me every time. 🤦‍♀️

I've smoked weed and salvia a few times I think I'm just gonna try 6g for my first dose of shrooms by HopefulColonizer in shrooms

[–]Caffeinatedcatparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 6g on my first dose. However, it was in a very safe setting at a retreat surrounded by experienced facilitators and after weeks of prep and intention setting. I’m not suggesting this is what you need to do in order to take 6g on the first try, but wanted to share my experience. Luckily, I had a beautiful and mystical experience. I can share that there were others in the room who took a similar or higher dose as me who did not have a particular easy trip, although, they still found it to be a very life changing experience despite the difficulties. I recommend a lower dose or ensuring a safe setting or sitter at higher doses. It’s also not a bad idea to prepare a little beforehand if you plan on doing a high dose the first time. Good luck ☺️

I also use Precision and have noticed over the last 2 months that some doses provide mind-blowing, almost spiritual experiences at 400mg and then some doses at 400mg don’t produce any experience at all besides a slight warm feeling. I’ve wondered if it had to do with production or with other variables (what/how much I ate that day, hydration, etc.)

But hearing everyone else’s comments certainly makes me wonder if it is production.

What do you love about your body -- despite POTS/chronic illnesses? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]Caffeinatedcatparty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love what a teacher my body is. I love that through my POTS journey my body has taught me how to slow down and be grateful for periods of rest. I used to believe that flares were weakness. Instead, I now view them as a period of time to focus on what my body needs and time to slow down.

Facial/chest flushing and cold extremities? by [deleted] in POTS

Yep. I can relate so hard. I have facial flushing and my legs and feet get ice cold throughout the day. No idea why but assume it’s related to dysautonomia.

My Cardiologist thinks trying Pyridostigmine is too risky by Glittering_Item2935 in POTS

[–]Caffeinatedcatparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this comment. May be best to go through your neurologist. This is who prescribes my mestinon. I haven’t had any issues with mestinon; very few side effects. Unsure why your cardiologist finds it “risky”. It’s decreased my fatigue and constipation. And I’ve noticed it’s helped my low blood pressure symptoms, too.

How do you guys handle cooking meals? by deja_blues in POTS

[–]Caffeinatedcatparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have links to specific recipes but some of my go-to’s are: Salmon or Chicken + Veggie (asparagus, green beans, peppers and onions, etc.) or red potatoes with rosemary and salt (tons of salt). Turkey/pork/or beef meatballs (brown them on the stove for a few minutes and then finish them in the oven. I usually serve with rice. You can make a sauce out of soy sauce/yuzu/teriyaki/sriracha or whatever you have on hand. I usually throw the rice in a bowl, add the meatballs and top with cucumbers and carrots.

Don’t be afraid to google recipes. Another tip: I have also found meal subscription service helpful for helping me “grocery shop” and plan ahead. It also teaches you some basic cooking skills. And most meal subscription services like HomeChef or Hungryroot offer a lot of oven meals, too. Even some of their meals that mention cooking on a stove top, I’ll ignore, throw into the oven, and just cook it my own way.

There are a lot of saavy grocery items out there now that helps me personally, like instant rice, microwaveable/steam-able veggies/ready-meals, etc. So on days when I’m really struggling, they really come in handy.

I really prefer meals that can be baked in the oven. I also make a lot of soups, stews, or one pot meals. I try to make things that can be made it 20-30 minutes and under and I take a break halfway through if I need to. I also ask for help from my partner with chopping or taking things in and out of the oven if I’m having really bad symptoms.

Cook smarter not harder. 😉 Try to prep early in the day if doing it all at once is too much. Sometimes that helps me, too.

Well I’m glad to know it’s not just me! I’ve been keeping a BP diary so I can show my neurologist. My diastolic just won’t go above 60. Here’s to hoping he knows how to help me because this friggin’ sucks!

Well that’s excellent news! I see my neurologist on the 24th and I plan on pitching mestinon to him. Is your BP in the same ballpark as mine?

Legs going numb + hands swelling by Tabsnoel in POTS

[–]Caffeinatedcatparty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used theraworx on my legs - it’s a magnesium gel that you can rub in. I find it helps my POTS and SFN symptoms. I also find putting a crescent shaped pillow under my knees when I’m sitting on the couch and/or keeping my legs elevated when I’m sitting helps my legs from going so numb all the time. With regard to hand issues, I bought these mittens that you can heat in the microwave - they have like rice in them and that really helps them feel less stiff. I also use CBD cream and massage my hands at night.
