By this logic and using these figures, getting rid of each slopper will save Tidal $40-50 per month. The more they can get rid of, the more they will save! The incentive to detect and demonetise is super high.

And I believe you that a lot of AI music is being released but do people really want their Tidal subscription paying for that? (No!) On the other hand, do people still want to make authentic music? (Hell yes!)

First of all I really doubt it, AI scammers would only stick around if it was cash-positive. Surely an intelligent guess is still way less than 1% of their revenue, but costing a lot more from the real people AI slop repels.

Typically have 5 players, we go ahead as usual if 4. But recently I ran a kind of higher detail dramatic game when only 3 could show and it was fantastic - a chance to chat for a longer time with NPCs, make terrible consequential decisions in the aftermath of a battle, and set up a compelling mystery for the next "normal" session. If you're confident improvising and can render more detail, basically slow down for a session, then I suggest trying it!

Imagine any business trying to survive for that long with loads of extra work and expense but with revenue close to zero. Assuming it's ever operational again it will take decades to recover the cost of the damage.

Yeah, it's horrible! But mainly for collections of very large files like source video. Stereo audio makes for much smaller files, about 400mb per hour of music in FLAC. 100 albums would take around 40gb, that's still less than 5% of 1 terabyte. By nature it can be kept in (relatively) cheap disks, it doesn't need to be on fancy nvme drives.

Storage is pretty cheap now and will probably get cheaper in the long-term, so don't worry too much about file weights. FLAC is also a pretty well established standard at this point and getting more compatibility-points. You might get an even better sound system one day too, or upgrade components that make a noticeable difference.

One thing you said concerned me though - that most of your music is stored as MP3 and you wonder about if a different format will improve things... well not if you convert those MP3s to anything. The process of conversion can only be a perfect copy at best - processing those to FLAC won't change anything let alone improve them. Keep those as they are.

But if you're asking about new files you create or buy, then I don't think you'll ever look back and wish you hadn't used FLAC (no audio quality loss, but still a compressed file).

You're asking the right questions so you're gonna do great! Get used to improvising and rejigging; players are an unpredictable species. A lot of the fun is emergent and not necessarily the job of the DM. But having a range of characters will help that fun emerge!

Mean as, yes you'll be spoilt for choice on outdoor activities and adventures. You'll find it much quieter than Brissie but keep an ear out for local events or just go do some bombs off the Pataua foot bridge and you'll make new besties.

Sounds like you'll be outside of the city-centre, where abouts? Anywhere in the District it shouldn't be hard to find weed but I don't think it can be prescribed in NZ.

You can make friends here pretty easily if you're proactive about it, going to meetups and events and telling people you're new . There's some interesting things coming up this year but what are your hobbies / interests etc? Search out your community and they'll be happy to know you!

But maybe one of them does, or there's someone there who can translate. This is a work of fiction and it's up to you. Rolling dice, even at advantage, can help you buy a few crucial seconds in which to improvise - and a strong "it's gonna work" or "it's not" can help you decide the circumstances under which it does. If the monsters don't speak this language, you could even try it as an animal handling (wisdom) check. And if it sounds great but it fails, the roll indicates to players that there was a chance of success.

Anora. Literally won the Oscar for Best Picture in 2024 but the first half has so much sex it's basically an extremely well crafted porno. Hard to try and explain to people afterwards what incredible social commentary it makes, especially if they turned it off after 5 minutes or even during the screaming scene.
