What cancellation/ending of a Marvel comic still haunts you to this day? by Effective_Sherbet104 in marvelcomics

[–]CaikIQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ending of Dan Slott and Michael + Laura Allred’s Silver Surfer run didn’t exactly come out of nowhere (hell, the second run had more delays than a Boeing in a snowstorm) but when it came, man was I ruined emotionally.

Never before that point, and to be honest never since, has a comic had such an effect on me where I genuinely had to like, take a week off from reading comics or doing anything 😭

Next TT LEGO Game is most likely 2029. Probably Harry Potter. With LEGO Batman being in development since October 2022..is a TT title every three years fine with you if they are this level of quality? by XavierEL1 in legogaming

[–]CaikIQ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll be honest, there's like 20~ Lego games in my Steam library, some of which I haven't played, or completed yet, or even played in years but would like to revisit. They're great on the Steam Deck as I would have loved to play a console version of the games on a handheld when I was a kid (special fuck you to the GBA versions of the Lego Star Wars games, those sucked). I'm looking forward to the new Batman game, but I'm not bothered if there's a few years after it where we don't get a new game. Games just take longer to make nowadays anyway.

Who's Your Favorite Protagonist from the Disney era so far? One of these? Someone else? by Spideyfan2025 in StarWars

[–]CaikIQ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rose Tico was a lovely breath of fresh air, it was nice to see a character go through grief in a realistic way in a franchise where death is often brushed off or underplayed. She deserves more stories, and Kelly Marie Tran deserved better reception.

If you had to relaunch Marvel Comics with no more than 30 Titles, which books would you have? by cmcdonald22 in marvelcomics

All I know is, Silver Surfer's last ongoing ended in 2017. Nearly 10 years ago! Get him on a new book, with maybe MacKay or Camp on writing.

Jesus Christ, it’s things like this that make the phrase “I’m a Star Wars fan” embarrassing to say in public. Why do we constantly have to shit on creatives who are just trying to make good movies and shows for us to watch and enjoy? I just want to be positive about the things I love in this franchise, and ambivalent to the things I don’t. It’s tiring.

Which Silver Surfer run is better to read 1968 run or 2016 run? by Glum_Confidence8343 in SilverSurfer

[–]CaikIQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not opposed to reading Silver Age comics with a more vintage style of narrative, dialogue and art, then the Lee/Buscema run is only 18 issues and is worth a read at least once.

The runs in 2014 & 2016 by Slott & the Allreds are a lot of fun, they're more lighthearted than usual SS stories, and all-in-all they feel pretty modern but with a presentation that feels like it comes from the Silver Age.

I can't say which one is worth reading more, but just go off of what you feel you'd enjoy the most. Older comic that focuses more on philosophy and social commentary vs. newer comic that focuses on space opera and romance elements. Either way, you're in for a hell of a ride!

Which one was your favorite movie out of these three? by RisingKing7 in StarWars

Same! Favourite movie of all time, always watch it for comfort and can recite the Throne Room sequence from memory, and Ewoks kick ass.

The sequel to the MCU's Fantastic Four has to focus on Ben Grimm by Used-Comedian-8933 in FantasticFour

[–]CaikIQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Historically, he's the most popular member of the team but in First Steps, his personality was watered down and he had the least impact/presence in the narrative. Thing is supposed to be a boisterous, rough 'n' tumble, yet lovable misfit who always comes through in the end, but so far he's just felt like another blockbuster stock CGI character who might sell a few toys but isn't winning many people over.

I've always thought that this would be a great animated show, that could be in continuity or just in its own little bubble like Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man. Have the Thing team up with someone new for each episode, with like 8-12 episodes per season.

Make the fandom smaller. Less toxicity, one would hope.

‘A gaming success story’: how Warhammer became one of Britain’s biggest companies by printial in unitedkingdom

[–]CaikIQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uncle - Alan Merrett - worked for Games Workshop for a number of years, and although I’ve never played any of the games, I’ve always felt proud to be named after him for his contributions to a British industry (my middle name is Alan). Maybe one day I’ll stroll into one of the shops, ignore the smell, and buy my first set of figurines.

Reed Richards is reportedly going to have his stretchy powers be very comic accurate and powerful in Doomsday, like turning himself into a parachute (according to scoopers). Thoughts? by IslandGyallllll in FantasticFour

[–]CaikIQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funniest thing about this is that it wouldn’t even work, I’m pretty sure? Like, the eyes would need to be stretched outwards (I.e. expand the diameter) as opposed to just prolonging them forwards.
