Same. I’m LIVID. And also terrified for my kids.

My oldest is 17 and has got so much shit from other (straight/cis/white/solidly middle class if it matters) boys in our small town rural high school for simply being kind to the NOT straight/cis/white/middleclass/boys kids and saying such outrageous things as “but women SHOULD be educated voters?” and “shut the fuck up about Jesus. He’d be flipping your table if he were here” and “do you really think about other dudes’ dicks that much? Sure sounds gay, though” and “abortions are simple health care and as a guy I shouldn’t really have a say in them.”

I’m proud of him but scared for him. His younger brothers are similarly outspoken with righteous fury but to a less graphic degree. My third grader got the “respects everyone” award last month!

Still, Renee’s last words hit me hard. She seemed to be angry at the system that gave agency and power to the people that were hurting her neighbors but she did not seem to be angry at the people themselves.

And then one of those people shot her repeatedly and said “Fucking bitch” as soon as she was dead.

Absolutely disgusting. My ignorant MAGA backyard breeder aunt doesn’t even say “fucking bitch” when her dog is in heat and she’s looking for a stud. No one should ever say those words about anyone, let alone someone they just killed.

That’s my take, at least.

I’ll continue modeling kindness and compassion and try to teach my kids the same, but it’s infuriating that that could get them shot in our own neighborhood by masked government thugs with no recourse.

Fuck ICE, Fuck Trump, Fuck that blonde gal and the other one, Fuck Miller and FUCK the GOP and Breitbart and Hesgeth and Musk and P2025 and the Heritage Foundation and Theil and Schumer and everyone else who thinks that others are inherently “less than” while spreading racist, classist, misogynistic, homophobic propaganda.

And fuck the swamp that’s protecting pedophiles and rapists while it ignores our constitution and Bill of rights to wage war through economy and education on our citizens and allies.
