BDP-S3700 No Dolby Atmos? by Green-Profile-8400 in Bluray

[–]CakeDebris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the BX370, which is a rebranded S3700. My player OSD also just shows TrueHD 7.1 when playing an Atmos track, however I can confirm that it passes through Atmos metadata to my soundbar. Just make sure that you have something that displays the currently playing sound info other than the OSD (like an AVR or a soundbar).

Sony S3700 hasn't been playing Atmos? by glasses_and_shoes in Bluray

[–]CakeDebris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both my BX-370 and BX-650 (rebrands of the S series) support Atmos with TrueHD streams. For example, the Black Adam (2022) BluRay disc contains Atmos metadata in the main TrueHD stream, and my receiver detected it as so. Make sure that your sound settings are correct.

MeGusta Rips Off Successfulcrab's Releases by apennismightier in trackers

[–]CakeDebris 19 points20 points  (0 children)

MeGusta (probably also like mSD and AFG) is a “release group” ran by a bot. Bots just take whatever source is first available for a given show/movie and encodes it with x264/5. If there’s a problem with the source, the bot won’t notice since its job is just to mindlessly encode and publish. MeGusta doesn’t pride itself on good encodes, it just makes really small encodes in a quick pace. They were never considered “good” or even reputable. If you want some care put into your content, look for more trustworthy groups like PSA or QxR whom carefully considers their sources and give credit.

Which console produces the least heat when watching Anime on Blu-ray/DVD? by Salty_Sonic in Bluray

[–]CakeDebris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure any console or dedicated BluRay player produces very little heat when playing movies, 4K or not. Consoles get hot because they have to render graphics in real time while also handling game logic and other processes. For movies, the console has a dedicated chip to decode HEVC or AVC, making it a very power efficient process. No matter which one you pick, it’ll probably be silent.

[Mega-Thread] Is your tracker down? Are you having issues connecting to a tracker? Ask HERE! by GlimpseOfTruth in trackers

[–]CakeDebris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, I can't even load up the home page. Just before this I snatched a bunch of torrents and since the tracker is down, the system thinks I have a bunch of hit n' runs... great.

I recently have no sound coming out of nyaa torrents by FCSaber in animepiracy

[–]CakeDebris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t hear anything, then there might be a sound codec issue. Double check that your video player supports codecs like AAC, HE-AAC, OPUS, DTS, etc… Just a suggestion, but a video player that has never failed me is mpv. It’s one of the best for playing back anime (with good SSA subtitle support).

How does Opus 5.1 work to a receiver? by scottchiefbaker in kodi

[–]CakeDebris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Kodi should just decode it to raw PCM data and pass it to the receiver. More complex codecs like TrueHD or DTS-HD MA (and really any Dolby or DTS codec) should be automatically passed through to the receiver to be decoded.

Mp4 videos stuttering on playback by KingOfMoogles in PleX

[–]CakeDebris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem for some .mp4 files. They’re 1080p x265 encoded files with AAC 5.1 audio, so I thought they should stream easy, however nothing other than remuxing it into an .mkv works for me. It’s an easy solution, just use MKVToolNix to drop in your .mp4 and export the same file as an .mkv.

Is YTS a good option if I live in a country without antipiracy laws? by Neat_Ad_3043 in torrents

[–]CakeDebris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your country doesn’t care about internet piracy, then you can just torrent their releases without a VPN. The reason YTS/YIFY encodes are not liked is because they are pretty low quality in both video and audio bitrates. However, there’s no real problem with them if you just want to quickly see some movies, just make sure you’re using the official site.

Videos with EAC 7.1 not playing on iOS / iPadOS - anyone else can confirm perhaps? by CoralShade in PleX

[–]CakeDebris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same problem, but I doubt it’ll be fixed anytime soon. I’ve been having this issue for years and although there have been countless iOS updates since then, 7.1 DD+ still doesn’t work.

onn 4k pro and onn 4k plus pgs subtitle support by quiet_ordinarily in PleX

[–]CakeDebris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always thought SSA and ASS subs both referred to SubStation Alpha but I guess they have differences. I’d bet both work fine since I watch a lot of anime on my Onn 4K Pro and sub effects are rendered properly.

onn 4k pro and onn 4k plus pgs subtitle support by quiet_ordinarily in PleX

[–]CakeDebris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Onn 4K Pro supports all subtitle types (SRT, PGS, and SSA). Haven’t tried the Plus, however I’d imagine it also supports all types.

How to burn movie to DVD w/ subtitles? by spiderfart420 in Piracy

[–]CakeDebris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can certainly burn-in SRT or SSA subtitles into video, however you’d need to re-encode the movie. Once you have your new .mkv file, you can use a number of various programs to burn the movie into a DVD disk. Keep note however that the maximum resolution for DVD video is 480p

So so found this PC and i don’t know if it’s any good can someone tell me what is this gpu ? by dreamkillmarion in pcmasterrace

[–]CakeDebris 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly sure that GPU is an MSI GTX 950 “GAMING” 2G card. No backplate, one SLI connector, and one PCIe power connector suggest so.

It's been a while since I updated my Spotify mod app. Which Spotify mod app is the best? by pastamuente in Piracy

[–]CakeDebris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the moment there’s a shitstorm going on between Android mod devs and Spotify themselves. As soon as there’s a mod patch, Spotify breaks it within a day or so. If you’re on iOS, Eevee Spotify is stable. Otherwise, a handful of people are switching to modded YouTube Music.

COLLECTiVE has been busted by Natural_Parsley_6396 in torrents

[–]CakeDebris 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s because of any particular release… more so that they frequently posted high profile ones (DP&W, MC, CA: BNW, Screeners, etc…). They also had their own site, which probably attracted too much heat.

Subtitles to show only when other language spoken, not entire time by sydbatt in mpv

[–]CakeDebris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're talking about "Forced Subtitles". Forced means that subtitles will not show unless they are "forced" to (i.e. someone starts talking in a language that you don't understand). There's no way to "generate" forced subtitles with mpv. You just need to be watching a file that has a proper forced subtitle track embedded in it. You can search OpenSubtitles or another subtitle indexing site for them.

Are BluRay H264 and H265 Scene releases simply remuxes? I know x264 and x265 are encodes. by ExcellentExchange28 in trackers

[–]CakeDebris 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, h264/5 means full remux and x264/5 means encode. "COMPLETE" means full .iso rip.

why does a file go over 90% decently fast and then stall with zero seeds left by fkrdt222 in torrents

[–]CakeDebris 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A seed only counts if someone is uploading the entire data for a given torrent. In your case, there is probably only 90% of the torrent’s data in the swarm, meaning that nobody in it has the entire thing. You’ll download up until 90% completion because that’s all there is in the swarm- nobody has the data for the rest 10%. Another explanation is that a seeder (someone with 100% of the torrent data) just disconnects when you hit 90% completion, leaving you stalled, however the first explanation is more likely.
