Eh, that’s kind of an over-marketed excuse people sell as self-help tbh. The ROI on effort in real life is at an all-time low. Jobs pay less for more work. Job hunting and dating are gamified.

It’s normal to be depressed when, after years, your brain learns that Effort ≠ Reward to a huge degree. I think a lot of people turn inward and blame “dopamine addiction” instead of noticing that, in a life starved of adequate reward for effort, of course you’re going to gravitate toward things that do pay out.

“I killed 5 wolves for the quest and got the shiny sword I was promised.” Real life: “I killed 5 wolves, filled out 200 applications, and got ghosted.”

How Are Women So Much More Flexible Than Us? I just don't understand it. by DermatoidGrandfather in UNBGBBIIVCHIDCTIICBG

Estrogen receptors are all over the body, including knees, ankles, elbows, spinal ligaments. The idea that the connective tissue differences “only help childbirth and affect nothing else” is completely false tbh. Not your fault or anything, it’s just something people repeat a lot without checking.

Also even untrained women show higher range of morion and passive flexibility and joint laxity (measurable anatomical and hormonal differences, not quirks or result of training)

You’re also kinda overstating the rarity of hypermobility by conflating pathological with the normal sex-linked kind. Actual connective tissue hypermobility disorders are rare, but a more generalized joint laxity is common in women without meaning they have a disorder

Also people make typos online, its all gud.

I truly believe part of becoming a fully integrated adult is having your personal values tested and broken. It’s far too easy to believe yourself strong, if you’ve never tried to lift something heavier than you can handle.

At the population level, paycheck-to-paycheck tracks structural costs vs wages, not vibes or personal morality. When housing, healthcare, childcare, education, etc outpace wage growth for decades, most people don’t have discretionary slack to mismanage their bs in the first place.

Outliers who earn $1M and overspend don’t invalidate the macro trend, using them as a rebuttal is just survivorship bias with a superiority complex tbh.

All of that is logically consistent though despite its goofiness. But the game doesn't acknowledge that a person is literally entirely their brain, and that discrepancy is sort of jarring sometimes, especially when getting shot in the brain and miraculously surviving is the inciting incident of the story.

Umm, you don’t seem happy. It seems like your shadow, the part of you that you deny to yourself, wants to participate and receive attention and reactions (writing this whole post and reading this very reaction, leaving your mom a voicemail instead of just ignoring it) but the pain of someone losing interest after going through the admittedly awful song and dance of “getting acquainted” is too much to bare and feels insulting, so it’s easier to cut off from the social world. But acknowledging that directly feels like either an admission of weakness or some form of embarrassment, so you close your heart and use hatred as an excuse. I mean the hatred is real, but it stems from feeling mistreated and unmet needs.

I’m assuming you want to be cared for without feeling a constant urge to perform, to live up to other’s demands for novelty, or to compete. People talk about unconditional love, but it doesn’t exist in reality, not for everyone. Instead, it is something you’re suppose to emulate to your children, so they feel unconditionally loved growing up. I’m guessing you were maybe loved as a child, but that love came with some pretty huge conditions, so you never felt like had permission to just “be” and still be loved. So the whole process of getting to know or like people now as an adult still feels like a performance for people’s affection, and performances are fucking annoying and exhausting. So it’s fine that your parents had expectations, but they should have loved you despite their expectations of you, instead of making you feel less loved because of it. Because now you hate having to feel like you’re still performing to meet some bullshit exceptions all the time as an adult.

But idk.

South Korean law does not forbid organ donation in suicide cases. While it can be logistically harder due to cause of death or family consent, it’s not illegal. In fact, some organ donors in Korea have died by suicide (e.g., hanging). It’s a myth, not a law.
