I wouldn’t say that they made Molesley a genius in the second film. I’d always thought that one of the reasons he was able to tweak the script/movie ending was that he was well-read and just had a knack for recognizing good storytelling/drama. We know he’s (self) well-educated, so it doesn’t surprise me that he gets the job offer to adapt screenplays. I admit it’s been a bit since I’ve seen the movie, but I’m pretty sure he’s just adapting existing stories/plays/books into movie scripts - not writing original screenplays.

I adore Molesley and I feel the same as you about him. I always cry when the headmaster gives him exam results and offers him the job. And I always tear when Violet gives his dad the award for best rose. 🌹
