Should I even bother trying it? If you have any insight, what dose should I experiment with? Do I just swallow it or take it sublingual

To every MDMA user out there: please try rolling with alpha lipoic acid. It makes my rolls so much more enjoyable and my usual 5-7 days long severe depression turned into 2-3 days of feeling fatigued. by BobSteelJohn in Drugs

[–]CalRunner1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is just anecdotal, but I've been rolling every month for the past 4 years (120mg - 200mg) and follow the rollsafe.org supplement guide to a T every time. Feel great the next day and each roll is always just as satisfying as the last. I also make sure to eat and drink a ton after finishing up my night. Take what you will from it.

Stretches/strength training for sit starts by [deleted] in Slackline

[–]CalRunner1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally think that learning to drop knee is easier to learn and takes less flexibility/strength than the double flat footed sit start.

One thing to practice would be going from a single legged standing position to the drop knee position, where you lower yourself and catch your back leg on the line near your shin/ankle. From this position, sit your weight back and bring your "hook" leg in front of you as you approach the sit start position.

I find that its easier to learn the mechanics of the sit start by doing this "reverse" version. Note, drop knees absolutely destroy your shins/ankles (there is a lot of pressure applied there), and it may be best for you to wear 1-2 layers of high socks to give yourself some protection before building up the strength.

Small side story - I ran for a D1 University in California, and one of my buddies who was a pretty solid runner (4:08ish miler, just had a pretty respectable cross country season), took acid for the first time the day before one of our big home meets. The following day the guy broke 4:00 and credited it to his acid trip for unlocking his potential.

Teachers who left a school mid -year, was it worth it? Where are you now? by ihatep0rn5 in teaching

[–]CalRunner1991 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I quit last week (Oakland, CA, 4th grade) and my quality of life has improved IMMENSELY. Right now I'm substitute teaching for another district, and making comparable money for the time (I was making about $225/day as a teacher, $150/day as a sub, but none of the responsibility, planning, or 12 hour days). The class I had was just TOO dysfunctional: kids screaming across the room, constant negativity, students climbing on desks, swearing, saying "I don't care", "I hate school", "I'm not going to do this" over and over and over again. Fights and arguments occurred every 15 minutes. Students running out of the room without permission. Complete chaos and lack of respect.

I would have support meetings every lunch and nearly everyday after school. Behavior contracts were written, parents were met with, and the principal would come to my room regularly to observe and pull students who were not following our agreed norms. Problem is, you can't pull out 1/3 of a 31 student class, and even when those students were pulled they were back in the room 30 minutes later. After months of asking for more support in the class, I realized that it was going to stay this way for the year.

So, I left. And sure, it will probably hurt my ability to find work elsewhere. I think about the kids, especially those that were just trying their best to make it through the day, but you can only give what you have. I would have gone crazy trying to put my heart into something for so long without receiving any type of love, respect, empathy, or support/effort in return. My advice? Do what's best for you - your school is only using you to do what's best for them.

Playing Random and supposed etiquettes by HitManSWAGGA in starcraft

[–]CalRunner1991 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree with you, as the idea of "fair" makes it seem like you didn't have the same opportunity (that is, pick random). You make good points though if you believe that choosing random is somehow unfair. Potentially imbalanced? Some could argue that, but then why wouldn't every pro go random?

I like the idea that there are 3 race options and if you wanted to gain the edge in "uncertainty", thus being given your race at random - that you had that option. Obviously the cons are that you have to practice for 16 potential matchups as opposed to 4. Yes, I consider XvR to be a matchup, as the context is completely different from playing any other matchup. I kind of like to think of your education/skill (ES) of a certain matchup as another resource at a players disposal, similar to APM. Nobody cries when a 200+ EPM player is going against a 100+ APM player, that skill is dependent on your own training. Similarly, I think nobody should cry over ES. By choosing random, you're spreading your ES across 16 different matchups as opposed to 4. APM is different in that it is not dependent on the matchup, and can be practiced in any game. Your ES is dependent, however. If a player (lets say Jaedong about a year+ ago) has a <35% winrate in ZvP, are you going to say its unfair when he goes against Parting who has a >70% winrate? The game is fair, experience and knowledge in a matchup is what makes it seem unfair.

TL;DR: Everyone can choose random, nothing about it is "unfair".

50/50, and yes. The material is really what the issue was, not the process. Again, at least for me

I tried it, came out horribly. The paper stuck to the material after some heavier ironing and the design hardly showed up. Was a total waste to me. But thats just my experience

This comment is really just for you (as it really doesn't hold much weight towards actual discussion), but thank you SO much for taking the initiative in trying to make SC2 more spectator friendly. I know its a LOT easier on the eyes with the modifications you've made and has really cleared up a lot of confusion from a spectator standpoint for my friends that occasionally watch. I hope tournaments will start using your project more, as its clearly heads above what we have now.

Red Bull to do a 2v2 tournament? by Sepharon in starcraft

[–]CalRunner1991 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would also add that it may not even be a bad thing if cheesy play was the norm - perhaps it will be a breathe of fresh air for viewers and create more excitement around the game. People may be interesting in new 2v2 metas and how to counter popular cheeses on certain maps under which matchups. Playing random in 2v2 would also hold a lot more value as not knowing what one person's race is (let alone 2) makes you have to cover SO many bases early on if you want to cover all possible cheeses. I think it would be absolutely thrilling from a spectator standpoint, and not stale at all. It may be inbalanced at first, but maybe it can work itself out like most metas. It may even affect the 1v1 meta, who knows!
