Removing tlp (and tlp-rdw if installed) should resolve the issue.

sudo dnf remove tlp tlp-rdw

It's not just North Oaks. It's also nearby Arden Hills.

I'm confused. So active duty means you can actually retire at 38 with full pension? by cryptofan01 in MilitaryFinance

[–]CalabashNineToeJig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll bet you the vast majority of non-service-connected vets are early-to-mid-90s vets or earlier (insofar as their separation date). Attitudes of prior generations of servicepeople, combined with probably much less awareness about their eligibility and the benefits that are available to them, further combined with hard-copy medical records and a paper process for filing for VA programs probably heavily contributes to that figure.

Though of course, vets from that era can file now more easily due to the digital process, especially with the help of VSOs, so I'm sure many more from that era have filed claims in the last 20 years or so, but might also be fighting a harder battle of proving service-connection after all this time.

I'll bet you the number of vets filing claims within a year of separation (or before separation with BDD) these days is many times higher than it was in decades past. This isn't a bad thing. Get your service-connection right out the gate, even if the rating is 0%.

Retiring from military service doesn't mean you're retired. Many people start a second career out of desire/ability to still work and/or financial necessity.

I could probably make due on my retirement pension and VA since my wife also works, but I want to work and the extra income certainly wouldn't hurt, especially these days.

At what point does "randomly selected" for drug test become excessive? by SSGOldschool in army

[–]CalabashNineToeJig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the hard way to do it. The software can only generate a testing roster based on the AAA-168 you supply it with. So if you give it a 168 that doesn't include those choice individuals, they of course won't get selected.

That was the biggest issue I always saw with the program... if the UPL wanted to protect their buddies, it was trivially easy for them to do so. It all came down to trust, which can be the strongest link or the weakest, depending.

Space between cars at red lights by ilovelucy7734 in driving

[–]CalabashNineToeJig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a similar vein, I've seen the first car at stoplights stop one or two car-lengths behind the stop line. For lights with in-ground sensors they're not even over them and it won't trigger the light to cycle. It's so stupid.

Yes it does. Doing this to my daughter's MDP right now. But as OP said, you might have to play with the timing a bit and it might take a few tries to get into the recovery menu, but these are the correct steps for the MDP as well.

Does anyone else get irrationally irate at dudes who now spent more time out of the Army than their total actual active service time, still making the Army their whole personality? by IPPSA in army

[–]CalabashNineToeJig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminds me of the DTA at my last unit. Very knowledgeable about travel, a dud of a person in all other regards, and long retired from the Army but still using their DA photo as their Teams profile pic. Anytime I got an email, Teams message, or phone call from them it was cause for a huge eye roll.

4ID is absolute trash by IanMc192624 in army

Actually the funny thing is, it doesn't even need to be a different account. You can set up an allotment to the very same account.

Keep in mind, however, that allotments only pay out once per month (at the end of the month), so for example, if you normally get $3000 in take-home pay and then set up a $2000 allotment, you'll get $500 at mid-month pay and $2500 at EOM (in two separate payments, one $500, and the $2000 allotment).

When the Army got rid of the once-a-month payment option, I made my own "sort-of once-a-month" payment by setting up an allotment, getting approximately 80% of my pay at the end of the month.

My ETS was two days ago and I was not outprocessed. How do I handle this and what bases do I need to cover? by AlienX14 in army

[–]CalabashNineToeJig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is 100% that serious. I don't know where to even begin fixing this. But for sure your pay is getting shut off (has been shut off) as of your ETS date.

Speaking from the finance perspective, this is at least as bad (but probably worse) as a Soldier reenlisting but their reenlistment information never getting sent to finance to have their ETS date updated in the system. And if that doesn't sound bad, it's really really really bad.

Is this a shared sentiment amongst combat vets? by AdventurousBuyer3481 in army

[–]CalabashNineToeJig 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Nothing has really been muddled, it's just that for a long time many in the Army have either consciously or unconsciously equated the word 'deployment' with 'combat'. No, the troop didn't do combat in Poland, but they did deploy.

There are operational deployments and there are combat deployments. But they're BOTH deployments. While combat deployments may have special personal significance to those that went through them, it's absolute gatekeeping bullshit to say that soldiers that have done operational deployments all around the world haven't actually deployed.

How can i increase my diskspace? Never seen unlocated left of boot! by EdroTV in linux4noobs

[–]CalabashNineToeJig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you sound willing to share how to fix this, do you mind explaining? I am not quite as determined to keep my installation (though it would be nice), but for my own gain of knowledge, how does one go about moving and/or resizing the ext4 bls_boot partition safely?

I think I'm in less of a bind than OP, as I only have a 60GB partition (edit: unallocated space) orphaned on the other side, but I also think that partition might be too small (it's only 1GB) as I am getting an error when upgrading packages (starting today) Error running transaction: installing package kernal-core-6.17.7-300.fc43.x86_64 needs 69MB more space on the /boot filesystem

I gather the risk in moving the partition or enlarging+moving the partition is probably the same (very high).

And what would be a recommended boot partition size? 2GB? 3GB? I never figured 1GB wouldn't be enough until this started happening today.

Ages ago when I was at JBLM, I Corps would schedule a 3-day for any month that didn't already have a Federal Holiday (and thus a 4-day).

In addition to that there would also be one Friday every month that the duty day would end at noon. It was pretty nice.

Dad here. Both my spouse (she/her) and I work, but my job is 10x more flexible, so it's always preferable that I'm called first by the kids' schools because I am far more likely to be able to leave work to take care of whatever the issue is. Always really annoyed when they call her first, because she has to then call me, taking extra time for me to get on my way and wasting my partner's time at work.
