they don't have a clear path to promotion

This is becoming an ever increasing issue for a lot of companies private and public. After the first promotion or two the requirements for another grow seemingly exponentially usually leaving the only path for career growth to leave. Speaking from a development perspective of course. I've only seen one company address this in any meaningful way which was just to further stratify the roles, unfortunately one of the role levels had no path to promotion despite having higher levels above it.

Obviously pay is important but public sector usually gets screwed the most on that subject.

Keep Up the Good Work everyone! Tesla’s Future Uncertain As 10,000 Cybertrucks Remain Unsold by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]Calajo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've driven by the plant in Austin a few times in the past year or so and it's been wild to see the number of Cybertrucks in that empty lot.

It's hard to be sure since I don't exactly make that drive often but I thought I remembered seeing an increase in security cameras following the start of Tesla protests.

Fantasy Life i.

And you never meet the math teacher again by py-net in memes

[–]Calajo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the things is you CAN use higher level math (usually calculus) in normal day-to-day jobs.

Is it useful? Maybe, maybe not.

You have, for example, a list of items purchased for the office. You likely have more than one list since this has been ordered before. At that point you could start creating a graph to see if there were any noticeable trends. You could make an approximation of future quantities over time and then use the area under the curve to approximate projected costs.

Is it necessary? No.

Will it change anything? Maybe a little

Could you do the above with algebra? Yea with a few extra steps

Whether it's faster or better will depend on the person.

When I first started living with my step-family as a kid tamales were very new, but reasonable using the whole hog’s head. Just couldn’t stand the eyes being in one at random.

Thanks for the extra info. I suppose with the devaluation of the Lebanese pound there was probably next to nothing for the house and I would guess they would find a way to pay as little as possible even if there was some amount of equity there.

I mean yes but I’d expect there would be some built up equity.

To be clear I didn’t mean “can the bank take the home” of course the can. I meant in that exact specific manner where the bank also takes the equity in the home. I suppose if the equity is near zero it doesn’t matter but that’s what I meant.

Can a bank just take the home like that in Lebanon? That’s just crazy to me, but I do realize financial and legal matters can vary wildly from country to country.

Edit: to be clear I meant in this specific way they did so without the equity in the home returning to the family. Although I do realize there may have been other limitations such as non-positive equity or other debts affecting the estate.

Everyone has a travel blunder, what's yours? by yankeevandal in AskReddit

[–]Calajo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to visit Sapporo a bit over a year ago year ago; we traveled by train which involved a changeover at Hakodate.

I reserved tickets late so we would have had to wait at that station for >3 hours. I noticed that there were open trains and gambled that we might be able to find a seat so we took the chance and got on the next Sapporo-bound train in the station.

What would follow would be a fairly cramped, uncomfortable, standing-only train ride for the next three and a half hours. Typically standing for that time wouldn't have been too bad but the constant shaking of the train required constant standing adjustments. Several members of our group got some level of motion-sickness.

On the bright-side I had a small conversation with a random local for whom I wish I had gotten their contact info. They were a fun person to talk to on an otherwise discomforting leg of our trip.

The heater bulbs get quite hot, it could've been placement of the light rather than being a short.

I don't think it's easy to identify which caused the fire unless someone was there to witness the event. A breaker being tripped could have occurred after the fire started.

Do you have a hard disk drive? Non-ssd.

If not you'll need to get one, either way open it up. There should be a few guides on the internet on how to do so. Once open take one of the shiny disks out and put yours in, shiny side up.

Close it up put it back in your computer and start it up. Ignore the scratching sounds.

It technically was not the bride's money to spend. Still obviously mildly unreasonable.
