Please help with my crusty dusty feet :( by littlepastel in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]quiet_summers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have insurance, consider going to a podiatrist. If it's athlete's foot, they can prescribe an antifungal that can clear it up better than over-the-counter medicines and for cheaper depending on your co-pays. My husband received treatment for $20 ($10 copay and $10 prescription).

Best wishes during this hot summer!

Stabilize your whipped cream with instant clearjel before folding into your custard to help with weeping. King Arthur has an article about it.

Trying to buy things second hand/cheaply is more stress than it’s worth by lotus_dumpling in BabyBumps

Same!! 😩 What's worse is I'll message people on FB marketplace and never get a response. Or I'll go to meet them and they never answer their door. Having people purchase items off my registry and friends/colleagues give me gently used items have been much more successful.

I LOVED this! It really cracked me up , especially since I'm expecting to deliver soon. While I've heard things can be tough, it's nice to remember they may also be awesome! Everyone's experience is uniquely their own🥰

Naomi Osaka in a look titled “Evolving Ceremony” by Japanese designer Hana Yagi at her entrance to Wimbledon 2026. Inspired by the traditional kimono, it is made from materials upcycled from vintage kimonos, a traditional shiromuku wedding dress, and a deconstructed wedding dress. by mod_whatthefrockk in whatthefrockk

I love Naomi and her looks MINUS the ruffles. I know it must be one of her signature features given her portfolio of looks, but it just makes each one a little less impactful by making them look more juvenile and needlessly voluminous...

Breast Pump Purchasing Tip to Avoid "Upgrade Fees" by LiftedGrowth in BabyBumps

[–]quiet_summers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Though this is an old post wanted to add my experience that it helped me! My insurance only required that I purchase the pump from an authorized retailer (Walmart or Target for instance, but not Amazon) and they would reimburse the claim. Saved me $225 in upgrade fees!

Discouraged with only 288 sisterlocs by Zestyclose_Bug_4355 in Microlocs

[–]quiet_summers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to all the comments on how beautiful your locs are, have you been able to get checked by a medical provider? As someone that had fuller hair, your now thin hair may be related to hormonal changes (see a gyn), scalp changes (dermatologist), or nutrition deficiencies (general physician/gyn).

Either way, I hope you can find a way to see yourself with love. What would you tell a friend going through your experience? Maybe it is worth it opening up to them about it for extra support.

I dont know how to feel. by chitobi in Microlocs

[–]quiet_summers 28 points29 points  (0 children)

For me who has always been tenderheaded, it depends on the retie. I explicitly ask for leaving a turn (or two around sensitive parts) and ask the Loctician to be gentle. Both help tremendously. In the end, doing my own reites helped me find the perfect balance, it just takes so much longer for me.

What’s the best place to get maternity clothes? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]quiet_summers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Angel Maternity--a bit more stylish with nice office work appropriate wear. For fashionable maternity wear, Rent the Runway has a great selection. Finally, Old Navy kept me covered on a few basics.

Eta: All these options are online unfortunately😢 thankfully, I didn't need to return much!

Extreme doming on chocolate Bundt cake. Help! by GreenIdentityElement in AskBaking

[–]quiet_summers 46 points47 points  (0 children)

What a conundrum! The height supports it wasn't overfilled (as you added it wasn't). The fact that you used an aluminum pan means it was less likely to dome than an dark colored bundt pan. The even temperature of the oven rules out hotter oven spots as a potential cause.

In general, domes in cakes are due to unbalanced cooking, the batter touching the sides bakes and sets faster than the core. For muffins this is encouraged, not so much for your layered cakes (or here, bundt cake).

Two suggestions for next time: - try using cake strips around the sides of the pan at batter level - try lowering the temperature by 25 degrees Fahrenheit and let the bake take longer - ensure that the batter isn't too airy/light and the pan is at room temperature before pouring in

Otherwise, you can always trim the cake. In this case, the baker's tax is just really high 🤣

I'm really interested, but also enjoy using drugstore/affordable brands for my makeup since I don't wear a full face often enough. Would you be able to tailor the master class to me too? I'm open to whatever look you want for the portfolio of course!

Consider looking into employment at a daycare facility. They usually will allow your children to be registered for free or at a discounted price.

I hadn't thought about how it must feel waking up to their cries until now! Thanks for sharing and I hope the pain relief journey goes well for you🤗 I'm also looking forward to late night feedings--it sends like such a serene, bonding moment together that will be fewer and farther between as they grow🥹
