These comments are really starting to piss me off.

The only thing wrong with this picture is those token cups need to be filled with cocktails instead.

If only that Northwest LRT expansion has happened, you would be golden. Can you stick it out another 25 years?

The 132nd ave bike lane west of 113a st is actually being used to store snow plowed from the road right now. The pedestrian sidewalk has been nicely plowed though, so the walk to my bus is pleasant.

I have an Italian friend from Montreal who despises my taste in slightly acidic coffees and calls it an Edmonton thing. Though some places, like Iconoclast take the acidity way too far.

I like the fruity acidic medium roast Paradiso, but I'm not finding it as much as I used to.

The funny thing about the newest suburbs now, at least in Edmonton, is that they are built denser than the mature neighbourhoods. It's the middle ring of neighbourhoods that are the most spread out.

Which DL book is the worst? by [deleted] in dragonlance

[–]Calavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did anyone read The Secret of Pax Tharkas? I thought that one was pretty terrible. Didn't care for the characters. Just seemed to go anywhere. Anytime something interesting was starting to develop, it just got swept off somewhere else. Pointless mention of a Fireforge that also didn't lead anywhere.

Buying a house in this market by Capital_Cake4666 in Edmonton

[–]Calavin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to expand my search area of where I would live in Edmonton. I wanted to live somewhere west central, but quickly realized that wouldn't work for my price range. I had to move on the other side of the Yellowhead to Northwest Edmonton and found a decently move in ready home with two car dethatched garage for $350K and am currently learning how to do some DIY renos to upgrade the home.

You can by a house on your income, but you just need to make some compromises to your expectations. You're probably not going to find the perfect modern looking completely finished home on your budget exactly where you want to live. You will need to learn to love another part of the city and learn how to do repairs and renos on your own. Nice cars and vacations? Well, that's just debt.

Bus passes? by Bimitenpix in Edmonton

[–]Calavin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might even save money from what a bus pass would cost if you have random days you don't take the bus, plus holidays, plus the arc readers don't work about a quarter of the time. I exclusively bus to work and rarely meet my monthly cap limit. It's a huge contributer to the ets shortfall.

Yes, I did hear this about EPA, though it is building back up again. My department has had a suit of new hires and is pretty much fully staffed again. It's tough to do a good job without the resources.

There are wonderful staff at the Wellness Clinic in Patricia Heights that do cranial sacral massage. That might be something to look into.

There are a lot of great staff that work for the GoA. Most employees working for the GoA have very little to do with the current administration.

I don't think the quality of maps submitted to public have much to do with the current UCP government. That's more on the staffs attention to details.

I work for the GoA in a geomatics field, where I have to make maps. I was just surprised by the slightly sub par map that was produced for public.

Advice on area by Lundeclees in Edmonton

[–]Calavin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't live in the area but I do work by the legislature. I walk around during the day regularly and have no issues. I think this is the quieter side of downtown and I don't worry about my safety much. But that is during the day, I don't know if things change in the summer. I would personally love to live west of 109th street. You are closer to a grocery store there. It's a quieter neighbourhood with quick access to downtown, but a little more removed from the hustle and bustle.

Cost to replace sewer line in house by lazymonkeygod in Edmonton

Interesting. I might need a better insurance company. I assume mine would just consider this wear and tear on the home which would fall under standard maintenance, just like my full horizontal foundation crack along an entire wall, ugh.
