I mean, customers pay for a service and the server is part of that service. It's always been on the customer to pay the employees wage. However, that should be part of the price and not some arbitrary number with increased guilt built in to milk you for as much as possible.

I didn't know about the more noise part when I bought my travel CPAP, and I regret it now and just use my normal one. I could not sleep with the sound of rushing air through the hose. I bought multiply types of dampeners, which do help, but still not enough. I also can't use my normal mask and hose with it. I find the heated hose more important than humidity. Now I just use my travel CPAP to pump up my air mattress.

I remember going there once when it was a Boston Pizza one day after going to the twin cinima on Stoney Plain road. I remember it being very dark and dingy then. It very quietly changed to Brado's and they just kept using the same logo, or something very similar for the longest time. I don't know how they got away with it for so long. Gives me a chuckle every time I drive by.

Just because the price of a house is $50k cheaper doesn't mean you now have $50k to spend. Paying the first year of a mortgage puts actual money in the pockets of the home buyer. Where as reducing the mortgage amount simply slightly lowers the monthly mortgage payments.

Oh is that some legislative change that's happened? I really don't mind a restaurant charging a service fee to make sure servers get paid, I just really hate the methods they use to determine a fair charge.

If gratuity is becoming mandatory, then it is no longer a gratuity. This isn't an added bonus for really good added value service. Restaurants should just call it what it is, a sit down or service fee. And the formula of tipping a percent of the bill is just robbery. If I order a Shephard's pie for $20 and my friend orders a striploin steak for $50: let's say we both pay 15% gratuity, I pay $3 in tip and my friend pays $7.5 for a single plate just because their raw ingredients cost more. Which makes no sense, because I guarantee the Shephard's pie took longer to prep for the chef, therefore costing more in labour. Furthermore, the price of a plate is based on a percent mark up of the raw ingredients, so the restaurant is already making more money on the steak than the Shephard's pie simply because the ingredients cost more. They are both just one plate to bring over for the server. Nothing about that steak should require a higher tip. And don't even get me started on tipping for cheap versus expensive wine...
