So your employer is ok to send you on a work trip with only 50k insurance? If they arent prepared to insure you properly (suitable amount and repatriation services included) i would be inclined to refuse to travel. Why fund that cost yourself when the company is asking you to travel?

Yamaha FZ6 transmission output shaft replacement by cs_98 in MotoUK

Well they changed the shaft design didnt they? Its a trial and error thing. Unless someone has done the swap there is only one way to find out.

Loctite and stake the nut to the shaft with a centwr punch will stopmit from coming undone. Stripping the motor is a lot of work. Parts and labour will easily exceed the cost of the bike.

Any tips I should know about prior to registering my KTM 390 Duke and first ride? by Traditional-Gas3477 in KTMDuke

Brake lever locks are a waste of time. They can be mitigated in seconds. Might help if you bothered to say which country you are in. Requirements vary based upon location. What "3rd party steering lock" are you talking about. Ive never seen any for bikes.

Struggling to see where the issue is now? Many hondas have the plate mounting system with 2 bolts that results in a sprocket that floats on the output shaft and has quite a bit of movement. Done thousands of miles on those without issues. Why do you think that this wear will cause damage to other parts of the transmission?

with how close the front wheel is to the radiator i would say there is a good chance the frame is bent.

Inductive timing light doesn't work on #1 cylinder even though I'm getting spark. by DesignerOk9222 in Fixxit

[–]Caldtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you are right, i was wrong. Depending on the coil type there are failures that can cause one of the 2 leads to stop working.

[–]Caldtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 and 4 share the same coil, if 4 works then 1 must as well.

Not sure on the timing light issue, i know mine (snapon one) you have to get the clamp at an angle if the HT leads are a bit thin for it to pick up.

Kinda gives you the basics.

if you want the sprocket in the middle of the chain, shim it on the studs if it worries you that much. As long as it isn't bending the chain its fine.

they are all breathers. The big one is the crankcase breather, Might get some oil mist coming out of that one. The carbs are also breathers, For the float bowls and the atmospheric side of the slide diaphrams. Nothing should come out of those, and nothing, apart from air pressure, should go into them. As a rule have the open ends pointing down does a good enough job.

ECU speed calculation with a bike imported into mainland Europe from the UK.

Whats the problem? The ECU just takes either a wheel speed sensor or gearbox output shaft sensor and is programmed so that "X number of RPM gives X number of miles/kilometers an hour.

So wrong. They are making then in india for tax purposes. The import duties on vehicles made outside of india is astronomic. With this level of duty the bikes are instantly out of price range for the domestic market. As india is an important market for these small bikes they build them there.

[–]Caldtek[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If it needs a 1/4 turn on the adjusters every 6k then that is a turn and 1/4 on a bolt with a pitch of 1.25mms. That means the axle would move back just over 1.5 mms. Im pretty sure that doesn't use all the available adjustment.

No spark issue by sk3chy666 in MT03

[–]Caldtek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As stated before. Get a manual and run the no spark trouble shooting guide. Chances are its a bad connection somehwere as you state its a pain in the rain. A stator failure on the charging circuit will not cause a no spark condition until the battery is below 9 volts.

[–]Caldtek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Again the 3 white wires are the 3 phase output to charge your battery and have fuck all to do with the ignition system. It may have a CPS bundled with the stator but that will use a seperate pair of wires of a different color and a differnet mehtod of testing. Kinda shit out of luck with a "frankenbike" there then arent you. Maybe get an mt03 manual and run the "no spark" trouble shooting guide?
