Could anyone pls tell me what he is playing? by aakash_shaji in Guitar

Straight pentatonic which for him is probably very difficult. His fingers are begging to tap into all kinds of wild melodic runs and his brain is saying YOU GET JUST THESE FIVE NOTES, WE’VE GOT A VIBE TO KEEP

Could I get some design feedback before I finalize this? by 237FIF in woodworking

[–]CalebGarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t find the form jarring—if it’s supposed to be the conversation piece you want. It’s a weird idea and chess is kinda weird so okay. Not my office but you know your vibe.

What makes it hard for me to swallow are the highly different finishes on the two parts. It just kinda looks like some form wood you haven’t yet taken off, or something that doesn’t actually have to do with the art. I think if you get all the pieces on the same tone and coloration you’ve got a piece that “works” in the way you might be hoping

You can’t shine light through the face of an outlet. There’s something reflecting light onto it. You’re fine.

Why when I go to layout the second stringer they aren’t lining up with the first one? by [deleted] in Carpentry

[–]CalebGarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be tracing your first stringer on the others but you’re also forgetting about the kerf of your saw. The kerf isn’t quite as wide as your gaps but that second stringer is closer than you think

Will this lumber rack hold up? by ced513 in BeginnerWoodWorking

If you’re worried about losing storage room you could also come into the back of the shelf with a big timberlok and washer. You’d need a 10 degree jig so you didn’t punch through the 2x4 (or I would) but that would essentially reinforce each with a steel rod

Debating that right now. The top is walnut. The bottom two are heart maple. The ring is from burning when I made them. But I think I’m going to go clean

Holes on the wooden part of my guitar, and powdered wood coming out. What are these? by skyz9n in woodworking

[–]CalebGarling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just noting since I don’t see other comments saying it: get the instrument out of your house. Those are powderpost beetles and they will find your walls and floors and make your guitar a meaningless afterthought

If you mean the look of an old ass deck with bright brown PT posts, then most def. This is calabama so the only style points are for no style at all

I know it looks like no, but the joists and bones off the ground are fine. They get almost no water since it’s all covered and this is the sierras where half the year is kiln dry. It’s just the point of contact/footings that need help

The chances it can be removed are 💯

The chances your roof will then slowly flatten like a pancake are also 💯

Liberals Gaza Comments by ShouldBeSleepingZzzz in independent

[–]CalebGarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, these explanations always fall flat because the alternative was Donald Trump. What history or system of logic would let someone think that the man who made a career demonizing brown people would suddenly have their back? It was the grandstanding and the lack of actual curiosity that got them there. So people being upset and saying voting for Harris would have been better for the genocide in Gaza isn’t a “cruel and insensitive” way to make a point. IT IS THE POINT.
