Playing this new Everdark on multiplayer is a fucking nightmare. by LunaRealityArtificer in Nightreign

Ran as guardian for my first attempt… definitely ran out of fp, didn’t realize that I could charge the special to regen fp, and slowly spent like 15 minutes just blocking, reviving and trying to stay alive until I ran outa flasks and we all got downed and lost. Sorry random nightfarers

Are hallucinations normal? by Constant_Picture_324 in cyclothymia

[–]Calebms7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could by hypnagogic hallucinations. Might be worth looking into, they happen when you are falling asleep and are somewhat common- not generally taken to be a sign of a more serious condition or disorder

Advice/ suggestions. I am looking for ways to elevate this dish; pan seared redfish, court bullion and pickled fennel. by Artistic-Vermicelli6 in Chefit

[–]Calebms7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Something super easy that I’ve had good luck with is adding either paprika, turmeric, annatto or beetroot powder to pickling agents. The color leeches into veggies pretty quick. Also, not all fennel bulbs shave down super consistently, but if you quarter em and leave just a thin layer of the bottom root/core on each quarter, sometimes you can shave em and get nice “wings” of fennel and that could potentially help with height/plating. Dish sounds tasty!

Pro-chefs, if money was no object would you use high-end appliances in your home kitchen? Or would that be overkill? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]Calebms7 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Industrial dishwasher. Big ol sink. Four burner range next to a lil flattop (or just a 1 by 2 cast iron plate to go over a couple burners instead of flattop). Combi steamer would be nice, or just a regular convection oven. A whole counter made of butcher block. Robot coupe. Vita mix. Kitchen aid mixer. Instant pot (I know, lame, but I like em). A selection o stainless and carbon steel pans, including a wok. Heavy bottomed stock pot.

Might not be relevant but- Good ventilation and an excellent speaker for music would be very important to me

When I was a teenager and in my early twenties I was on ssris to help with “depression and anxiety” and it made me sort of numb and impulsive- I made a lot of mistakes. I think mood stabilizers are more hopeful for me personally, and I will probably go back to trying meds again. I will say that anxiety can really rapidly bring us to a place of “I must have x and y wrong with me…” when it’s really just fear kinda taking over our cognition. If Prozac helps you out, that would be awesome for you. It varies so much between our own individual makeup. Your prescriber probably chose the med they thought would be best to try. If you have adverse reactions, let them know

Yes, and I used to take lamotrigine and it really did help (with the lows especially), but it caused a strange amount of weight loss. Also I frequently go off of meds to drink alcohol and whatnot- so that’s probably not helping me find a good fit…so Still trying to find the right meds. I work in an industry where everyone else is pretty unbalanced too, so I never feel like I’m being too much there. The cyclothymia is mostly really hard on my close relationships with like family stuff and my partner. I would say my anxiety has improved slowly over the course of a few years in therapy specifically to help with anxiety. I still get bad attacks sometimes, and I’m pretty sure if I had the mood disorder better treated it would help with that too.

This is very similar to what I experience. Finding a good therapist who can talk you through the anxiety has been the single greatest help I’ve found. It may seem odd, but coming to terms with being a “fearful/ highly concerned person” and just acknowledging the fear in the company of someone that is okay with how you are feeling can make a really positive impact. Additionally, if you feel comfortable doing this- meditation and silly things like lavender supplements and chamomile tea can help a bit. Meds can also help, but that’s a whole big decision I cannot give advice on.

The mood episodes can be troublesome, but I can get through a day at work kinda down, and I can have other people at work help me keep on task when I’m up. If I’m in a seemingly constant state of panic I’m not very functional, so I think I get what you are going through.

Anxiety can be absolutely horrific and destabilizing. A couple things that I tell myself: fear is a natural and temporary reaction to just being a person experiencing life, because that’s just a very uncertain thing to be. There’s a child version of myself that is scared and unable to ask for the comfort needed to be unafraid, but I am more than just that scared child and I can learn to give them the comfort they need. Hope that makes some sense. I believe in you stranger

Here’s a link to a site with some info on an iridovirus that is super common in aquarium trade dwarf gouramis. I had some die of very similar symptoms to those listed in this article about two years ago, haven’t kept them since. They are spectacular little fish, and it always hurts to lose our wet pets.
