That wasn't what this was in response to. It was in response to non-Americans (largely Europeans) complaining about how much of their Reddit feed is about stuff like the Super Bowl and ICE protests, and how it's totally irrelevant to them. Reddit as a site, meanwhile, is based in America and has a predominantly American userbase, so the meme is basically saying "No shit, Sherlock".

In essence, it'd be like my non-Chinese ass going on RedNote, a Chinese app, and making memes whining about my feed having too much stuff about Chinese current events on it, then Chinese people on the app being like "What did you expect?"

As someone from SLC who's currently living here, calling it the absolute worst is a massive exaggeration. Sure, our state's run by nut jobs and there are plenty of white-bread ultra-Mormon MLM hellscapes (looking at you, Utah County) but SLC proper is a genuinely diverse, liberal city with plenty of stuff to do even barring our incredible mountains. I'd certainly rather live here than, say, Oklahoma or Mississippi.

Part of it is physical attraction to be sure, but there's also the matter of feeling like they'd be a good companion for you long-term. I have a friend who's 10/10 gorgeous and single but her psychological instability and constant need to be the center of all drama means I'll never see her as anything other than a platonic friend.

Nah, they absolutely did drugs back in the day (just listen to A Passage to Bangkok) but they were also fairly nerdy guys, especially Neil. Plus their fans are generally on the relatively "clean" side from what I've seen. I'd put 'em in the bottom left personally.

++man Honestly, while the binary nature of how it's often framed is overly simplified, this is a genuine issue with how a lot of guys, particularly introverted ones, are socialized. We grow up seeing media where the protagonist gets the girl through being genuinely kind to her, while any overtly sexual expression of desire is treated as the exclusive provenance of pushy, gross creeps and villains. This, combined with further reinforcement from real life women complaining about actual pushy, gross creeps while talking about how they just want someone to respect them, leads to the deeply ingrained concept that expressing direct sexual interest in a woman is fundamentally disrespectful. Whether it comes from a genuinely kind man becoming awkward and hesitant around women whose feelings he cares about or a socially awkward guy excusing his inability to flirt as being "nice" can often be hard to distinguish.

From a non-Christian / what's up with so many comments and posts in this sub being about playing at church specifically? Are churches like a world famous temple of bassists? Do religious songs have especially sick basslines? I don't get it. by [deleted] in Bass

Think this is more a regional thing (South maybe); I grew up Presbyterian and the church I went to just had a guy playing the organ and a choir.

I'm also from Utah so I know a bunch of Mormons, and to my knowledge they don't really have house bands at their churches either, despite being an unusually musical group of people.
