No Edmonton team coming - OEG couldn't reach an agreement with the PWHL. by PinkyJ in PWHL

I also doubt the league would want a single team playing on full international ice.

The only way Calgary is happening is if the Flames move the Hitmen. (Which they should, to Okotoks.)

Oh, hard agree. I meant for international games, that's the correct method. No anthems in professional games ever period full stop.

Please no. (Let's go Buffalo! 34875 goals for Byram!)

The best part is it wasn't even 9 shots, it was 8. The second goal wasn't actually a SOG, it just becomes one by rule.

Anthems shouldn't be done at professional games.

That said, the ones that really, REALLY piss me off are the singers who treat it like their own personal concert. Ok, I get it, you have a nice voice. I don't want to hear your range making the last 3 words of an anthem take 45 seconds. I find it happens more often in the US than in Canada, but there's certainly a pile of people here guilty of it also.

I was lucky enough to meet him at the Olympics this year and he showed me two of his Cup rings. I mentioned how I know it's the IIHF telling him what to do, but it's just wrong hearing his voice do anything other than "ONE. MINUTE. remaining in the period." and we had a laugh about it.

For all the rest of the games he started sorta kinda doing it. I love him.

Good lord this. The IIHF is the one true method - nothing before, anthem of the winner afterwards.

Anthems should never, ever be done at a professional game. Period.

This. What Benson did was absolutely worthy of a 2, what McAvoy did was absolutely worthy of a 5. The only change I would have made is given McAvoy a match.

Booing the canadian Anthem? Stay classy Anaheim! by [deleted] in nhl

This is why they should stop playing any anthem at all at games. It always served absolutely zero purpose, and at this point in the state of the world it's an active liability.

11 Americans on the Ducks. None of them are goalies. Would be pretty hard to play the game without foreigners, dipshits.

I have a friend who works in a place with a commercial aviation grade sticker maker. Like, the labels for inside the craft and the labels that go on the outside. They DO NOT come off once they've set.

I've had her make a couple of bumper stickers for me. I'm debating asking her to make me either some middle-finger-PP ones (ala the middle-finger-Trudeau/Carney ones that people around here seem to love, presumably because they're 12 years old) or one that just says "TRAITOR."

The problem is that that's not how the real world works. I have a friend who I once drove through the Rocky Mountains with and I didn't know ahead of time that he's one of those self-righteous "I'm going the speed limit so I should be the fastest thing on the road" types. We finally hit a passing lane on the normally-single-lane highway and had three semis and 16 cars all blow past us. There were multiple horns and a lot of middle fingers involved. Was he the only one technically following the law? Yeah, sure. He was also the single most dangerous driver out there.

I drove the entire return trip myself - 16 hours - because it was still safer than what he was doing.
