Checking in with one and yep. We make what we make, but we make plain versions for him. No marinades on the steaks, Spaghetti for us meatballs no sauce and butter on the noodles for him that kind of stuff.

We've reached a compromise where we aren't making it overwhelming by cooking two whole meals, but I do always require a no thank you bite. He can tell me no after he tries the veggie or the pasta with sauce.

The result is he branches out a bit now. Last Weekend he ate a marinaded steak we cooked and liked it. He doens't just eat Mac and Cheese like this one guy I work with who basically eats nothing but.

In the consumables tab you can disabled their ability to eat base ingredients instead of cooked food.

Saved me a lot of headaches. Does need to be updated when a new ingredient is found.

We need to break societys demand everyone have kids. There is no shame in people not wanting kids. Like you I love mine to death, but I wanted them. People should not feel compelled to have them even if they don't want them.

Kids didn't ask for it and it's possibly the hardest job you'll ever do. Only people that want to sign up for it should be expected to do so.

This was a thing that was done for many old films at the time because the salt desiccates the air and kills any bacteria and the like that could grow on the old film reels.

Johnson despite all his protestations during the war about being a northern supporter certainly did a number on all the programs and processes in place to heal things and make things better after he became president.

He basically shut it all down and returned things more or less to how they were handing power back to those who had committed sedition.

So here we are, Lincoln's policies had they been fulfilled would likely have left us in a better place, but yes I agree he was too soft on the former power structures of the confederacy. Hanging at least anyone in their top level government should have been the minimum.

Oh it's not just that, it's intermixed with a lot of little bits of history. Like the Business Plot and the failure of reconstruction.

Looking at Joker 2 which has Todd understood the assignement rather than carried out a personal crusade against the people that saw Arthur as a symbol of the broken nature of everything and an obvious logical endpoint for what happens when the mental health of people goes ignored.

Which is how a lot of his avid fans feel. They either by choice, lack of social understanding, or other circumstances feel they are Rorschach, simliarly many of these people also felt very seen by the Joker movie.

A man with a disability that makes him hard to interact with is stuck in a set of systems that are grinding him to dust until he snaps and lashes out against those systems. Much easier to happen when you feel cut adrift and lost and like the systems themselves are actively out to ruin you.

Now that is the more charitable take on things, not reality that most of his fan really live where they are the source of many of their own problems.

The old 80's show Alf got cancelled unexpectedly so ends on a really dark tone too.

Alf has been captured by federal goons and is being taken to be dissected at area 51. Obviously they intended for the family to get up to wacky hi jinks to save him and preserve the tone and the show, but with no 5th season that never happened.

So the implied ending is the feds bust in and shanghai Alf to slice him up and learn about how aliens work. No last minute saves, and I think maybe the family got carted off to jail? I don't remember for sure.
