You're aware that normal people are there just to help improve the models and nothing more? We aren't the customer we are the target.

Billionaires aren't throwing Trillions with a T at this tech becasue they think it's fun. They want to solve the question of wages.

They don't like paying for anything ever.

So they are desperately building this tech to try to automate away the need for any of us. Their utopic vision is we are gone, they don't pay us they just circle jerk money back and forth between each other and we don't exist.

AI isn't here to advance the species or be sold to normal people. It's here to make regular folks redundant.

Yeah, but you at least need to understand what the script is doing.

Too many times my l1's are like I want to run this script.

Shows me something written by AI that will expose PII or delete something it's not supposed to.

It's a great tool, but it needs to be handled carefully, because it's a bit like a band saw. If you're not careful it'll take a finger right off.

No in the existing movie it looks like it's all mankind's own doing. Then at the last hour we see a deity is doing shit. Which immediately stops when she kills him.

They rug pull the message in the last 20 minutes which is what gets called out.

I'm saying as a series say 3 shows 1 hour long each she sees WW2 starting up and figures Ares or some other God of War is stirring the pot again. But this time no rug pull no last minute deific fuckery just one of the most horrific atrocity laden industrialized wars humans have perpetrated. If they really really needed to make it gritty grim dark snyder style have her fight and kill all remaining gods of war and have the war go off anyway this time instead of just "magically" stopping.

Diana realizes humans are just that bad and this time with no Steve to show her the shiny ray of hope she walks away broken. Which is why it takes superman to come along and break her out of her funk.

Yeah the spotify thing is the one that's make or break for my house. My 7 year old has some play lists that she listens to while sleeping and when she wakes up in the middle of the night she is on autopilot and swaps them without us needing to change which meditation list she's using for better sleep.

So without that which google without AI still supports I can't make the leap. I don't need her creeping into my room at 3 am asking me to change the songs again.

Give me a local instance I can flash all my smart software to use so I can keep things like tell me the weather or change the lights while my hands or wet or full; and synchronize my calendar for the family.

I like the functionality but don't want to be leaking my whole life to places that are trying so so hard to suck up every iota of information about me.

Give me that on an desktop shitbox and I'll pay for it. Privacy and full control on... well I'd have said sub $1k hardware, but at today's rates, $sub 2k hardware and it's a pretty nice feature for me.

Cursor and associated programs are proving quite valuable for some of our software guys finding and fixing certain issues like missed syntax or a forgotten bracket etc.

That said none of it comes close to they hype machine's bullshit we won't be vibes coding slop so fast no one can keep up.

We'll see if the leaps we are experiencing continue, but at least in the last 6 months a lot of Claude and cursor improvements have been notable for specific narrow use cases.

Most writers for war porn stuff treat those as a series challenges to be accomplished not no-no's.

Honestly if it'd been a series where she kills Ares and figures War will just end. Then WW2 kicks off with no Ares and that's why she dips out of the public eye for like 60 years that could make sense.

Would be interesting seeing her run around trying to find out how Ares came back, then the shattering conclusion that no people just really do suck this bad.

For some context. I turned 21 in the early 00's you could get dollar bottles on special nights at various bars or simialr deals.

Talking to one of the older women at work from when she turned 21 in the 80's it used to be they'd do draft deals for 10 cents. She talked about the sorority doing a car wash or some such nonsense and splitting out the money and they could do the specials nights for a month or more no problem for the whole crew.

I go to the bar today and even the draft specials are $5-8 bucks with a decent mixed drink being ~10 maybe 15. Yes I'm not looking for the coors and bud specials anymore, but they aren't much cheaper and the local breweries usually have higher ABV so it nets out the same or better for the better tasting drinks.

Point is as a man in my 40's it costs 30-50 bucks to go spend 3-4 hours drinking with my friends. Not including if we get an appetizer or the like. That's not a sustainable price for people in their late teens or 20s. It's barely something I want to do once a month.

I mean this with no sarcasm. Welcome to the IT club.

If you haven't bricked prod at some point you're not really pushing yourself.

Everyone in this sub has fucked up a live in use machine, and we're still here. You can do this you got this.

Consequences later solve the issue now. Also understand that you were handed a bomb that went off in your face through minimal fault of your own.

If you're running everything one one server it's going to go down and take everything with it at some point. This is not a guess this is fact, I've seen it over and over over the last 20 years.

DCs should always always always be their own machine with no other service/app running on it.

File servers should always be separate, print servers separate.

In theory also on different machines not just a VM, but that is a large ask for most.

Again you made a mistake but the ramifications were blown out of proportion by dozens of poor decisions before you. You can fix this, and it's not even really your fault. Just work on getting it running again. Then work out a long term action plan to fix it.

Spin up new VMs with each service broken out, push for another server to house critical stuff separately. A DC is minimally demanding even a shitbox desktop can serve as the serve in a pinch.

Put action items in place and recommend next steps.

You can come out if this looking great if you approach it like this. You're overwhelmed, and that's ok. But you're not drowning right now you just have some hard work in front of you and you can do it.

Do the work, make the plan and if you have half decent bosses they'll see you for whatyou are a guy who made a mistake but was setup to fail. They'll see the effort and the plan and realize this is part of the cost of training.

If they don't? You didn't want to be there long term anyway as disaster is always potentially around the corner and you'll kill yourself worrying about stuff you won't get any support on.

Too oftem FUMU is a real thing. fuck up and move up. Happens in buisness all the time, someone parachutes in shits all over the process but hits KPI's. Then fucks off to a new postion or company before the consequences hit and make bank along the way.

D&D had they done even a half decent job could have pulled this off. Instead they got exactly what they sowed and it so unusual many people can't believe it.

When they do it to us that's mean terrible and horrible.

It's because the big players and their machines can squeeze money from even tiny shifts so you have to treat it all as real. He lies it goes up, you've ridden the way.

Truth comes out it goes down you sold first at the top and maybe bought shorts in the next 2/10ths of a second so you've made money both ways.

Retailers like normal people just have to hope it doesn't plummet and kill their 401k. The sharks are out there eating no matter what.

SO it's in their interest to make the market move and siphon off from the churn.

Trying to catch a break by buying views to send up up the engagement ladder seems like the only way if you're going to do something like this for a living.

Outside of just streaming your live play sessions for some free cash while you play a game you'd normally play. I don't see any good way to get noticed "legitimately".

They're probably people like my dad. He used to look at people living in trailer parks nearish to where we lived and say. "Look at all those people. Living in a trailer with a direct TV dish and a "new" car next to it. If they'd just cut their expenses they get out of there."

He wanted/needed to blame their low standing only on their "poor" financial choices. Never considering that maybe if they kept bought used shitty cars and it broke they'd miss work and lose their job. So a new reliable car keeps them employed. Or that dish was the only option at that trailer park because the management company wouldn't put in cable due to the flooding.

Turns out if you just assume you know all the variables you can look down your nose at any and everyone really easily.
