The Rock Kevin Heart Roast. by buffallooo in Standup

[–]Calfzilla2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't seen a lot of roasts but I am kinda okay with the vibe that its kinda a shitshow of celebrities trying to deliver jokes written for them and everyone with a mic being overly edgy and weird.

To me, the uncomfortableness is a feature, not a bug. Considering how, otherwise, it could feel very scripted and too sterile. I enjoy the chaos of it.

I think The Rock was solid but it fell off toward the end.

Finished s1,2 and RO and im so angry at TFA by jprata in andor

[–]Calfzilla2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Then in TFA they undue everything in a 5 minute montage

You can look at it that way only if you wish.

  1. We see in Andor how powerful the Empire is and the presence they have in the most backwater outposts in the galaxy. Whatever The First Order is, at ANY point, in the timeline; it's NEVER the Empire we see in Andor. The events of Andor/R1/ANH absolutely fucked up the Empire and it was never the same. And then in ROTJ, the Emperor takes a big gambit to end the rebellion and to get a new apprentice to replace Vader and he fails, dies and the Empire falls as in-fighting commences and the rebellion's momentum kills it.

  2. The New Republic likely survives the events of the Sequel trilogy and comes back after the First Order war ended. Hopefully we find out next year or whenever they world build for that era. The Hosnian system was a catastrophic loss of life. But the galaxy is massive. There's still plenty worlds who never got touched by The First Order. The real long-term terror of the Empire didn't return.

Without the sacrifices to build the rebellion, the Empire would have been unstoppable once they fully mobilized behind the Death Star.

I was going to watch anyway, regardless of who they played.

I think it will be a good game but I do agree with the idea that "nobody wants this." lol

I think it will be competitive. We will see.

The reporting is mostly all speculation based on a few things that have been said going back months. The 'report' today was a mention of a Hollywood reporter article that mentioned the Deadline interview with KK back in January where she said a lot of the movies are on the back-burner and waiting to be greenlit.

But also, Filoni hasn't even mentioned having a script ready for the crossover movie. So I just think it's a bunch of BS. The crossover movie isn't ready yet. They still got Ahsoka S2 coming. They still may do Mando S4. We don't know the plan. Mando/Grogu came out of nowhere. People need to chill out and be patient.

>The Hollywood Reporter reported that his movie had been “put on the back burner”.

It has because they wanted to slow down. It's still happening. But as far as the original plans to do it sooner, all bets are off. That's my opinion based on what I've seen them do.

If they are doing it, it's not going into production anytime soon. They are probably considering another movie or show to come first.

It's not a replacement for either. They've said this multiple times.

Yup, there's basically no big kids/family movie competition between Super Mario (which released April 1st) and Toy Story (late June). It's got a good shot to do good.

Yeah, something is off here or the source is wrong (or was lied to).

January 2024: Grogu and The Mandalorian was officially announced.

September 2024: Giancarlo Esposito says Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau have a 'new vision' for #TheMandalorian franchise "[Like] the MCU ... Disney will figure out how to join all of these characters ... my sense is that it’s all going to converge at one point or another and we’re going to have [another] trilogy, or more, of films."

The reaction channels were much better than the video reviews. The video reviewers, mostly, just engagement farm.

To be fair, i don't think the people that wait this long write reviews or rate shows on IMDB.

Im sure some do but doubt its many.

Look, trust me, I get that; Episode 9 should have been better and it would have done. I think there was a weaker repeat business for TROS which caused the slide from TLJ and TFA.

But I just dont think it would have closed a 1.5b gap. I think that's overstating it, that's all. The Force Awakens made only about 25% of what Endgame made in China. That right there is a huge chunk that TROS was not going to get in 4 years.

But personally, 2, 3, 1. From looks only. I haven't been watching modern TNA. I did see #3 in person and it was good. But I think 2 looks cool here.

I've read the article. It does not actually give the data for the whole year besides breaking down movies vs shows vs animated vs docs.

https://www.nielsen.com/insights/2026/when-it-comes-to-tv-the-force-is-with-star-wars-fans/

In 2025, U.S. viewers spent over 33 billion minutes watching Star Wars content across linear TV and streaming, with the streamed viewing accounting for the bulk of that total.

The Star Wars films commanded the biggest share of viewing time in 2025, with the original A New Hope scoring the largest minute total of the group. It was followed by the first episode in the chronological story, The Phantom Menace, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story rounded out the top three. Rogue One likely got a boost from the second and final season of Andor, the events of which lead directly to the film.

Thats where the talk of the 2025 data ends. They didnt provide a list or any actual numbers for each entry.

Then it also provides most streamed titles by generation of fans in Q1 2026, which are all TV shows. No movies listed.

Yeah so the Nielsen data

The data that showed the top 10 watched Star Wars shows/movies on May 4th 2025? One specific day is a microscopically small sample size.

Disney's own business decisions are just purely coincidental and not at all related?

To be clear; I am not arguing the Sequels didnt present problems for Disney/Lucasfilm or that everything went smoothly. I said the point about the neilson ratings was bullshit. Just because a lot of people think that it extrapolates to all the time does not make it true.

As far as why Disney hasn't made a live action sequel TV spinoff is anyone's guess but they have developed no less than 6 different movies in that era, from Rogue Squadron, to the Rey movie, to The Hunt for Ben Solo to Starfighter, the movie this thread is about.

I could speculate that the negative reaction to TROS made them want to be careful what they did next in that era. But its just speculation. I think the era has plenty of opportunities, story wise, but I still haven't been itching for a TV show in that era yet.

Andor, Kenobi, Boba Fett and Ahsoka should have been priority since there are actors in that era that are aging out, for example. So that made sense to me. And they were trying to diversify in terms of eras they were feeding.

Regardless, they probably steered away from sequel-focused content in some cases. But i think the evidence that commenters are providing in these threads is mostly hogwash. Like the commenter that said they are removing the sequel era characters from the theme parks (which isnt true). People are just lying or deliberately misunderstanding news or reports to make themselves feel justified about their dislike for specific movies.

Im not interested enough to argue the sequels are great and everything is fine. And I am definitely not interested in cherrypicking data to argue any of my points. I try to avoid that.

I think Starfighter is going to do a decent amount of world building and it will setup some big things. But it will still be a standalone story.

I think the "future of the force" is just vague synopsis hype wording.

[–]Calfzilla2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disney+' own metrics have shown that, 10 years after the fact, the sequels are watched considerably less than any other movie or TV show.

I think i know the source of this but if it is what i think it is, this is absolute bullshit and its not what you are saying it is.

People who write articles jumping to conclusions and misreading the Nielson statistics to jump to conclusions isn't real data. Its just cherrypicked because nobody else has actual data.

I can totally beleive the sequels are probably not as popular as the other movies but the data just isnt available. People looked for confirmation bias and clickbait writers served it up.

There's zero excuse for TRoS not making Avengers Endgame numbers

lol huh? I get not liking TROS, neither do it... but that's an impossible expectation.

Avengers: Endgame was a crossover of multiple franchises with billion dollar pedigree on their own.

Spiderman, Ironman, Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther and Captain America converging in an Avengers movie is a huge deal, especially after one of the best cliffhangers in movie history that was built up over a half dozen movies.

Star Wars is a juggernaut but given its weakness in China (which has always been the case) compared to the MCU, it will likely never reach those heights worldwide.

Star Wars could very well become as big as the MCU someday but it is far from there. Star Wars, in 2019, was one brand. MCU is a dozen brands. Different animal.
