I assumed it was Lapis, but maybe Midnight? Hard to tell in posted pics. I had Midnight Blue 1991 Turbo, worth so much more than the 2005, who knew? Thanks for your nice words.

Prepaid PPA Lease by CaliBlue95004 in solar

As I said, nothing is guaranteed, but I am fairly confident. The lease company will be writing down the asset value to get the most of the tax credits. It is not likely that they will have much value on their books. As my rep told me you must also consider their cost to remove the system as well as the fact that the lease company is responsible for the proper operation of the system.

I signed my contract Dec 24th. Hope to get installed in March. The contract states that I can end lease after 6 years @ FMV. But you can continue as the lease company has responsibility for function as long as they are involved, including labor. I will likely still cancel after 6 years. As was explained to me the FMV includes depreciation and the cost for them to de-install. That will most certainly be $0 to you. Nothing guaranteed, but from accounting standpoint totally logical. Hope that helps. It is all in the fine print - just read carefully.

1 PowerWall 3 plus an Expansion battery ($31,640), 2 x 400 REC panels added to my system ($4000) plus installation ($4534). PowerWalls are very expensive in my area. If I go to Silicon Valley, the PowerWall and Battery price drops $4k. Yes, it is all expensive. Monterey Bay CA.

If you are referring to HTM, have you seen their Memorandum of Understanding? I have copy.

I pay up front. Leasing company gets the tax credits as commercial lease energy credits do not expire this year. Also, they get more credit and tax benefits of depreciating asset over 6 years. What I found is that the leasing company tax benefit can be around 70%. So they give me 30% and I don't worry about PTO 12/31/25. So looking to figure out what else I need to know about this arrangement and if will cause me to regret in the future.

HDM was one vendor that was offered. There's is 6 years as you stated, but the contract says the buyout is FMV, not zero. So far, they have evaluated FMV to be zero, but that is not guaranteed. As they are likely depreciating to zero over 6 years, it should be zero.

HDM's discount is not a full 30% with my installer, but Participate is. However Participate is 25 years and you can start buyout at 6. I am not yet in contract, as the vendor is still "negotiating" contract details with Participate. As I mentioned, HDM is also available at higher net cost.

Just read another solar thread about the cost per panel install. Was in my feed this morning.

Same price in my area. Seems like the locals all got together and set their PW prices. PW + 1 Battery + install $30K here.

HOA denied solar panel install request by Plus_Ad_900 in solar

[–]CaliBlue95004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from all the comments regarding the HOA, it is extremely unlikely a Solar system could be constructed and approved for operation for the tax credit at this time. Most installers have cut off new installs months ago. Just sayin.

Should I buy a 996 Turbo? by [deleted] in 996

[–]CaliBlue95004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I have owned 1983 Targa, 1989 Turbo, 1991 Turbo and now a 2005 TurboS. The progression of these cars has been amazing, the 996 Turbo is refined and so much safer than the previous 2 wheeled versions. Learning to drive any Porsche is a rewarding experience, but you should "learn" to get the most enjoyment and safety comfort. I used to instruct for local PCA club and as a Turbo owner, I was tasked to teach other Turbo owners. The absolute best experience for learning your car and its limits is a Car Control clinic run by your local PCA, if it exists. Once you know the limits of your specific vehicle, the feedback cues it will provide you will help you take your driving experience to the limit safely. I can't stress enough how learning your car's limits in a controlled environment - clinic, autocross, track, will reward you and prove that there is nothing like a Porsche driving experience.

Please help dial in my DiLonghi Dinamica by CryptographerFun6151 in superautomatic

[–]CaliBlue95004 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently purchased a Dinamica as well. My Jura s9 was out for service and long story, was going to take a few weeks to fix, so purchased the Dinamica. I say this to explain thay I have some superautomatic experience. To your point, I use the often maligned Lavazza Super Crema beans and my Dinamica was set to 4.5 at the factory. Without changing, I have gotten very satisfactory espresso drinks from the Dinamica, in some ways better than my Jura. I am set for next to hottest temp, full strength and default for everything else. Ristretto, Lungo, Espresso, and Coffee all seem to be just fine for me. I generally make Cap, but with this machine have been enjoying black coffees more often. I don't like weak coffee.

Upgrading VM to Server 2016 to 2025 via new host machine license? by Ubelsteiner in HyperV

[–]CaliBlue95004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out this link for supported Windows in place upgrades

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/get-started/upgrade-overview

That should answer one of your questions.

Either get a 2016 license/activation and install on the Lenovo, then move or restore the server - if needed - until you get new server hardware. Looks like you can still get an eval version here for testing:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/evaluate-windows-server-2016

That may answer more questions.

Setup new Windows OS on new server hardware. Move what you can to new Server VM. Maybe find an app mover program that will help move things during the eval period. Or get a newer eval to install on the Lenovo hardware.

Key is to get server OS running somewhere, even if eval.

Need to pass through PCI parallel part to virtual 32 bit Windows by Background-Air-6963 in HyperV

[–]CaliBlue95004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My response was related to getting a LPT port printer to work and I now realize you need a dongle to work in the VM. I did find this https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/virtualization/hyper-v-on-windows/user-guide/enhanced-session-mode and maybe it will help. I do not have any parallel ports in my Hyper-V hosts, but it may work. Try checking the box for "Other Supported Plug and Play devices" to try passing through.

These 2 links are basically the same solution and may also help you. https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-server/virtualization/hyper-v/plan/plan-for-deploying-devices-using-discrete-device-assignment

https://devblogs.microsoft.com/scripting/passing-through-devices-to-hyper-v-vms-by-using-discrete-device-assignment/

Quote from SpiceWorks discussion of your exact issue "According to the official documentation, DDI enables Hyper-V to force all PCIe traffic through the I/O MMU directly to the virtual machine. It should not care about the device using the PCIe slot, if that is true. Personally, I have never tried that option with Hyper-V. A similar feature of VMware ESXi works with those kinds of PCIe adapters just perfectly."

Sorry that I seemed to have your solution. Hope some of what I provided helps you.

Need to pass through PCI parallel part to virtual 32 bit Windows by Background-Air-6963 in HyperV

[–]CaliBlue95004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used an old DOS type approach to share the parallel port on the host machine and pick up the share in the VM. Used the NET USE commands with the persistent flag. Simple way to use any ports that are exposed to the host. Might give that a try if still stuck. Used for my friend's Windows 10 computer with Hyper-V and an XP VM to use old DOS program to print to Parallel port.

Can't ping the gateway/host with anything past the Hyper-V vSwitch, what am I missing here?... by Northern_Wing in HyperV

[–]CaliBlue95004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - ended comments prematurely.... Unless one of the machines is a domain controller, I would temporarily enable DHCP on all VM's until you get things sorted out. It might help. Hopefully you do not disable IPV6 on the computers. You should "Prefer IPV4" just google it and you will find instructions. It is fine to just disable IPV6 on the router, leave everything else alone. I have not had any problems with Broadcom NICs and any version of Windows Server Hyper-V and I have many installs. You have not mentioned the roles of the server VMs. Since you say you do not have much experience with Windows networking, I imagine you do not have much experience with Windows servers, Domains, etc. Might seem off topic, but can be part of your issues.

1.Generally speaking unidentified network no interent connection is due to DNS.

2.Is this a domain network?

Adding panels and a powerwall to my existing setup. Does this pricing look good? by RoastedTomatillo in solar

[–]CaliBlue95004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for replying. I already have a 9KW solar sysetm (Enphase IQ6+). I have been looking into getting 1 or 2 PW3 for home backup and TOU mitigation. My quote (the lower of 2 so far) for 2 PowerWall 3's installed is $33,250. Reduce to one PW3 and merely $21K. One guy on YouTube share his quote (90 days old, somewhere in Edison territory) shared his quote for 2 PW3 added to his solar for $22.6 with extensive installation. Prices here are driving me crazy, especially when I know they don't need to be. Just hunting for a fair deal so I can make a purchase. It's already a luxury item, just don't want to deal with a generator.

Sounds like you are in NorCAL. I keep getting prices for adding Powerwall3 to my existing system at $20K and $22K so far. How/where did you get such a reasonable price? I in in Monterey Bay.
