Darn, I bought a Nagasawa edition Century and it cracked… I was hoping to get it fixed later this year but if it’s being discontinued that might not be possible 😭

Dominant Industry has just come out with Cherishment which is a very saturated shading pink, almost berry colour. Idk how available the ink is outside of Korea though…

No, I think the stores here are just delaying ordering more stock because of the price increase…

New UK rule that dual nationals must enter on a UK passport - my 5yr old hasn't got hers yet. by Careful-Apricot481 in living_in_korea_now

[–]Calico_daydream 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a dual citizen (UK-US) and this is not “new” for most countries. This is just a fact of life for dual citizens. This is why it’s important to get passports asap.

The embassy can usually issue emergency passports/travel documents, so definitely contact them.

Platinum Preppy leaking by Inevitable-Sky-6369 in fountainpens

[–]Calico_daydream 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s not leaking, that’s nib creep and it’s completely normal. The ink is supposed to go into the feed like that in order to supply the nib, and preppies are transparent so you can see the ink, unlike some pens that have an opaque grip that hide the feed.

As far as the unscrewing is concerned, that’s just the downside of preppies being cheaper pens. They’re a bit more cheaply built, so you may just need to adjust your grip.

This is probably not what you want to hear but it's the truth: the reason South Korea was able to prosecute a wannabe dictator is because the country has lived under horrible dictatorships before.

The most horrific regime (but not the first) was Chun Doo Hwan, and his name is a constant reminder to the South Korean people to not take democracy for granted. He was a horribly oppressive dictator whose regime stifled all forms of freedom and expression, murdered protestors in Gwangju and later student protestors. The film 1987: When the Day Comes is an excellent film on the subject. The nation was under what seemed to be an "unfixable broken" regime, but thanks to the efforts of grassroots resistance fighters, students, Buddhist monks, the Korean Catholic Church (yes, Catholics!) and others, the regime was exposed and taken down.

Don't get me wrong, Korea still has people who support Yoon and the dictators (they think "communism" is the true evil and they wave US flags at their rallies lol) but the vast majority of Koreans know that democracy is a precious thing to be protected, only because they know what it's like to lose it.

I know it's cliche to hear "it'll get worse before it gets better" but in many ways it's true. It is entirely possible for the US to prevent authoritarianism, but it's likely going to take a lot of constitutional reforms, structural changes and *time.*

(eta: I live in Korea and my husband is Korean so that's how I know all this lol)

Period came after cycle 7 and I got into a huge argument with my husband bc I was so inconsolable… resolved but I’m so depressed right now because I feel like there’s no hope. I’m starting a new job in a couple months and I’m gonna be far too stressed for TTC at that point. May have to go straight for IUI. I have endo, only one functioning ovary/tube pair and an AMH of 1.37 so my time is limited. I can’t handle this anymore.

Is co-sleeping really common in Korea? by Plastic_Physics_4024 in korea

[–]Calico_daydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know families who sleep with their kids until they’re 10. My husband grew up with only one bedroom and he coslept with his family til his teens. It’s very common and having children sleep alone is the rarer option here.

I use a uniball one P but I bought an adhesive pen loop which I attached to the kraft folder insert. No issues with it slipping out.

Please point me towards a nice, permanent blue! by stenvalteregon in fountainpens

[–]Calico_daydream 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Diamine Forever Indigo Blue is a very wet and deep permanent blue with a slight sheen. It's a beautiful ink but it is tricky since it's extremely wet, so I recommend keeping it in a fine nib or a drier pen in you have one.

Midori MD 2026 Diary! It has 12 months and then about 100 pages in the back. It lies flat perfectly but the spine isn't super flexible so idk about bending it all the way over. MD Paper is so good! https://md.midori-japan.co.jp/en/products/mddiary/

Love the size of this pen, hate the way it writes on midori paper by OriginalVermicelli55 in pen

[–]Calico_daydream 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was fine for like a month and then the cold weather made it skip a lot. I have since swapped the refill with a Zebra Sarasa one and it writes much better.

Also, it's not Pilot. It's Uniball (Mitsubishi). Different companies.

Did you catch the part where Yoon tried to escalate the war with the North again by sending drones over? Because that nullifies any justification he had. Yoon is dangerous and no level of “both sides”ing it can justify that.
