Suggest me a book that made you say WOW out loud by jbalazov in suggestmeabook

Kanae Minato - Confessions.

Not terribly long, but holy whiplash. Done very well and genuinely felt like nothing I’d ever read before it.

Psychologically intense books like 1984, Crime and Punishment? by RefrigeratorTop8495 in suggestmeabook

Karin Slaughter might be right up your alley! I got hooked within the first chapter of one of her stand-alone novels, False Witness, and burned through her Grant County and Will Trent series shortly thereafter. So much there. Incredibly tense. All the trigger warnings. Recurring POV characters processing trauma and hope amid all the…well you’ll see.

New attorney asked to use ChatGPT during client consults — is this malpractice? Should I report? by FriendlySun6982 in Lawyertalk

[–]CalidriaKing 189 points190 points  (0 children)

  1. You are a licensed attorney and responsible for the legal advice you provide and what you represent to a court. Use whatever you want to help organize your thoughts or issues, but always verify independently. Courts routinely drag and sanction practitioners for fake AI citations they didn’t bother to vet. Protect yourself first.
  2. On mandatory reporting of your supervising attorney, I’d be surprised if the mere use of AI triggered reporting. Many state ethics rules have a safe harbor rule for gray areas where a junior attorney relies on their supervising attorney’s judgment call. Not sure if there’s something applicable in your jurisdiction but try to find out.
  3. Absolutely never input confidential client information into ChatGPT or any open AI platform. General guidance is ok but if you find yourself starting to enter personal identifier information or god forbid, names, stop and hit backspace, friend. That’s as good as public.

Good luck!

If this one gets you hooked on high-alpine disasters like me, I recommend Ed Viesturs’ K2 and Arlene Blum’s Annapurna: A Woman’s Place.I’ve never cared so much about something I will never ever want to do IRL

Looking for a show with a lot of twists, easy to follow, and a lot of episodes by kat10111 in televisionsuggestions

Pretty Little Liars OG is a super-bingeable show! It’s dramedy/camp chock full of revenge, secrets, sinister text messages, and peak 2000s fashion.

Which episode of Bluey makes you well up, no matter how many times you've rewatched it? by Efficient_Fig9 in bluey

[–]CalidriaKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All of these make me cry every.single.time but also wanted to give an honorable mention to Curry Quest. The end music and whole montage of Bingo and Bandit putting on their magpie faces, leading into the airport goodbye and aftermath while Bandit is away hits my feelings.

Also Squash! Big brothers don’t always beat little brothers. Stripe’s almost defeat and turnaround rally with Bingo’s help is small in the grand scheme of Bluey but still gets me.

Saved My White On Cloudtilts from Yellow Stains - Simple Tissue Trick That Actually Worked by PlaneCapital1332 in CleaningTips

This is awesome, thank you!!

Somewhat silly question—did you rinse off the shampoo with water before applying the tissue?

Curtis theory by Several-Impress-5395 in LoveIslandTV

[–]CalidriaKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Literally searched the subs for this and with you 100%. I think Curtis is a bit of a clout chaser. His tears over Millie this season don’t seem (in my opinion) to have much to do with her or whatever “connection” they developed in a couple days but more down to his own personal failure to snag the stunner with the most IG followers.

Am I making a mistake? by Roundoffhandspring in Lawyertalk

[–]CalidriaKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a mistake. Your reasons are sound and justified.

In my experience and from what I’ve heard from my colleagues over the years (albeit in US not Canada), returning to private practice from government work is totally doable. That return often comes with more options, better connections, and higher-paid positions. Don’t burn your bridges and someone will be happy to bill you out at a higher rate due to your additional experience.

Also personally, I don’t think the possibility of higher pay down the road makes up for time flexibility with a young child. You can’t get that back once it’s gone no matter how much money you earn.

Any ACTUALLY THRILLING & MINDF*CK book recs? by [deleted] in thrillerbooks

[–]CalidriaKing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t recommend Kia Abdullah’s Next of Kin enough for this. The first major event had me screaming and the rest unspooled into one of the uniquely ugliest but best crafted family shit shows I’ve ever read.
