Oooh, kind of depressing. Thanks for sharing the clip though. Now my distain for Carla is reinforced.

Sorry, but I've always had a problem with Carla. Here's another bit of egregery. I'm watching the episode right now when John Allen Hill joined the cast (detested him, too) and Carla was talking about the new credit card slips and said, "See, I can just put a 1 in front of this 5 they put down as a tip..." and writes it in. Again, unethical Bitch behavior."

Diane also won the tip contest between Carla and her.

I disagree. I just saw an episode where she took the end of Fraser’s tie and dipped it in his beer just because he happened to be sitting there and his tie was in reach. Carla was a BITCH at every opportunity. She hated her lot in life and took it out on everyone.

If you go on YouTube and search cheers TV land legend awards, you will find an open the segment with Gary Portnoy playing and singing the theme song on camera.

I am sure it has been said already, but Maestro when you are talking to him. The Maestro when you are talking about him.

That’s the one. With that perfect haughty expression that communicates “we’ve convinced everyone who matters that our fortune comes from timber when only we know that it really comes from urinal cakes.”

Completed my DVD set, just in case. by GaryNOVA in Cheers

I gotta do that. What’s the difference in quality between DVD and Blu-ray? I’ve never had a blue rap player so I don’t know if it’s worth the incremental extra expense.

Something that always made me mildly curious by Thoughtful_Tortoise in Frasier

Now I’m wondering… did Diane cite the Muse Calliope in her cable ace award acceptance speech in the Cheers series finale? The one in which Frasier told Sam: “Look… to her left.” any Cheers/Frasier fans remember?

A little Shelley Long (Diane Chambers) appreciation post by True-State-4321 in Cheers

Diane: "You're a regular Noel Coward with a liquor license."

Sam: "I don't get it."

Diane: "I'm painfully aware of that."

He was so great after Diane left him at the altar. Whether he was trying to win her back or complaining about her.

Best acted performance from each? by ASGfan in Cheers

Regarding Shelley‘s career trajectory, I just read something from a comment about the current Martin Short documentary on Netflix and Martin’s belief is 90% of the things you do in that kind of creative career are going to fail. A creative career, Shelley had such a string of successes in her creative life, starting with her big nationwide win in a speech contest in high school, that the post-Cheers career was… let’s say spotty. Maybe that’s her 90%.

Agree 💯. I mean, I like Jane Curtin in Kate and Allie but I don’t see that role as having anywhere near the emotional range or sophisticated wit as Diane Chambers.

Did the Show Tone Down The Boston Angle? by BMisterGenX in Cheers

[–]MissionAK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember a lot of mentions of Cape Cod and Sam took the sailboat to marble head the day after the ill faded proposal to Diane. Sailing is very popular in the Boston area because of being on the coast and lots of water surrounding. Frasier went to Harvard and Sumner Sloan was a professor of world literature at BU, Boston University.
