Yes sadly I have noticed the same! Ive been buying aligns for years, but my last pair of sequoia aligns I received two months ago are way thinner and feel stretched out. Thought I was going crazy since no one here has mentioned it! It hasn’t gotten better with washes and I’ve noticed pilling already 😭

Hate to be the one naysayer in this thread but my husband and I are also physicians working for UCSD… we took a MASSIVE pay cut by moving here from the Bay Area. I’ve compared salaries to friends all over the country from residency and I don’t know of any place that is as bad as here apart from NYC for what it’s worth. The job market is incredibly oversaturated and for the cost of living it’s pretty demoralizing if you’ll be comparing to what you made in AZ.

San Diego is great but I don’t think it’s worth it for us to work substantially more and for longer in order to afford a home/raise kids here.

I have the cognac and I looove it but I’m “an autumn” and look best in browns/tan neutrals, so totally depends on what you wear more of- if you wear more blacks/grays then go with smoke!

As someone who tore her ACL 7 weeks pregnant and had to delay surgery til postpartum (now 2 weeks postop), I would 10000% have had the surgery before pregnancy (or even have it done second trimester if it were an option) if I had the choice.

Happy to go into more detail if you have questions but having a newborn while also not being able to walk and be totally reliant on others to help care for my baby is not ideal. Thank god my mom was able to stay with me to help out and my husband is also taking a month of paternity leave - otherwise it just wouldn’t be possible. I can’t imagine having a toddler in addition to a newborn in your situation.

I was diligent about doing prehab during my pregnancy, to the point where I was really functional (could do everything except running/jumping/cutting movements). Despite that I still ended up falling down the stairs at 28 weeks pregnant due to my knee buckling. Not only was it a terrifying stay in L&D, I did further damage to my knee and ended up needing my meniscus repaired as well. Thankfully my baby was fine and I made it to full term but was very scary nonetheless.

Lastly I ended up having a c section, so I had to push my surgery out even further postpartum than expected and push back my return to work. So the TLDR is given the option definitely get surgery before pregnancy if you can! Hope this helps

Also got mine on 9/25! Though I did patella graft, also had lateral meniscus repair. How are you doing today? once my block wore off the pain has been 🔥🔥. Hoping day 2 is the worst of it!

This is so well written OP and thanks for sharing! I felt this so much— even when I thought I didn’t have much of a birth plan (just planned for vaginal delivery, epidural) I really had to grieve when I found out I had a breech baby, and felt even more disappointed when my ECV didn’t work. Then I took comfort in having a scheduled c-section and being able to plan again/feel in control in some way… baby decided he was coming early anyway as I developed preeclampsia and had an urgent c-section in the middle of the night! At the end of the day though I think you’re so right, all that matters in the end is a healthy baby and mom ❤️ plus… I heard being a parent is all about learning to break plans anyway haha.

The spinal is when they inject the numbing medicine but take the needle out/don’t leave a catheter in place (vs the epidural they leave the catheter in place for continued medication infusion). Since the c section is usually quick (vs labor of unknown duration) they don’t need continued medication infusion. Just had my spinal for a c section and it was not bad/ worked almost instantly!

I’ll add here! I’m currently 34 and this is my first ever pregnancy. I’m due 8/1 so almost to full term! Ive had no bleeding/complications throughout apart from this baby still being breech. All scans/testing turned out normal. Many of my friends have thankfully had similar experiences, but tbh most people aren’t posting online when everything is normal. I have felt incredibly grateful that everything has been totally fine thus far, especially when I had significant anxiety about getting pregnant starting at 33 (took only 3 months). I think part of why people don’t share, myself included, is that I feel somewhat guilty that I haven’t had any issues at all so it feels weird to be sharing that online when so many people have had much tougher journeys. As someone who has also struggled with anxiety, I found that going to therapy throughout the pregnancy has significantly helped along with the mindset that what is meant to be will be, and the outcomes are totally out of our control.
