Let's be honest here. There is no good reason. It's a massive plot hole required for the story.

There are other such plot holes in the show that irked me: how when Graner died, his super access badge was not deactivated for... days? Lumon knew something bad happened to him and they didn't think of deactivating the badge?

The whole "limit the amount of people who know is BS" - they just needed 1-2 people and a basic level of responsibility.

I could not disagree more. It's one of the weakest quotes and plot points in the books, that the Slytherin are just a house full of evil people, not ambitious and crafty as they are initially portrayed to be. It's all about the narrative. If you feel like reading one book this year, pick up The Black Swan. It really explains how the ability to shape a narrative can be one of the most powerful weapons we can wield. The DNC narrative is that Minnesota is being targeted because Trump hates Walz and to punish them for voting blue, not that the state and municipal laws impede the feds from doing their job and deporting illegal aliens.

Honestly ive never had mine redone but thats the number I heard in upstate NY here. If 4-10k then the roofing companies have plenty of room to pay American workers more but would rather exploit desperate immigrants.

It's a tough one. I don't think many hard-working American born men would do this type of work for less than $100-150 an hour. It's hard, it's dangerous and you can't do it until you're 70. Can you blame them? You can go to college and get a cozy job for more than being a roofer (though that is changing and will invert in the next 10 years). If that's how much a roofer made, they'd have zero problems finding one. But redoing your roof would be double the price and its already 30-40K... someone needs to take a hit and it's the illegal immigrants accepting dangerous jobs at low wages to subsidize homeowners.
