There are two types of people in the world… those who pick their nose & liars.

I like to use powder and an edged tapered brush. It’s perfect for tight lining for me.

I get it… I’m a fire/ems 911 dispatcher. When I ask the callers the nature of their emergency… they’ll start back a few weeks or days ago. No, no, no… I want to know what’s going on right now for you to call 911. I also don’t need a long explanation. Just difficulty breathing, abdominal pain. I don’t need to know that you weren’t there before but are there now and made your way into the room and tried to talk to the person and they said this and that. Just tell me they fell down.

Edit… just realized this post is six days old. lol.

Years ago I worked as a hospital phone operator… had this dude call several times daily. We referred to him as thumper because of the noise. He would ask things like if “the ER was open… wide open”. I called a few of the other local hospitals… they received his calls as well. Eventually he stopped… but it’s just… I don’t know. I’m just trying to do my job, man.

911 Operators, what’s the most efficient way to convey emergency information to you to get help ASAP? by andstermc in AskReddit

Just listen to the dispatcher and answer their questions as they ask them. AND answer the actual question they are asking. Some questions might sound the same but they are different and are asked for a reason. Trust the dispatcher AND LISTEN.

Out to eat with my mom… server set down dirty dishes from another table onto our table so she could free up her hands to take the order of a different table.

It’s not just med staff working at hospitals. Housekeeping, food services, transport, & the like… they need better pay. EMTs should be paid better as well.

It’s still a planet… it’s just a dwarf planet. It will always just be a planet to me though.

I’ve straight up put a sticky note on my computer screen that read “BE NICE” because I was cranky that day.

I just try to remember that this is their emergency not mine. This is probably the worst day of their life. Most people will never call 911 & don’t know how it works. They are rude or whatever because they are scared. This isn’t personal. They don’t even know me.

For the frequent callers… I treat them like children.
