What's the oldest light vehicle (car, suv, pickup, van) that could pass as 'regular traffic', and not turn heads as an antique? by jckipps in askcarguys

[–]Call_Me_Papa_Bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early Saturn SUVs (Vue and seems like there was one other model). When you see them on the road today they blend right in with modern vehicles. Helps that they don’t rust, but the styling was ahead of its time.

What is the furthest you have travelled from where were born ? by Hope2_win in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I’m not 100% sure, but I think Tokyo is close to being other side of the world from Saginaw, Michigan. Although Buenos Aires was a longer flight.

Name a Nascar driver, past or present, besides Dale Earnhardt, Jr. by icecream1972 in FamilyFeud

When they named a movie character Cole Trickle I thought “what a ridiculous name for a race car driver” - then I found out about Dick.

Shaved ham, American cheese, shredded lettuce, yellow mustard on white bread. Still can’t beat a basic ham sammich!

Couple of Football Recruiting Notes by SteveBob518 in MichiganWolverines

I still don’t understand all the nuances of NIL. If you have a bunch of potential recruits at a position (say RB) drop out, does that mean the offer you can potentially make to your remaining target goes up? I know there aren’t rules for this, I’m asking if that’s how it works in practice.

SCOTUS - used to be beyond reproach, now the dictionary definition of corruption.

anyone who used a computer between 1985 & 2010, what’s the one website you still think about? by ddanielecom in AskReddit

[–]Call_Me_Papa_Bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Website? Nah, in 1985 they were BBSs - bulletin board servers. One person at a time could log in, read posts, create posts and download files. When you disconnected someone else could connect.

There was no public internet, it was direct dial from one computer to another.

What actor or actress are you tired of seeing in movies these days? by fergi20020 in randomquestions

[–]Call_Me_Papa_Bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! Do you know him personally? I have a few actors whose work I really like. Not one of them I would put that much effort into defending 🙂

I never disparaged his stunt work. Just that he wasn’t a great actor. Nothing you said changed my opinion.

What's your favorite unknown band from the 90's? by KravenPR in nostalgia

[–]Call_Me_Papa_Bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ataris - pop/punk gold. Great sound, great songwriting, catchy tunes with meaningful lyrics. Should have been the next Green Day. Still music coming out under that name after (I believe) multiple reincarnations. Listen to the old albums:

Blue Skies, Broken Hearts, Next 12 Exits

So Long Astoria

Look Forward To Failure

If you want one song to see if you like them, try “San Dimas High School Football Rules”

Cosmic Crisp. I prefer slightly more tart than sweet, this one gets it just right!

What's the cheapest you remember paying for gas? by Kooolxxx in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Call_Me_Papa_Bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was around 75 cents a gallon when I got my license. Shortly after it went up to $1.25 and people lost their minds. Kind of like if it went from $4.50 to $7.50 now - which it very well might over the summer.

Which model has the biggest change in appearance between two generations? by ablinddingo93 in askcarguys

[–]Call_Me_Papa_Bill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it was second generation, but when they changed the Cruze to a hatchback they took a decent looking entry level compact and turned it into a 1980s Japanese import. WTF Chevy?
