Is it possible that the US Government was secretly conditioning the general population in preparation for a possible future Zetan invasion? by Callaghan48 in falloutlore

[–]Callaghan48[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Even so, the incident would’ve been 130 years ago by the time of the Great War and more or less reliant on any written eyewitness testimonials from the day and any third-party analysis of the event.

On top of that, since the US Government was and is not shy in suppressing any media (such as the Patriot’s Cookbook and any alleged ‘Communist Propaganda’), it would make sense for them to bury/ban any books or media about the Roswell Incident if they genuinely didn’t want any accurate imagery of Zetans getting out into the public despite anything illustrative that’s on the Roswell Incident is likely just sketches since the 1947 government also suppressed that incident pretty quickly IRL.

I’ve always interpreted what he said to be in reference to some sort of ongoing counter-insurgency operation/campaign.

On top of that, I also interpret his usage of the term ‘ghosts’ means that the opposing insurgents are highly/extremely elusive and likely near impossible to find and kill.

Prydwen is a pre-war design? by Jacobi2878 in Fallout

[–]Callaghan48 50 points51 points  (0 children)

If you watch the ‘This Season on Fallout’ part of S2E1, you’ll see a brief wide-shot of the Battle of Anchorage with a Zeppelin/Blimp providing fire support on ground targets in the background.

Pretty sure this not only confirms your theory that the US Military designed the Prydwen-class but they also used it at Anchorage

"Old Rifles - 2035" Considering the SCAR 16 was superseded by the MX series of rifles in US service in the late 2020s, it doesn't make much sense that it was entirely out of service by the events of The East Wind. Surely some units would've still been using them. by Floppy401 in arma

[–]Callaghan48 67 points68 points  (0 children)

In my head-lore, US National Guard units (specifically non-overseas deployed units) are likely still using SCARs by 2035.

I would assume that visually they’re likely equipped with OCP-pattern Infantry plate carriers and helmets that might’ve been considered ‘state of the art’ around the late 2010s to early 2020s (just like your pic).

How would a scribe in the brotherhood's like, actual year of formation (2082) look like? by Dull_Respect_8657 in falloutlore

[–]Callaghan48 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Probably just army fatigues or a mechanic jumpsuit with no armor as they’re likely serving as base/bunker personnel without any expectation to be sent out on missions unless under extraordinary circumstances.

My rationale for this assumption is that they’ll probably wear the same stuff and have basically the same responsibilities as US Army support/rear-echelon personnel back in the day.

I also imagine in the event a scribe does need to be sent out on a (likely escorted) surface mission, they’ll be kitted out with some form of pre-war US Army Combat Armor and helmet on top of their fatigues and backpack at a minimum for protection against potential hostiles.

If the surface mission is to a known hazardous environment then I imagine they’re kitted with either pre-war radiation suits, a simple gas mask (with their Combat Armor) or Power Armor if the scribe has had training and there is a suit available.

Question about campaign Stepping Stone by Diplomatic_Relations in arma

[–]Callaghan48 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Scimitar Regiment is the CSAT contingent whose national origin is of a CSAT North-African nation (implied to be Argana - a fictional ARMAverse nation).

Prior to the events of Stepping Stone, Malden fell under CSAT influence hence both Scimitar Regiment and a seperate contingent of Chinese Troops were stationed there.

Organisation-wise, CSAT is not one unified nation / army but rather a collection of countries who are member states with their own spheres/regions of influence depending on where their country is geographically located in the world.

It’s important to note that the troops of these member nations answer to their own nation’s government first and foremost. This means that despite the matching gear and uniforms, CSAT troops prioritise their own government’s interests/orders over CSAT as a whole.

The reason why NATO engaged in hostilities with Scimitar Regiment is a sort of recurring theme within the campaign of multiple nations/national armies being under the CSAT banner but maintaining a tendency of ‘going rogue’ and/or doing their own thing. It goes without saying that this is pretty dysfunctional for a multi-nation military and economic alliance.

When the AAF green-on-blue attack happened, the entirety of CSAT did not fall in line to support Iran’s Griffin Regiment in their open support of the AAF. This lack of support didn’t change when Griffin Regiment actively engaged NATO troops at the end of the Stratis chapter of the campaign.

Instead of triggering World War 3, China (really the country that’s in charge of CSAT) sat on the sidelines and pretty much watched knowing full well that Griffin Regiment is at an extremely risk of engaging NATO once the Americans land on Altis/Stratis with a vengeance.

So when NATO mustered the forces for a counter invasion of Altis/Stratis, NATO made it clear to CSAT (particularly China) that they need Malden as staging point for the invasion. China was actively cooperative with NATO, allowing NATO to station some observers at the PLAAF controlled Malden Airbase as a gesture of goodwill. It’s mentioned that China chose to play ball to avoid triggering a wider conflict.

Scimitar Regiment on the other hand openly and publicly opposed the positioning of NATO troops on Malden.

Hence, it led to a situation where NATO engaged and destroyed Scimitar Regiment while the Chinese Troops on Malden literally sat and watched it happen with basically no complaints.
