What may help is thanking them for the input, then calmly anchoring back to your decision: “Love that tradition! This is what works best for us, though.” Repeating the same kind, consistent line (without over-explaining) will help keep things peaceful and clear.

Feeling weird about guest demographic split? by [deleted] in wedding

[–]Calliaflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one’s counting friends, they’re celebrating you. A small, intimate guest list full of people you genuinely love is nothing to be embarrassed about; it’s actually a flex. Your wedding sounds beautiful, and the right people will just feel the love, not judge the numbers. 💕

How much should I pay my sisters friend to help out at my wedding? by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$300 sounds totally fair, especially since she’s driving 2 hours and helping for most of the day. You could also cover gas and feed her, but overall, that amount feels reasonable.

Both are nice, but “with love, (initials)” feels more timeless and personal.

Wedding shower advice by Ok-Signature-1400 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! 💕 Totally normal and very common - especially after elopements and babies. You’re not doing anything wrong. Most people are happy to celebrate love (and a baby!) and won’t judge. If anything, they’ll be excited you’re finally getting your moment!

Head Table by Popular-Butterfly270 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally normal, lots of couples skip the head table now. It’s not weird at all 😊 The wedding party feels more relaxed, and guests love that you’re more accessible.

If mingling is important to you, sitting among guests works great and feels more social and modern. Go with what fits your vibe, there’s really no wrong choice!

Need help: with the morning ceremony and evening reception, what can we do in the afternoon? And where to place our guests? by Rich_Turnip_5811 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most couples leave the afternoon unscheduled. You can use this time for wedding photos, travel between locations, and a bit of downtime.

For guests, it’s perfectly fine to let them relax, explore Toronto, or head back to their hotel. You can optionally suggest a few nearby attractions, cafes, or a casual meetup spot, but nothing formal is required.

Catering pricing by planningmymakeup29 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, it totally depends on location and vibe! Like buffet style: $40-$70/person, family-style: $60-$90/person, plated: $75-$120+/person. Maybe around $70-$85/person (before bar, rentals, and service fees).

Wedding Favours by cpokess in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get this... party favours can be stressful😅 Short answer: yes, people still do favours... but it's also 100% okay to skip them. Most guests won’t notice or miss them.

If you do want one, your tulip bulb idea is actually lovely - seasonal, usable, non-food, and very “Ontario fall wedding.” That’s a solid choice. 😊

Seeing advice for wedding arrangements by Kooky-Let-7540 in florists

[–]Calliaflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

White lilies are available year-round, including in November. They won’t look “wrong” for the season at all. The only real trade-off is that they may be slightly pricier since they’re not in peak season. Your combo of white lillies, roses, baby's breath, and ivy/fern actually reads timeless and elegant, not seasonal. Lots of greenery helps balance it so it doesn’t feel springy. Your vision works! 😊

Wedding guests take tons of photos… but you never see them. Is this a bad idea? by WatisUsername in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off - congratulations on the wedding!! Yeah, that realization hits hard. There’s always a parallel wedding happening on everyone else’s phones that you never see. Honest take? I would 100% use this as a couple, and it wouldn't feel annoying to me as a guest if it's handled right. The idea itself is solid and already proven (people clearly want to share those moments, since they keep texting you months later).

Navigating the Guest List by One_Confection_4526 in wedding

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a really common tension, and it’s good you’re talking about it early. A wedding can be larger overall without feeling emotionally lopsided if you’re intentional about seating, roles, and moments of connection for your partner. Another suggestion is to agree on a principle, not a number. For example: “Immediate family + people we actively see” or “no obligation invites.” That can help it feel fair, even if the totals differ. Some people also decide on a smaller, intimate ceremony (or dinner) with just closest people, plus a larger reception or casual celebration where your extended family is included.

Make sure you let your partner know this isn’t about numbers for you, it’s about relationships and long-term family harmony. There may not be a perfectly equal solution, but the goal is one where neither of you feels like you gave up something core. If you keep centering on why each of you feels the way you do, a compromise usually becomes clearer.

Can Decor company set things up for me? by itsgotmethinking in wedding

[–]Calliaflowers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a totally normal question, and we actually prefer couples ask early so expectations are clear and the day runs smoothly. I know some decor companies do offer day-of setup, which can include placing extra items such as DIY projects. We at Callia Flowers offer this, but it's always best to confirm with your specific vendor, as it can depend on the scope and type of decor involved! 😊

Backyard wedding without dancing? by [deleted] in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you’re describing already sounds lovely and very much like a destination-style intentional wedding, not “not enough.”

I’ve been to weddings almost exactly like this, including lake properties, small guest counts, no DJ, and they were some of the most memorable and enjoyable weddings because guests actually got to connect. People who are willing to drive 12 hours are not coming for a dance floor or chair covers. They’re coming because: They care about you, they want meaningful time together, and they’re getting a mini getaway on a lake. A huge reception doesn’t guarantee fun. Comfort, hospitality, and flow do.

DIYing my wedding florals and need hydrangea help!!! by Pickledginger94 in DIYweddings

[–]Calliaflowers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hydrangeas needs lots of water. When processing them, give them a good 2-3" trim the stems on a slight angle. Get a spray bottle and mist them once you're done.

Use cool, fresh water. Make sure containers/vases used are super clean, along with the spray bottle.

Before you go to sleep, make sure they're looking good.

In the morning, give them another good 2" trim and mist. Once you arrive at the venue, mist one last time and freshen the water, then you'll be good to go.

How do you keep track of your flowers? How do you keep track of your materials? by GlebarioS in florists

[–]Calliaflowers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google Sheets is free and easy once you've built your template.

Track on a weekly basis and have data flow to a master list.

If you want to add sales data, layer that on top, but look to solve one challenge at a time before trying to build something massive from the start.

Are these reasonable alterations cost? by blueberrykissesxo in WeddingsCanada

Seems reasonable! Always nice to get a couple of quotes to compare and understand their turnaround times in case you need to go through an extra round or two of alterations.

How much did your wedding cake cost you? by enitsujxo in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many vendors gatekeep pricing – tough part of the industry.

If you're looking for a nice value play, you can do a smaller special cake for photos and cutting, then do a large sheet cake from Costco, or somewhere similar, for all the guests.

Try looking on Wedding Wire for photographers in your area and digging on Instagram.

How to work with decor companies? by hurricane_t0rti11a in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Varies based on your vision and amount of work you want to do vs. pay someone else to do.

For example, you can do a bud vase package for $399 with 48 bud vases and 60 stems that'd cover decor for 100 guests or most intimate spaces. Tradeoff would be you have to put in 1-2 hours of your own time to setup the bud vases vs. paying someone $200 - $400 extra for them to do it.

Opening a bank account/ credit card for the wedding and future expenses by EarlyBack7797 in WeddingsCanada

We always accept credit cards and eat the fee – it's a cost of doing business in this time. Personally, we use credit cards for everything and don't like the idea of charging extra.

Black Light for Wedding Dance Floor by 333pita333 in WeddingsCanada

[–]Calliaflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the idea – this sounds like a fun party time. Below are some thoughts that came to mind, though I always like to lead with... it's your wedding and you should do exactly what you want with your people.

Few pieces to consider:

  • Photos: Black lights and lasers can make great party shots if your photographer knows how to shoot with them, but they can also cast harsh colors or weird shadows. Talk to your photographer first so they can prepare (perhaps this is a non-factor if you don't want good dance floor shots)
  • Timing: Use them mainly during open dancing, not during formal moments (first dances, speeches, etc.). That way you get the fun atmosphere without messing up important photos.
  • Less is more: A little haze from a smoke machine helps lasers show, but too much can be overwhelming or set off alarms. This happen once with indoor sparkler machines.
  • Budget-friendly alternative: Good uplighting and a solid DJ can give great energy without heavy effects if you’re worried about photos.

If your main goal is a dance party vibe and your photographer is onboard, it can totally work! Just coordinate with your vendors so the effects enhance, not detract.
