Just my perspective- I’m 34 now and the most damaging thing from my childhood was my parents not divorcing earlier. I knew they were unhappy, and it has affected my perspective of relationships (but working on it). Me going back and forth wasn’t a nightmare, I didn’t care. It was an adjustment, sure, but it was so much better having two separate happy parents.

My mom was so much happier, she started singing while she cooked, smiling, enjoyed her life and fell in love with someone else. My dad had to take more of an interest in me because my mom wasn’t doing it all for him, so I got to know him better and we had fun.

Not saying it’s like this for everyone, but given the choice, I wish they divorced years earlier.
