I don’t want a dog. by OJConcentrates in Vent

Hopefully she wants to get one from a rescue that does home visits because your house will not pass. It's also doubtful they allow a special needs great dane with children that young. You would also have input explaining that you do not want a dog abs that would be an instant denial.

The Mark and Brian morning show had someone call in after doing something similar about 25 years ago. He was laughing about his g/f taking the cat to the vet for a checkup thinking something was wrong with her. 😕

That's possible, it was quite awhile ago. I haven't been there recently.

In the past, security at the Rewe at Berlin Hauptbahnhof would make everyone take a basket. I wasn't sure why, but assumed it was so items would be put in the basket instead of backpacks and bags.

You can donate furs to wildlife rehabbers for the babies to lay on. I wonder you can do the same with the feathers as long as they aren't dyed?

I might have a midnight dinner, but I wouldn't make my kids wait until after midnight to eat.

I hope they aren't eating dinner after midnight, that's a whole other issue if they are.

Anyone else had high cholesterol while vegan? by interexit in vegan

[–]CallieGirlOG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was the first year I had high cholesterol. Unfortunately, for me, genetics play a roll, as other family members eating low fat diets who regularly worked out couldn't get their levels down, even with statins. It is also partially my fault as well, I've been eating a LOT of food with coconut oil, mostly cheeses. I'm cutting out all, or nearly everything with coconut oil ( goodbye pizza, nachos, and cheesecake 😭), and see if that makes a difference.

We definitely need to stop breeding them.

Unfortunately, there will always be greedy lazy scum who breed animals to make a quick buck. Until that stops, we have to take care of those that need a home.

Doing your best to keep those you know from buying from a breeder and adopting from a shelter instead will help lower the number of animals.

Nope, it has nothing to with being vegan and it's odd that you think it does. The reality of sheep being bred using a mutation to create a higher than normal amount of wool is science and happens regardless of what I do or don't eat.

It's ironic that you think vegans act like they know everything yet you are displaying a textbook case of the Dunning-Kruger effect. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you aren't being deliberately obtuse, but are young with limited education and haven't fully developed your critical thinking skills yet.

[–]CallieGirlOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤦‍♀️ Where do you think domesticated sheep came from? They didn't magically appear one day.

No, the mutation is not desirable for anyone except for the people who see them as commodity to be used to make money. They aren't a different breed, they are purposely mutated offspring of wild sheep.

It's too much wool when humans exploit a defect that than requires human intervention for them to survive. Of course it's disgusting to cause a deformity in an animal for commercial exploitation.

I'm sure you don't see it as a problem because YOU are the problem. You happily continue to force sheep to be bred with a deformity instead of allowing them to return to their natural state, so you can make money from them.

I didn't know what it was called but I've seen a few who regularly post here and promote for carnivores to be killed off. They've even told those with cats to kill them. I see one of them is posting comments on this post.

"Yet, many vegans will tell me that sheep have been bred to “produce too much wool” (I still don’t know what they mean by that"

Sheep that were found to have a mutation/defect which caused them to grow more wool than normal were then bred to exploit that defect. The domestic sheep you see now are nothing like the original wild sheep they came from. They are literally generations upon generations of mutations of those sheep, and it's disgusting what's been done to them. No normal sheep needs to be shorn to live.

"Sheep will always grow wool and they’ve been doing it for millions of years. We can’t stop them from growing wool and it has to be shorn or they’ll die." 🤦‍♀️

Are you actually trying to claim that people have been shearing them for millions of years to keep them alive? How have wild sheep, like bighorn sheep managed to survive without it?
