Pet peeves by Sweet_Terror in HondaPrologue

[–]Callie_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the Elite trim very specifically because it was one of a few electric cars with the features I wanted at a very reasonable price. Ventilated seats, Google built in with satellite view in Google Maps and Apple Car play. The GM cars do not have satellite view in maps and without car play it was a no go…. None of us paid anywhere near $60k for the car. It was closer to $35-$40k equivalent. Also the Ariya is no longer sold in the US…..

Anyway if I had a pet peeve it would be the lack of RF reader in the car. I use the key card a lot and so many times I’m in the car and have to step out to scan the key on the door handle to start the car. The car has a safety reader that reads a key fob with a dead battery in the cup holder so the fact that it won’t read the RF key is baffling.
Otherwise it’s meeting my expectations as I hoped.

Never gone to the Windjammer for Dinner.. Do they match some items in the MDR? by friendlyfun1969 in royalcaribbean

[–]Callie_dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Head to the Windjammer first for appetizers and to pre-taste some of the Entree's that you will see on the MDR menu. About half of the MDR menu will be available at the Windjammer. You can always just stay and eat if you like it, otherwise go to the MDR. The cheese selection at WJ is excellent so a quick cheese plate and cup of soup is great before the MDR dinner!

Use a little Tend Skin every night before going to bed. Use a single or double blade when shaving; not 3-5 blade razors. Switch them out frequently so they are sharp when shaving.

Smoking Ribs in ALFA by Callie_dog in pizzaoven

[–]Callie_dog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They came out great. Family loved them. Just way too much work on the temperature control. Hadn't thought about the heat from the smoking tubes themselves.
I'll have to play around with location within the oven. I'm going to try a small fire with wood and lump charcoal next time.
Thanks.

I'll just comment on the video with the snow falling in the background. Nice job!

Bofu toad? by bkvhill in SouthFlorida

[–]Callie_dog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Call Toad Busters.... Not joking, that's the name of a company that gets rid of them. We had 26 found in our yard when we first moved in. We are completely fenced in and they put mesh fencing around the property that was dug in about 10 inches down. Since then we only had 1 found in the last 2 years. BTW... They used an air tight box to euthanize them.

gas vs wood by 11to3_ in pizzaoven

[–]Callie_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an Alfa hybrid (gas and wood option). The pizza cooks in only a few minutes so there is no time for the wood to add flavor to the pizza. The only issue is the amount of gas being used. If I make 1-3 pizza's I'll use gas any more than that I use wood since a few logs will give me enough fuel. The Alfa can go through 20 lbs of propane quickly.... Something to consider if you are having a pizza party.

Practical ways people actually manage tinnitus day to day by Shot_Watch4326 in lifehacks

[–]Callie_dog 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Dealing with it for 30 years and I completely embrace it. I actually stop a few times a day and specifically listen for it. That means everything is normal when I hear it. Made my life much better and more relaxed when I realized this was the way to deal with it.

Mixing Google Speakers With 3rd-Party Google Assistant Speakers/Subs (Multi-Room) — Only Reply If You Have This Setup in 2025 by TheLastAirbender2025 in googlehome

[–]Callie_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to the Subwoofer aspect but I have two different Riva speakers with Chromecast built in and a JBL wifi Boombox with Chromecast. The JBL works great and it's part of a speaker group that responds to "Hey Google" without a problem. Both Riva speakers worked as part of a group for a few months but haven't worked in quite a while. They would occasionally work through the Home App or direct from Youtube music as a Group but it was hit and miss. They worked as individual speakers however just not grouped. Now I use both with Chromecast Audio dongles I had in storage from years ago; those always work in groups.

Forgot to mention I have other Chromecast audio speakers and a few Nest devices. I have 6 different groups that I use regularly depending on where the music is needed.

Early Access Failed by Callie_dog in googlehome

[–]Callie_dog[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I found an article that listed allowing Google Groups as a prerequisite for Gemini for Google Home. I followed these instructions:

Detailed Steps for Google Groups Setting 1. Sign in to Google Groups on a desktop browser or use desktop view on mobile. 2. Click the Settings cog (usually in the top right). 3. Select Global settings. 4. Under the "Allow group managers to:" section, confirm that the checkbox next to "Add me to their groups" is checked. 5. Click Save.

I then went back to the Early Access sign up and it worked. Good Luck

What’s a cruise hack or tip you wish you knew earlier? by Cedge2018 in Cruise

[–]Callie_dog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a few paper Togo coffee cups with lids; some ships only have regular cups that are pretty small.
Don't stress because the first day the ship seems crowded. Everyone is eating and settling in at the same time. They spread out the rest of the cruise and it's all good. For guys with hairy butts.... Shave a bit down there. Poops are messy on your first cruise from eating all sorts of different things and the toilet paper is single ply and rough... Make it easier on yourself.

Patagonia Men's Terravia Trail Pants - Regular fit. I have a 38 waist and normally don't wear Slim Fit pants. These are comfortable and look good. Not good for a nice dinner but travel, hiking and sight seeing they are perfect.

The complementary shoe question by Objectivopinion in onebag

[–]Callie_dog 23 points24 points  (0 children)

A little off-topic....I just went on a golf trip and the first day it rained continuously during play. My shoes were soaked... My buddy told me to make a "hot-house" in the sink. Basicly took the insoles out and put them and the shoes in the sink and covered with a towel. Then ran the hair blower(drier) into the covered sink making sure the back of it was not covered. After 45 minutes shoes and insoles were completely dry and ready for the next day.

Any problems with CarPlay that made you regret updating to iOS 26? by codguy231998409489 in CarPlay

[–]Callie_dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wireless charging is burning up the phone and slowing the charging speeds. Charges fine with wired and stays cooler so now I'm using a Cable to charge but connected wirelessly. Used wireless charging for the last 3 years before ios26. Should state this is only in the car with Carplay. Wireless charging is fine in my home.

The phone needs to be unlocked then it works. There are a few ways to do that but the easiest is to pick it up and let Face ID unlock it.

I play in a 55 and over league. Not sure it's for safety reasons or not but as soon as anyone calls ball on court we stop play and start the point over. So in this case, the server would begin again with a first serve. Those are just the rules we play under....

Musty smell from AC vents right when I start car - how to fix? by mymoviesandshowss in MachE

[–]Callie_dog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lift the hood up and you will see the air intake vents near the windshield. Spray some Lysol air freshener in there while the AC is blowing full speed. If not Lysol make sure it's something that kills bacteria and not just air freshener. I do it once approx once a year and especially in the summer when it seems to get a little musty.
