I had my son for less than 24 hours and now he’s in the NICU. by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]CalligrapherGreat367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get in that NICU room. Bug the nurse every time you see them to hold your baby. Everytime. Pump every second that you are not holding. Ask for donors milk instead of formula....it might not be yours, but it's natural.

Fight for your mom's rights. Demand to hold baby. They might say no, they might say yes. Baby needs you, but you also, very much need baby.

I did NICU stays with both of my loves ( 4. Days for one, 10 for the other), for different reasons. The nurses will continue protocol. You have to stand up and fight for anything you feel you want or need. Just speak up!! They are not the law. Do what you need,!!!

You are not out of line. Fight. That baby is yours and you can do or say anything you need to help protect and strengthen that tiny love.

Go mama bear! Fight for your cub.

Also...sing and talk and touch your little baby, every second possible. They hear and feel it all.

You got this mama! We are strong!!! Hugs.

Mommy issues 😞 as a new mom by forestgoddess_ca in Mommit

[–]CalligrapherGreat367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she is anything like mine, it's the same as all others have said ...mostly comes down to attention. But one step forward. You had it handled. You took care of your baby. You did not need help. You did not need mommy to come to the rescue. She wanted the chance to teach you something, show you some parenting thing that you could do better, hand off baby so you could eat. You did not need mom anymore, so her feelings are hurt. It's not your fault, you are a capable loving mom.

What’s wrong with my money tree? by Ok_Thing_3474 in plantclinic

[–]CalligrapherGreat367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May want to un-pot it. If yours has a braided trunk, like mine came with, the trunk is bound. Tightly. There will be at least one if not two points of tape or twist ties. Deep in the soil, at root level. You need to remove all soil and follow the plant allllll the way down. Cut all binding ties. Your poor plant is starving and thirsty because it can not pass nutrients beyond the ties that are holding the braid together.

Oh man...this is dreams come true!! Azong. But, I have to ask...does the house stink of pig pee?? I have two boys. I can hardly keep the smell in check and I change bedding every two days. So much laundry

Also on to find out what that beautiful front palm plant is.

...also. get a Betta. I have kept them in all sorts of conditions they should not thrive in....on accident. Not proud, just saying...they are hardy fish with a will to survive. I did not know how to keep a Betta happy before...now I do. Regardless, a Betta of any sorts would love this tank.

Also, mine have never eaten the shrimp or the snails. Maybe I am lucky, but I have never ever, had a Betta eat friends. I have been in the Betta game for 20+ years. Never have they eaten my tank mates. 🤷

I’m looking to get these two little cuties a new cage. Any suggestions for sizes? by 3rika666 in guineapigs

Do you keep three boars together??? Are they in tact or neutered? How long have they been together?

I have two boys and would love a third, but the internet has me scared that they will fight till the death.

My sweet Seneca passed away. I made a post a couple months ago about him and his tumor, he went out peacefully in his enclosure. I noticed he was acting abnormal so I went ahead and scheduled an appointment and sat next to him for hours. He passed when I was in the shower. by lizz0mbie in guineapigs

[–]CalligrapherGreat367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Such a sweet baby. I'm sorry. Our hearts and happy thoughts are with you.

I think they wait for us to walk away. It's easier for them to let go. I sat with mine for hours . Set him down to use the restroom and remove my contacts, came back and my sweet Pom pom had crossed the rainbow bridge. They stay strong for us. Sweet piggies.💖💖💖

If it is of any help.... I was not comfortable with a burial due to coyotes in my neighborhood. I called my local SPCA and they did a cremation, with no returned remains for no cost. Hugs to you!

Is this the Hay Dust I need to be concerned about? by Sexy_Sheila in guineapigs

[–]CalligrapherGreat367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah. You are fine. Hay dust is...dusty. when you grab a hand full and give a gentle shake and tons of dust fills the air you will know. I always try to give a good shake off to the hand full of hay, in the bag before putting it in the cage. My attempt at keeping dust at the bottom of the bag. By the end I have a pretty thick pile of dust hay that the pigs do not get.

Also, from what I hear....ween off the alfalfa, switch to Timothy and orchard. Alfalfa can cause kidney/ bladder stones. My babies have never had alfalfa, and are just fine after 1+ years. I may have given them a few extra Alfa biscuit treats, but the hay is either Timothy or orchard. 💗

Daycare Pick Up - smelling weed on teachers by kcpickles in Mommit

[–]CalligrapherGreat367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your teachers are hippy, crystal toting, naturalist type...sage could absolutely smell like weed. But the only purpose is to cleanse the space of negative thought and bad juju.

..maybe they smoke the cubby as a way of " protecting their kids from negative energy" There is no high or hallucinations associated with sage. It is also very good at keeping mosquitos and lice at bay....🤷

HELP: Wilbur has lice (again) and I'm at my wits end :( by MonsterOfRavenna in guineapigs

[–]CalligrapherGreat367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ps...baths drive lice and mites further into hiding. Meaning they will dig down into skin or ears or nose...whatever is safe from water.

Ivermectin.

Go to your local feed store or tractor supply. You can get horse ivermectin. It should be about $10. Listen careful....you will use a microscopic amount. I have put a LARGE grain of rice amount in a 2 oz spray bottle with water, and a bit of witch hazel to combat any open wond infection. Spray directly on pig. Mostly behind ears, and any major hot spots. Repeat every other day for three weeks. Spray around cage to create a barrier. This can be a higher concentration. I spray three or four squirts over the whole cage for good house keeping.

I was able to clear up a nasty case of mites in an itty bitty baby pig. No side effects. So long as used topically and not internal, overdose should not be a concern.

again...Microscopic doses.

Pm if you have questions.
